The fact that a film like Swades flopped and the music in that film wasn't appreciated at that time, just shows that Indian audience dont deserve good content. They must stop barking about remakes and low quality of movies, bcoz they themselves rejected the good ones, when they were offered. So yes, this is what we deserve, no point complaining

Problem with Swades is you cannot give social commentary without entertainment or humour. Swades feels the best movie ever made on your living room couch but unfortunately not so much on theatre, although it was well ahead of its time in ‘04.

I absolutely loved the movie when it first came out. Yes, I was a kid at the time but I still loved it. As I grew older, the film kept growing on me. The film had a heart and a soul that any foreigner could relate to. I was born in the US but when you go back home to Pakistan it is just a different feeling. There is a welcoming atmosphere and you think about what you can do for the people there with the resources you have. There are so many layers to the story and you can relate to any part of the story. Great movie!

I just watched it again couple of days back and still had tears in my eyes at the end. This movie connects with your heart and soul and reminds you of your love for your country. I still live in the US , watching this movie pains my heart so much and reminds me of the things I can do. I hope to go to India soon someday.

SRK's swades and Ranbir Kapoor's Rocket Singh are the most underated movies of Bollywood.. Both are pure films in terms of entertainment and social message, no glamour, nudity, adulteration.. I don't know why they failed it..

Thank god ..i watch this movie first time in my 8th standard exam leave quarterly (independence day) on national tv(dhoordharshan) the movie gave me impact that oeriod itself .made me realise village is made of lot of people.. Immediately i too cycle and went out to explore village of my granda ma in tmilnaadu.. Song vibe..make me to see my grandma village beautiful No i am married and passed.. Whenver i watch this movie or go across the place in my village.. Ut remind this movie

Swades was a flop, SRK was looted from a National award. While Saif got a National award, and movies like grand masti has earned 94 crore. Pretty much speaks the taste of most of the Indians, and their choices.

Swades is not ashutosh script..its straight copy of kannada poet shivaram karanths novel chigurida kanasu(marali mannige). But sad thing is that nowhere they have given credits to the poet..!😢😢 In fact chigurida kanasu made as a movie in kannada as a same name in 2003..!!
