A quick drive around the Dales from my house on a Sunday afternoon.
#yorkshiredales #ribblehead #ingleborough
Hi, I'm Dan and I grow a huge variety of vegetables for eating and also some Giant and Exhibition Show varieties for Local and even National Competitions.
Throughout the year I will try to show how I go about growing my produce and hopefully give a few tips and tricks along the way.
Whether it be how I grow potatoes in containers, growing basic veg for the home to growing a 10 pound onion or even a 100 pound marrow I will chart all my progress.
Please have a look at my videos and subscribe to my Channel.
Thanks.

That was great! I can’t imagine the amount of stones and labor that went into building those stone walls and I live in a stone house built in 1832. Thank you for giving a glimpse of your country side. I followed along with Google maps. Great video.

Building stone walls is a never ending job here. But some still stand over 200 years later. Cheers Dan 😊

Great video Danny. I live in whitby and used work on the roads installing Electric cable we put in 6000m up in Hawes and over in Keld to. Both travelling each day from whitby. Loved it.

That's a nice commute to work. Must have taken you almost 2 hrs each way though. Cheers Dan 😊

The roads appear to be of an amazingly good condition where you live, nice and smooth and no pot-holes. All the place I've lived in the South East are in a terrible condition. No High Rise Housing or Estates of Houses too, your very lucky indeed.
@Allotment-diaryUk

To be honest these roads are in good nick. Probably due to limited traffic and lack of hgvs. It's the wagons that seem to ruin the roads. Cheers Dan 😊

That was some much needed context for your videos, you've been mentioning the nearby road contaminating your audio for years so I always suspected the neighborhood might be a bit cramped, but it's very open instead. Those rolling highs are quite soothing imo. One question: what were all those parked cars about? Didn't seem like there was anything nearby to attract a crowd.

Eyup Dan. I've stomped around your back yard a couple of times doing the walks many years ago - you know the ones. It's a stunning place to be fella. Got owt growin' yet? BTW check out the pottery on street view - there's a cheeky rascal staring right back at the camera from an upstairs window. I'll sithi after, Dave

Yeah that street view is over 10 years old. That's our old dog Muddy. He lived to 22 years old. Cheers Dan 😅

I didn’t know that area was shaped by glacier. That’s the same to where I live in the states. It’s heavily wooded here - did you have more woodland in the Dales back in the day or was it always mostly open land? Thanks for the tour! 😊

Thank you for this lovely drive around the Dales. I'm always amazed to see how large the skyscape is when there are flat lands and low hills. The sky becomes your focus then. I'm curious by the absence of forested areas. Had the fields once been wooded or were they always bare? I should do a little research on your area and Google Earth to see the overall layout. Are all those cars parked at the roadsides tourists out for a hike in the fields? It was really so enjoyable to see the ride through that lovely little town then travel into the open land. Thank you!
@Allotment-diaryUk
@Allotment-diaryUk 6 месяцев назад
Originally all the land would have been forested but sheep farming has ruined the countryside as far as I'm concerned as it was all deforested and nothing grows where sheep graze. Cheers Dan 😢

The camera seems to make it look a lot faster than it actually was on the superview setting . I didn't exceed 60mph even on the straight traffic free parts. I'm a very safe driver. Never had a single incident in nearly 40 years. Cheers,Dan😊
