This is a part of 16 episode series recorded when Berklee was awarding a Doctorate to AR Rehman. As a tribute to him the Indian Ensemble at Berklee performed this on stage. It was recorded there. All 16 of them are more than worth seeing.

The songs in this sound track was way ahead of its time. Masterpiece to be precise. No one knew who this kid was, given full creative freedom to make music. Some of the instruments used and even technology to arrange the music by A R Rahman is truly amazing. The world needs to know about some of his early work.

With due respect to Mr.A.R.Rehman, he is one of my favourite, am from Tamil Nadu, but here I differ, Mr. Ilayaraja the legend is ahead of time, and Mr.A.R.Rehman had worked under him.

@@marydonald483 I do agree with you Mastro Ilayaraja is Legend in his unique way, Since we are dealing with International people & platform.. we should always give context to the original music when, how & where its done. As I mentioned he is ahead of his time with his unique style of blending western with Indian classicals and reaching nook of Indian villages is not easy to do.. but Rahman made it possible.. that way I admire him..!! IN MY OPINION Ilayaraja sir tune & feel Might work for Indian audience but I doubt with Western audience... If it works I am more than happy than anyone else 👍🏼 peace

She performed at the 2018 National Association of Music Merchants show in Anaheim, California, in January, and was part of the line-up at the 2018 Bass Bash with Australian guitarist Plini and German drummer Marco Minnemann in the same month. Of course, you're lovin the bass. That's Mohini Freakin Dey😆😆 Do you know who that is? She literally fucks the bass. Anyway, I love Rick's analogy of how bass is the heart of a song, pumping groove into the music, otherwise it's just lifeless that's true and it is indeed a very underrated instrument ! I feel like bassists are not noticed or appreciated enough.

Mohini Dey is absolutely amazing! Been a fan of her since long. She started her music journey at a very young age with A.R.Rahman and has played with legends like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Jordan Rudess (Keyboardist of Dream Theater), the amazing drummer Marco Minneman and so on. She is by far one of the best bassists the world has ever produced till now. And I am not at all exaggerating when I am saying this. Just look into her, you'll totally agree. :) Also this is my first time ever commenting on any platform on the internet. That's how mind blowing she is! :D :) Welcome to the world of Mohini Dey! \m/

Please react to Kailash Kher's 'Teri Deewani' or 'Saiyan' from his album 'Kailasa'.. you'll definitely love the ethereal voice that he has! Hopefully you get good subs for the lyrics of his songs, cz they're just too good to be lost in translation. Similarly, for 'Do Pal Ruka' by Sonu Nigam or 'Tere Liye' by Roop Kumar Rathod in SRK's movie Veer Zaara (all beautiful songs by the great lyricist Gulzar)--wish you could just truly understand what Gulzar writes and has written for this movie!!!

Had an opportunity to watch the Berklee performers with the legendary AR Rahman at Symphony Hall in Boston. What amazed me is the diversity of talented musicians from different parts of the world playing music for ARR's songs. The night was epic at Symphony hall where the audience were from all over the world! That is the reach of ARR's music!!!

Rick and Korbin....can u also have a look at this performance by Rajesh Vaidhya... He has legacy of having worked with AR Rahman for some songs. He is a legend today and has invented a form of veena which is a fusion of characters of both guitar and veena... He was recognized for that instrument by some musical acadamy ....
