As someone who played exactly enough of Shadowlands to experience this expansion with full knowledge the flavor was absolutely perfect and really highlighted the best aspects of Shadowlands. It's also funny that they were able to tie in a lot of the Shadowlands character returns into functional and strong cards while also not having to supplement the set with original characters because Shadowlands already retooled and reimagined these characters in a perfect Hearthstone-y way (Decimator Olgra, Sinrunner Blanchy, Kelthuzad, all could reasonably be fanservice original creations, but the fact they were all legitimately from the expansion made it feel so faithful while still retaining the whimsy of Hearthstone's scenarios)
I'm a big minion, big stuff, big spell, big control, etc - guy, I hope more cards like Sesselie get printed and relics get some support :( And of course GIVE ME BACK MY SPOOKY MAGE! (When I say support for relics, I mean support for control demon hunter, what thinking again... Maybe would be a little pain to deal with so that's probably for the best)
Necrolord Draka was a curious case, cause when it came out nobody played it, it was considered one of the bad legendaries. I don't remember if it became powerful after an expansion or someone just discovered a good deck with her. The same thing happened with Pozzik, nobody played it when it came out, it was considered bad, but then someone said it's good and it started seeing play in most decks and then it got nerfed.
What? I played pozzik day one of festival of legends in Frost Dk and big beast hunter. 70% of the players did actually, and that got howdy fan and pozzik nerfed in less than a week. I know some cards take time to shine but you literally couldn't have picked worst examples from those respective expansions. First nerf to miracle rogue was in the Second week of nathria if memory serves me right, with graveyard going up 1 mana in cost.
@@joaopc94 Miracle rogue worked well without Draka aswell, although some decks included her, because graveyard was so busted. I guess the GY nerf increased her popularity. And Pozzik wasn't included at the start, "but i played it" is a stupid argument and you're way off when it comes to its inclusion rate, check the decks before making statements. And that was the whole point which you apparently missed, these are great cards, obviously since they got nerfed but for some weird unexplicable reason, they didn't see much play.
Relic DH was the most fun ive ever had playing HS, really felt like we finally had a slower style deck that can still play proactively for the board and doesn't just do nothing first few turns, especially having Brann + Jace to suddenly OTK slow decks it was a deck that you felt could win any matchup even if unfavoured and yet wasn't overpowered at all. Sesselie was played with whomper in big druid lists IIRC
I believe during playtest Deathborne started at 5 mana but was nerfed to 6 before it got released. That makes it sadder that it didn't go to 5 after last rotation.
Kel’Thuzad, the Inevitable is my favorite Class Legendary from this expansion, the deck building you have to do with him is something I can get behind.
I likes the overall theme of Nathria. The whole murder mystery angle was awesome. Plus, Frost Mage saw a massive revival with the Skeleton package and Solid Alibi which was a huge plus for me to come back to the game. The only thing I didn't like was how insanely unfun it was to play against Hunter, Warlock and Rogud. A good chunk of their cards had to get nerfed to oblivion to not be problematic anymore
Skeleton mage almost got me back into the game But it took until festival of legends hero power Druid to actually get me there I was also very fond of Stewart and dude Paladin but as it turns out 1/1 token spam isn’t good
This video made me think when you were talking about Mankrik and Olgra, could you do a power point on free legendaries given at the start of a each expansion?
My favorite card is a tie between with Bloodreaver guldan with its sick animations and powerful effect; and Darkest hour because that card helped me get into legend for the first time since classic. Yes I like warlock
I remember that they marketed the expansion as a murder mystery but I have no idea how they implemented that story into the game. How do you know what happened to sir denathrius? Was it in flavour text of the cards? Also fav card is for sure snowflipper penguin I just love him💖💖
If memory serves me right, the whole murder mystery was told in a blog post. My theory was that there was suppost to be single player content for it, but Blizzard decided to discontinue making single player content such as adventures, most likely due to the poor reception of the last one in Sunken City and the Book of Heroes/Mercenaries.
Actually disenchanted the questline form mage (that i never actually got to try out) to craft kheltuzad the inevitable. I have yet to achieve legels of seratonin close to playing pre nerf keltaz sinstrider+brann+kheltuzad to sumonn 20+ skeletons and burst the opponent from full health (It was the least toxic and unfair combo involving brann and sinstrider you could do that expansion 😂). I suport those changes, make nathria relevant again!
Did they ever reveal which of the suspects actually killed Denathrius? I know the story ended with him just coming back to life but someone had to kill him first right? Was it himself as a prank?
