Half way through the customer changes there mind.😒
This was not even going to be a video, but when I got the call that the gear box was going from 15/16'' (24mm) to 25mm I needed to undo what I had done. I thought you might find it... helpful.

Heh. With that bright yellow 5 on it I immediately thought "Oh, Thunderbird 5!" It is amazing how often we still have issues between metric and imperial here, considering we have been officially metric for almost 60 years. Nicely done!

I wish I could have found the Thunderbird theme song. It would have been far more appropriate.

Very nice Steve, thanks for sharing this insightful video. A year from now we will be able to review this and marvel at your growth and understanding. Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday season, gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace brother

My wife and a bunch of my friends work for Intralox at their HQ in the New Orleans area. Their belting systems are amazing!

Wow! Small world. Yeah we tried some knockoff intralox belts and they were absolute rubbish. And didn't last a whole season. We have an interlocks belt that's going on 10 years old and all we've done is replace the pins.

"The Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme)" by John Williams in key of G would be most suitable soundtrack for that opening slow pan?!

I really wanted the Thunderbirds theme song. The colour of my lathe and Thunderbird 5 are pretty close.

I was number 61 that pushed the like button! But what you actually achieved there, maybe went a little over my pay grade

Nice bit of machining... some of the measuring tools you used I didn't know existed, but it makes sense that they do. Probably these were invented originally by someone who had serious issue with something so minor that nobody else thought it an issue... (and the peanut gallery "yeah, we could so have invented that1)". What's your inventive contribution to machining metal going to be? Yeah, this is a challenge, but it is also a legitimate question. Over a career spanning more than 4 decades, I have met a few people who had "an idea /a passion /a drive" to create something unique, not (just) for financial enrichment, but to, for want of a better discription, "create a better tool /thing /product /method" because they could. Many were an "improvement" of existing tech /knowledge, others were disruptive in the limited space they were applicable to.
