Italy armored might actually be good for team games, lots of meatshields, decent AA, and plenty of tanks, no true superheavies but that's actually not that bad as superheavy tanks get focused down real hard and not everyone is good with smoke micro and having 6 C1s means inevitable losses are more manageable. Italy would probably shine with 4 stacks of M47s or lower tier OF-40s/M60s providing direct fire support for mechanized infantry pushes, while their M109s and 5 HE mortars give indirect fire support while the Arietes sit in the back ready to help with anything the cheaper tanks can't handle or take opportunistic sideshots with its 23 AP.
I was really hyped when Italy got announced, but seeing their units, I'm not so sure anymore. From all the paid DLC nations they look to me like the weakest or the least interesting. South Africa brought you those crazy fast motodecks. Israel gave you all those unique units. And Italy? Italy gives you infantery spam... And while that is an effective tactic, it's just not exciting. If only they could build a killer motodeck WITH the Otomatic. But I do appreciate you covering the nation in such detail!
5:20 I notice they have Carbines. Do those offer a considerable DPS advantage on shocks? I know it's not a unicorn like Commandos 90 (btw did their primary change during the patch?) but that might be a small but noteworthy upgrade over the Rima. Compensated by no transport like the autocannon VAB.
My opinion on this DLC is that it's a shame Italy doesn't get many units because only this time around Eugene decided to be more historical. No Dardo, no Palmaria, no F16/Eurofighter, no naval units or anti-ship options, etc. And for some reason the Bm-59 is low RoF, long range and high accuracy which is the opposite of what it was supposed to be. The fact that this is the appetizer for some crappy Warno division five years down the road made this faction a bit of a gimmick in my eyes.
Man, wtf! Bm-59 is an archetype of battle rifle and it has huge recoil, much more than an AK, for example. How is it supposed to have more rof at long ranges than an assault rifle? It also have larger caliber (longer range and precision).
Razzy any fixes or nerfs to exploits or generally underhanded 'tactics' in the new update? Fobs providing less while being more survivable seems like a step in the good direction
One more question, since I know you're a hidden numbers wizard. I remember hearing that accuracy above the hit cap gets turned into crit chance. Is that true, and if it is, wouldn't that make BM-59s a kind of RNG machine?
I don't believe that is true. And if it is, then it does not seem to matter for infantry weaponry (otherwise snipers/dmrs would be godly in inf fights).
This actually looks really good and interesting. South Africa was just meh. The first reveals on this looked so bland but with the ingame stuff Italy looks really interesting and fun.
Also the lack of transport options for the Alpini and Reservists are really, really dumb. Especially the reservists. If they haven't nerfed French or Dutch reservists this just smacks of selective balancing. There's also no good reason for Alpini 90 to be restricted to the 1 armor M113 besides a hypersensitive approach to balance.
The only "real" ground transports Alpini had (IRL) is not ingame (as Eugen could not model it), the M113 is somewhat of a stretch because it was assigned to a unit in the same brigade (or some shit like that). They just never used Fiats, VCCs etc. And it is also good for balance as well as variety. And to call it "hypersensitive" is honestly incredibly rich when you have not even played with that unit.
Same with COMSUBIN too, honestly. Having HALF the health of Jaegere just because their Carl G equivalent has twice the range (and reduced ROF comparatively) really just feels like some high-level players had too much input. There's no good reason these guys should be so brittle that a lucky arty shot completely wipes them off the map. Italy felt really close to greatness but ruined by little things like this. Instead we got a Blue Moto expansion pack to stuff Centauros into the recon and vehicle tabs and give Unspec Blue more APILAS.
@@RazzmannWG ST is more than just you, I wasn't trying to single you out. If that's what you took from it I apologize, not my intention. I just can't see a justification for COM being 5HP when they have a slower reload than Maglan, with even less range. I recognize their utility for MLG Montage sideshots on supers/heavies but being so brittle just feels like a slap for a deck that is already saddled with so many limitations. I guess they'll just melt if they ever meet Erikoi or Specialni.
No worries, I did not need to be this snarky either. Anyway, you can also view it from this perspective: with 10HP they would just be overly oppressive. SMG + Minimi makes them really strong vs infantry, they come with wheels so they can get early landgrabs, they have plenty of ammo and range with good AP, are fast, have optics, extra stealth etc. They might be a bit "weak" (ish) at 5HP, when compared to Maglan especially (though do not underestimate that unlike Maglans you don't have to worry about their AT ammo running out, and they are also a tad cheaper). But if it is between choosing the (possibly) somewhat too weak 5HP variant and an oppressive (non-proto!!!) 10HP variant, I would always choose the former. Especially since it is not a unit that the deck has to rely on.
