When I first got my Pixel 2, it bricked right after the first pushed out update. Had to go into DFU settings to get it to reformat. Definitely was not a good first impression of the Pixel line and one of multiple reasons I'm a *former* Pixel fan. I had other 'core phone' functions act up during my time as a Pixel owner, like the time when the 'Hey Google' hotword just stopped working until an update fixed it a couple months later. It's like Pixel tries to release all these impressive, high tech features while missing on the core fundamentals.

I'm hoping next week though. I don't think either are really on sale for much and the airpods one is the typical sale amount which isn't a BF special discount.

Thank you for this honest (as always) report. I'm still confused with this Pixel incident. Oh man, it's always things like these that make me think Google is actually pushing users to go iPhone. I mean, not many people carry a 2nd phone with them on a trip. How can you trust and rely to your most personal device when such things happen and especially when you're on a trip, far from the convenience of your home ? I'm looking at my P7 Pro differently now, after this video. I don't even have official Google in my country and have to import it. Getting a replacement would not be possible for me.

@@ThisIsTechToday Not with the 7 Pro, but in 2018 I had a Pixel and it did this on a work trip. I love what Google offers for the price and the camera looks hard to beat outside of spending twice as much nearly, but the inconsistent quality issues gives me reservations. I depend on the device for work and financial stuff, and while there's no issues with the S20 FE I'm rocking right now, I'd love to update a bit.

Was it from it hitting 0% of battery? The one thing I would say is that most people would charge throughout their trip and not let it run to 0% so it may be something you wouldn't encounter.

That seems very different from what I experienced. It happened after hitting 0% battery. I've owned every pixel and haven't had it bricked before or from charging. I want to be careful about saying this is common especially when the variables are different in our experiences.

I have a regular Pixel 7 and can say that the battery life is just average. What really helped is when I disabled 5G which I don't really need because I only do casual web browsing and navigation

After having tested pretty much any phone my carrier can hand out, all the android phones (that are comparable to the Pixel 7) are within an hour or so of SoT. This might as well be margin of error and might shift with updates. But coming from a 3 year old Huawei P30, none of these phones are an upgrade battery wise and this is utterly disappointing.

I’ve been lucky in that hasn’t happened to me with the 7. Though I usually won’t let it get that far down if I can avoid it. As it is once you got down to 11% it should have been on a charge. Especially if you knew it was going to be used later. Yes your battery consumption was worse than it should be. That said you were pushing it more and than many people would. Still it was a good learning experience.

No issues with battery life on my pixel 7 Pro, been using it since 6am, it's now 5.15pm and I'm at 51% battery Lots of RU-vid videos watched, some photos taken, calls and Spotify all while using Bluetooth I have had mine for quite a while though and it's adaptive battery learning algorithm has certainly improved battery life vs the first few days. Pixel 6 pro on the other hand...

Hmm...my original Pixel did this to me as well but it was after I paid to have the battery swapped out after about 3+ years of use. I was super pissed and assumed it was the shop I took it to but now... But I always travel with a backup phone. Generally my previous one. Doesn't matter how good and reliable your phone is sh+t happens cause life happens. Lost phone, cracked screen, bricked, etc.

Okay, that doesn’t sound like what happened to mine at all. Mine was bricked which means I cannot use it at all and it didn’t happen during use. You can still use it and we’re able to keep using it. It seems like it’s working fine now. It’s a great phone.

Right off the bat I had to point out that you have not (maybe because you don't know about it?) set up the "STOP" command for alarms on your Pixel 7 Pro. You can go to Settings - Apps - Assistant - Quick phrases and toggle on Alarms and timers. This allows you to just say "STOP" and the alarm (and timers) will shut off. You can also toggle on "Incoming calls" and you can answer an incoming call just by saying "Answer", decline a call by saying "Decline" or stop it from ringing by saying "Silence". As for the battery, I was wondering why you didn't plug the phone in to charge it once it got to 3%? You even have a built-in charger on your suitcase, so, uhmmm...what? Surely you had to shower when you got to your room, so, charge the phone then? Any phone, including iPhones will drain way more battery when taking pictures and videos all day long. This is to be expected. Having a suitcase with a built-in phone charger and not using it when the phone gets to 3%, that is NOT expected. lol Great video as always. Really enjoy your cinematography.

Personally, I would have just stated "I don't think it will last through my dinner party so I'm going to charge it..." in the video. Either way, great video as always.

@@NOLATechy it hit 3% mid dinner, not before I went out. And no, that's not the point. I was going to use it until it ran out. Plus, the dinner went later than I expected. It should have been fine to plug it in after, charge it and get my photos and videos like any other time. Plus, I have a backup phone so I didn't need to charge it before going out. It is important to understand the point of the video and what it is showing. It is also important to not give passes to devices for things when reviewing them.

I have been dying / saving money to buy pixel 6 pro. I could never do it, but managed to buy the 7 pro this BF deal. You see, i am way across the Pacific where google doesn't sell this phone, so not only acquiring the phone is difficult but the logistics behind are also difficult and expensive. But i wanted to gift my amazing lady a unique product, and she was done with the iPhone. Now after seeing this video, i am afraid , i am very afraid . My pixel 7 pro is scheduled to arrive to my country in the next 20 days. My wife will be shattered beyond comprehension with the way i have been hyping the pixel (since 6pro) and if the phone bricks like this. She has been hinting at her friends that her upgrade phones is truly a unique device. I took huge risk, no service, no 5g , and no warranty.. i wished i saw your video 3 days ago.

Pixel is the worst phone to travel with due to their spotty 5G/4G combability. The amount of countries the phone simply wont work as intended is staggering, unacceptable for a 2022 phone. Google artificially blocked 5G connectivity in countries it decided not to release the phone, which could be unlocked with a simple root. Anyway, I always enjoy your videos. They are great.

It’s actually not uncommon for people to have a work and personal phone, especially if they travel. Also, having an extra phone shouldn’t be unusual for someone who reviews phones. Well, what to say, I have never let my pixel's get to 0 % charge, I always charge before it gets to 10% you would think that someone who reviews and rates phones would do the same. Follow the rules and you won't get in trouble. It's not the phone's fault it is yours.
