Sage advice my Friend! I typically remove the mufflers to clean them and decarbon the spark arresters which gives me a chance to catch this very issue which happens on the hand held weed cutters as well. Thanks for giving us this quick tip Buddy! Cheers! Zip~
Thanks! You had a good tip also I should’ve mentioned to clean the spark arresters. But it was a new muffler I didn’t think of it. Thanks for watching. Boneyard
What I Would Do Is, Drill 3 Holes In The Plastic Where The Screws / Bolts Are. So You Could Get To The Bolts Through The Side Of The Plastic Casing With A Long TORX Bit. Then You Wouldn't Have To Take Off All The Covers & The Pull Starter Every Time The Bolts Came Lose
I bought 3, 800's 2 years ago. They are junk all of them had to have new blocks. 2 of them are in the junk pile because they blew up and my 3rd one the muffler just broke for the 3rd time. I will never buy the 800's again. I gave a 700 to a friend 4 years ago and still going strong. I'm going back to redmax.
The 800s are the biggest disappointment Sthil has ever produced. The muffler being 100 bucks and guaranteed to fail is borderline criminal. This happened to mine, LocTite doesn't work as you mentioned. On top of that, it's never really ran right from the beginning. I have surges of lost power constantly. Maintenance is always done, top level Sthil fuel is used. I generally just end up pulling out my several year old BR600 (which is the best blower ever produced by anyone, bar none). Such a shame that Sthil couldn't use that platform and provide the same for all of us on the 800. If you pay 7-800 bucks for a fucking blower, it should be of the highest quality. It's a damn shame. Personally, I think every other blower out there sucks as well. Maybe some are mechanically better, but they're all clunky, ugly, and uncomfortable. It would be great if someone capitalized on Sthil shitting the bed on the 800 and produced a high quality, heavy duty, attractive, and comfortable blower. Yet NO ONE DOES.
