A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE (2024) | MOVIE REACTION First Time Watching!
POINT OF CLARIFICATION: In the beginning of the reaction, the story about the Skittles and the lady was during the ORIGINAL film, NOT THIS ONE!! I just realized I said "when I saw THIS MOVIE in the theatre..." I promise, this was a 1st time watch, y'all. I'll be honest with you when its a repeat viewing - and those are a'coming! Thanks!

Firstly, I'd like to say that I appreciate all of the new and current viewers to my little upstart channel! This foray into the world of content creation and RU-vid has been a labor of love and fortitude, and as terrifying as it has been to start, your affirmation and encouragement has emboldened me. THANK YOU.
Secondly this film, while thrilling and effective, was very confronting for me. #FuckCancer
Lupita Nyongo is a giant among actors - the reason a film like this, with minimal dialogue, can succeed is that she a master of communication - her entire body is a vessel for performance. Her eyes speak volumes, and her frame conveyed suffering. I loved Joseph Quinn in his role. He, too, has an innate ability to say SO MUCH with just his eyes - and his voice, his natural accent, is enamoring. I felt that the setting of New York, post-9/11 was....a choice. There is one scene of a woman stumbling through the streets covered in dust and ash, Lupita's character, which eerily evokes a real life image of a woman who later died as a result of that ash exposure that fateful day in 2001. I cannot stop thinking about that image, and whether the choice to use that imagery was a little irresponsible. Nevertheless, I think this film makes a nice bookend to the trilogy. Films like this highlight the best and the worst of the human race - calamity forces us to rise, and sometimes we fail. But, sometimes we succeed - and that success means sacrifice.

I saw this in the theater. I don't know what I expected but this exceeded all my expectations. I bawled once it was over. My mom died of breast cancer and, for a few months, I was her sole caretaker. So I felt this movie on such a deep, visceral level. Although the year isn't over, it's easily in my top five for the year.

@@asteven8 hi, there. I, too, lost my mom to cancer - a brain tumor. And I too was her sole caretaker. Those were lonely times. When someone you love suffers with this illness, the heartbreak compounds because they want so badly for you to be ok - but you cannot have that as you watch your loved one go through the process. I cannot pretend to know what you suffered, or how you suffer still. But please know that I see you. I hope you are healing. I hope you find joy everyday. You deserve the world, and your mom left a tender soldier here. Thank you for watching! 🫶🏾

@@eze4077 those two actors are masters of body language and facial expression. Never once was I at a loss to know what they were trying to say. Thank you for sharing! 🫶🏾

i dont agree, I think the best thing about this trilogy is the heart/humanity and its very present in all 3 movies.

Right on - you know, I get that as well. Silence is such an interesting phenomenon- it can be a comfort to some, and unnerving to others
