The duo is a work device, not really setup for social video/camera stuff. I think Microsoft added the cameras only because of the complaints from buyers . As someone who doesn't take pics a lot but needs to work with 2 or more apps at a time its perfect.

I don't think the complaints came from buyers feel like it was more so reviewers who had no intentions of using the device as a daily driver.

This was an amazing video sir. I have to say that I watch tons of RU-vid videos every single day and thus one was one that stood out as about the best I've seen. The music, the presentation, the actual real life, day in the life was amazing. I liked and subscribed immediately. Please keep bringing more of this great stuff. I love my duo 2 by the way.😁😁

Your voice is lovely. Most reviewers just talk specs and rehearse the same talking points. I really appreciate the more grounded and thoughtful commentary.

Yeah, I agree! I'm surprised it lasted that long but looking at my screen on time it wasn't that high. I would say that is both down to me being busy and that the duo forces you to use your device differently. I find myself getting distracted less because it's closed and I have to open it to use it. Some people might think that is good others might say that is bad. Overall it is pretty impressive for a thin device with 2 screens to last that long.
@nycbike73

@@damanimc I agree, for it being so thin it goes a long way. I also find that I am not as distracted due to the form factor.

I will say, considering the brightness level, recordings, photos and videos it held up fairly well. Also considering it's a dual screen device. I've had mine since November of last year. I've been really enjoying it especially with all the recent updates to make it perform smoother. Great video Great video.

Yeah, I just said this. It is very impressive considering it is a dual-screen and thin device. That's something I haven't seen many people give it credit for.

Nice Vid. Saw you using the Sony headphones. Does the Surface Duo 2 supports LDAC? Could not find anything about this codec at Microsoft’s HP.

The battery and speakers are 👎🏾 The next duo needs a 5000mh or 6000mh battery and better speakers for me.

I'm watching this video and I think you're really missing the point of this particular device. You're buying the form factor with the ability to multitask. This isn't the Galaxy fold 2/3 it's a surface duo with a form factor different from other folding phones. I mean, I get it. Talk about how bad the camera is.. But this really isn't why you bought the phone. This thing carry on your task of your work from surface to duo to whatever Microsoft product you own. Good vid quality, however I still think you really dropped the ball on reviewing this. You're comparing a budget android phone with a duo, that's quite a stretch like reaching too far for this thing. You didn't really touch the performance of everyday use. You talk about battery just a bit, but the regular duo user won't be using two screens all the time. I think the reason we get this device is simply because how well built this phone is, it's not the typical slab glass on glass design although it is at the same time. It's got one of the best typing experiences. The multiwindow app use hits much different as to say a galaxy fold or a Huawei fold or anything close. So far there is nothing like this except the old axon dual display and even that phone was a major flop. LG had a similar concept but that was a big flop too. I think for the price range it's worth every cent you paid for. Because you're buying for the utility and that does not mean you have to have crazy cameras with that utility. Check out R/SurfaceDuo and you'll be surprised at what you see there.

Hi, I appreciate your feedback. I’ll try and cover performance more in future videos!! In terms of usage at the end of the day, I am just showing how I used the duo on that one particular day. I did use the single screen on various occasions in the video whether that was folded or tent mode. Usage can vary a lot from day to day and person to person, it is what it is. As much as you might not buy the duo for its camera I'm sure there are many people out there who would still want a camera that can do the basics well. I was comparing the stabilisation of the duo to a phone that is 1/7th of the start price. It’s not like I was comparing it to a flagship or even a midrange phone and expecting it to hold up. The cameras were also a big change from the duo 1 so it's of course going to be an area of interest..was having the device not fold flat worth it for these new cameras etc. Although the camera is not the main attraction the duo also presents a unique experience through its laptop mode, its photo previews (on the 2nd screen) etc. And it's a shame that you can’t really fully take advantage of the form factor. I feel most of the issues I covered in the video are with the software. Having an better than flagship camera experience could have easily made up for the below flagship quality cameras in a device that has so much more to offer.

@@damanimc I think it's software compared to day one when it first released... It shows promise. I think if by chance by Duo 3 perhaps it's camera and software will be truly at optimum form for what it's trying to achieve. I have a duo first gen, I also have a galaxy fold 3. I like both devices although I prefer the duo wide display and it's typing experience on that device. However it's camera it decent. There's no duo 2 in the country I live in unfortunately. That was going to be the next phone I was going to purchase over the fold three. I don't knock your video. I think first gen duo suffered from bad build quality from the plastic frame cracking and or chipping.. Software was ass and hardly any protection. Had to replace the phone three times because sweat drop rendered my phone useless with the surface duo. Hopefully duo two changed those things which made duo one not so good. Despite my salty experience I grew to love the phone more. Helped me be on my phone less because no outer display. That means no distractions that means I can mute my device and call or text back whenever I felt like it. Quite the amazing excuse to give people whenever you don't want to be bothered 😂 Yes, hopefully better cam stabilisation, a bit better processing and I think this phone would be more of a champ. However I think it's a champ in the right hands. It's definitely not a multimedia beast like fold 3 or two or anything else similar. It is a work beast, a texting beast, a email beast and sure you can RU-vid one screen and reddit the next screen. Like you demonstrated, manga both screens and handle this phone like an electronic book at the same time. It's definitely a smart device. At the same we have to think a bit differently, I don't want to give this phone a pass on having a bad camera and that's not really my angle. I just think one size fits all doesn't really apply to everything. I'm okay with duo having only a selfie camera and I mean a really good selfie camera that can be a main camera also... But I also don't care if it had no cameras and came with some really nice state of the art hardware with well optimised software. But I guess that is where we differ in opinions 😁
@damanimc
@damanimc 2 года назад
@@AaIsForAaliyas I would also prefer no camera if it meant that it could fold flat. I understand its not going to be a great camera considering the constraints they have. Thats all the more reason Microsoft, the software company lol, needs to have good software. Their computational photography if they want to include a camera that's not flagship quality is going to have to be a lot better. I think adding the camera gives people the expectation that its going to operate like a normal phone. Maybe the duo has a different place, I totally agree its more of a productivity / work device. It might also suit minimalists who don't want excessive features and just want to get stuff done. It would be interesting to see Microsoft change there positioning because at the moment it seems like they're half trying to make a phone half trying something new nad not really committing fully either way. Maybe what I'm describing is the void that the surface neo never filed. Who knows.

Very nice to see a full day of useage. I still am hesitating just because of the fact that I have to open it to answer calls, everytime. Is it annoying or do you get used to it ?
@damanimc
@damanimc Год назад
To be honest I don't get many calls and I use earphones to answer a lot. Rather than being annoying, it can be satisfying to open and close, I mostly find it annoying when I only have one free hand, Which can be a lot depending on the day can be a lot. It really depends on your use case with the device, if you take a lot of calls with your hands a lot I can see it being annoying. It would be nice to have an outer display, that would let you just quickly answer.
