A friend of mine, with older kids, told me last year when my first went to college, and I was a mess, that as nostalgic as I would always be for the “little years”, I’d grow to love this time in their life even more because they become adult people who I’d be able to have a friendship with well as being mom. I’d get to see the good job I’d done raising them to be such wonderful people. Through my tears, I didn’t believe her. It’s a year later and guess what? She was right. I’m so proud of him and proud of my husband and myself for helping to raise such a great human being❤️

I do miss my "little years" but I found that every year, as they grow, (they're 26 & 28) is my favorite. Watching them grow and mature and make life choices - so sweet. By God's grace I have amazing kiddos..... College is just the beginning of watching them reach they're potential. Motherhood doesn't end with the age of 18

Jess, as a mom of 2 older girls now both well into their 20s Those moments sometimes are far and few between, enjoy these moments while you have them! My youngest moved out and married at 18, and I went into a depression because I grieved the moments we had . But I'm so blessed to know that each moment we do have is cherished that much more. (we also try to have them more often and make each moment count) 😊❤

I do remember my kids as they were ready for their next step after high school graduation. My oldest enlisted in the Marines. My daughter went off to college as my youngest also went off to college. I cried all the way home with each one as they left and for a day after they left. It is hard being a mom. But I wouldn't change anything at all.

I remember my Son’s College orientation. I was so proud of him and he was so proud his Mom was there. I actually met parents of my Son’s later on good friends. I was glad to see so many parents attending with their kids. It was a heartwarming day, indeed! Blessings ❤️🙏🏼

Hi Ms. Jessica. Sending the first born off to college is hard. We then come home, feed the other babies that are still at home and before you know it you get a call, "Mom, I've meet the woman of my dreams." Grandbabies soon follow and you will look back and say "Jesus, you know how much I love babies, thank you for this wonderful life." God bless Jackson in his education.

Sweet Jess, pulling together a quick an easy meal from the garden... sweet! Lately, our meals have been cool/cold because it's been so hot outside. Tonight will be a quick meal. Homemade chicken lo mein, and veggie spring rolls (veggies will be used from the garden). I remember the days when our kids had college orientation. Sweet Jess, our kids not only grow up fast. Attending college goes by real fast. Before you know it the kids will be graduating. Enjoy your kiddoes (adults), and safe travels my friend.

Safe travels! I have 4 kids. My oldest got his Masters in 2018. My daughter should be getting her's this year. My other 2 seem to work all the time. I was never ready for them to leave the nest. Two of the kids went into the military for awhile but decided they did not want to make a career of it. The newest addition is a little cutie. Nice little garden haul.

Hang in there, Jess. When my boys left the nest, I was a huge emotional mess, too. All the things you’re feeling, and I thought “dang why didn’t anyone say that it would be this hard?”. Because it truly is a sense of grief over a beautiful season that changes everything about our dynamic. It’s ok to feel those things and still be excited and hopeful for the future. It’s just part of who we are as mothers. Huge gentle hugs to you, mama.

You look so proud, and so full of emotion! I remember my son going off to College, actually down in your neck of the woods, Warren-Wilson College in Swannanoa-Asheville area. Such a long ways away from Vermont, and yes, I was an emotional wreck, good way to describe it. My partner got me a "Clancy doll" for my times of missing my far-away son, and I shed some tears holding that silly little rag doll, Jess. You will have the Mom moments, but your boys are so grounded, and know how loved they are. You've done such a fine job, and Miah. Be safe on your journey, and have tons of fun! You've got over 600,000 friends going along with y'all...🌻

It’s always such a twilight zone moment to see southern gardeners pulling out pounds of food and having massive plants this time of year when my squash plants are 4” tall and actually got nipped by a frost last night. Its easy to get jealous so I just keep reminding myself that at least I don’t have to deal with heavy humidity 😅

Oh man have you ever tried maca root? I struggled with PPD with four of my kids (for me nursing really triggers it) but maca has made a huge huge difference!! I just eat two teaspoons a day (one with breakfast and one in the afternoon). I don't get panic attacks anymore, I don't feel depressed, I don't think terrible things are going to happen- etc! I recommend it all the time. I took other things that didn't work with other babies but nothing worked as good as this- it's an adaptogen so it's also just generally good for you- hope you feel better soon- i know how hard PPD can be. I had a friend remind me once "you are not your PPD!!" And it was just so freeing to know that it wasn't me it was just something happening to me. Lots of love❤️

Our four children were spread out a bit so we had College kiddos and younger kiddos at the same time and I remember, I was always tired, but the years flew by and now I am old and still tired for other reasons. Cucumber tip for everyone. If you have a cucumber ready for harvest and you only need a small piece if you're on your own, here's what to do, I've done it and confirm it works. Slice off a couple of inches from the bottom of the cucumber on the plant. The fruit will/should callous over and carry on growing. I'm in the UK and it worked for me, for the US I'm not sure your huge pest pressure there would get away with it, but it's worth a try.

Funny you should show your non-caged or trellis tomato plants. I also follow "The Veggie Boys" in Pennsylvania. They grow hundreds of plants, so cannot trellis. They let them grow on the ground on biodegradable mulch that looks like black landscape fabric. It's actually made of cornstarch. Anyway, I'm trying the non-caged or trellis method for the first time this season, just out of curiosity.

What I use and is fantastic for "ROLLY POLLES" is: Get a large grapefruit cut about 1/8 inch around the equator then cut the top and bottom hemispheres into 4 quarters each. You should have 8 peel pieces. Place the pieces white inside of the peel face down on the soil where you have seen "ROLLY POLLES". Every 2 days you should have the "ROLLY POLLES" clinging to the underside of the peels. Just shake them off into an empty yogurt container or equal. Use the "ROLLY POLLES" in the compost pile to accelerate organic breakdown.

Been there, done that on sending the boy that made you a mama off to college. It’s hard and you can’t correct or tell him to correct his work. I can’t say the academics progressed as I wanted with my son, but he found his way to success and I’m proud. ❤A thing I learned about parenting very young adults - send them away and let them make their own mistakes. My baby is Malia’s age. Now, I plan 2 day activities that my sons and I can get away from work/school on their schedules, even if I’m both taking off work and paying, so we connect without any holiday stress which is a thing in my family and their father’s family. I don’t exactly have a family in love like you do.

That’s so funny Jess, I was about to get our dinner thawed out to make fish tacos on the blackstone! We originally bought it for my husband to make breakfast on, but now it’s mine 😂. As a fellow mom of five (though mine are much younger), it’s so nice to cook a huge amount of food with less dishes!

I remember taking my daughter to college. We were in Sears shopping for a microwave for her dorm room. I was standing there looking inside this thing and IT HIT ME! My daughter will never be coming back home! I started bawling laugh a crazy person. I embarrassed her so much, but I just had a meltdown right there in the store.

Today my youngest son sits his final exam (secondary school) and then he goes to University at the end of August. I might actually miss ironing his uniform! Imagine that 😂 and I sit here feeling all old... but it's good to see how even though I was overwhelmed with 4 of them aged 4 and under, I did okay. They will always be your babies, Jess, no matter how big they get.
