A Radiant Comet Is Approaching Us! It Will Outshine the Brightest Stars! | Space Documentary 2024
Throughout history, many famous comets have made their mark in our minds.
But have you ever wondered which comet actually left the deepest impact?
The answer is not simple, because each comet has a special story.
In the past, some comets were so bright that they could be seen during the day.
You may be surprised to know that, since eighteen hundred, more than twenty comets have achieved 'greatness'.
At the same time, history also records that there were up to thirty-two extremely bright comets, including the appearance of Halley's Comet, one of the most famous comets.
Currently, although the sky still has dozens of comets of varying brightness, most of them can only be seen through telescopes.
This raises the question: What makes these comets so magical?
The answer lies not only in size or brightness but also in many other aspects.
As always, if you find this video interesting, don't hesitate to leave your comments below.
We, the video production team, always appreciate and thank you for all your feedback.
First in the set of criteria necessary for a historic occurrence is the comet's orbit.
Its path around the sun should bring the comet close to Earth or the sun, giving us the opportunity to observe them from close up.
Next, the size of the comet's nucleus is also extremely important.
A large nucleus means the comet's surface is more active, helping the comet stand out more in the sky.
Third, the comet needs to be close to Earth so we can clearly see its light.
However, a comet flying too close will only appear fleetingly and for a few days.
Conversely, comets that are farther away will be present in the sky longer, giving us more opportunities to observe.
Finally, an equally important factor is the amount of dust the comet carries.
The more dust there is, the larger and clearer the comet's tail will be as it flies through the sky, creating the beautiful images we often see.
Today, "Space Thirty Minutes" will help you compile the five brightest comets in the past one hundred sixty-five years.
And answer the question: Why do they stand out from the thousands of other comets that have passed through our solar system?
First, comet C/One, Nine, Nine, Five, O, One Hale-Bopp.
This comet was discovered independently by two amateur astronomers, Alan Hale in New Mexico and Thomas Bopp in Arizona.
According to NASA, at the time of its initial discovery, Hale-Bopp was the most distant comet ever discovered by amateur astronomers.
