'Mehendi Hai Rachnewali' - The song talks about the beauty and significance of the 'Mehendi' ritual during a wedding, in the video, Zubeidaa herself is seen to object to this marriage of her father, Amrish Puris choosing. In the end, the family's will prevails and we see the wedding go through. Sung by Alka Yagnik, the music of A.R. Rahman and the lyrics by Javed Akhtar suit each situation and setting, representing the traditions and culture, while also reflecting the emotions and turmoils of the characters. Zubeidaa (2001) is directed by Shyam Benegal and written by Khalid Mohammed. Along with Karisma Kapoor & Manoj Bajpai, it stars Rekha, Surekha Sikri, Rajit Kapoor, Lillete Dubey, Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, and Shakti Kapoor. The film garnered the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and won Karisma Kapoor a Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics).

This song does not belong to any religion, cast, race. It is a humble lullaby a parent feels in their heart when they marry off piece of their heart, be it a daughter or son, to see them hold hand of a life partner that will help them stay happy, healthy and help them succeed in their own way. Henna is an integral part of women adorning in Arabic world and also in Pakistan. Henne is called mehndi in Urdu that's where this function of mehndi comes from in Pakistan from Arab world.
