Tracey Rowan Scared is an undertstement.. lol Even though I was nervous and clumsy taking my fist apical pulse on an actual pt. I loved every single minute of this day :D
Not Your Concern That’s so amazing!! I was nervous on my first day and could barely go into a patient’s room and get their vitals. It may not seem like what you do in clinicals is life changing, but it is. The patients you have will remember you. They may not remember your name, but they remember how you helped and supported them.
I just want to point out that a lot of EMS protocols do include needle cricothyrotomy and in most cases use a 14-gauge angio; so that was actually realistic.
Watch "Scrubs". I've seen articles calling it the most accurate medical series out there, but to my knowledge, none of the articles are by real doctors.
Scrubs is fantastic. Medically it's ok on it's accuracy. (Actually got a med school question right because of scrubs.... Don't judge) The show itself though is about the lives of the characters and very rarely about the medical diagnosis and isn't over dramatized on the medical side of things.
Oh the hospital in Hollywood. Ten doctor doing all the work as one nurse is in the ER on the floor Doing X-ray and scrubbing in the OR all in the same day. Oh and doing the hot doc too Damm that is one hell of a nurse
How do we transform health care when our government (Manitoba, Canada) is trying to fire nurses and delete positions? We need more nurses, not less. Our pediatric patients are becoming more complex, more acute, and kids are going to die more often with the removal of critical resources. We are saving 23 week prems, but who is going to look after them when they get RSV?
It was nice that they focused on diagnosis and treatment, it absolutely drove me insane that they would never seemingly admit the patient to the hospital even after they had cardio thoracic surgery.
I was feeling crummy with a cold and my the end of this video I felt much better! I’d watch Dr Z watch that silly show for the whole season. Hilarious. I’m not even in the medical field, but I thoroughly enjoyed this.
“No pulse, no BP, cyanosis, rigor mortis- I need a defib ventilator.” Say, what? Wow, who knew those first three signs went along with rigor? Or you could treat it with a defib ventilator. LOLOL! Is this supposed to be a comedy show? New Amsterdam, I mean. We *know* that *your* show is 😜😄🤪😁 It would make a cool chant: No pulse, No BP, Cyanosis, Rigor mortis
I made time to watch a new TV show for the first time in YEARS (I don’t watch TV much because I am a student)... mostly because I thought “New Amsterdam” was going to be Medicine 3.0. The production company needs to hire you ASAP. Meanwhile, I loved your commentary. 😂😂😂😂
Man, can you imagine if that had been a white dude telling a black woman they can't bang because she's black? This show would've been yanked in the middle of the sentence that followed that....
Critical Care PA of 32years; Note to self: Watch the new medical comedy New Amsterdam on Tuesday nights, at 9p...scratch that, DVR it, 'cause I'm working 72 hrs this week, 24 hrs that day, and billing the SHIT out of insurance using the Severe Sepsis Bundle!! #saltwaterpoisoning
Hey ZDoggMD! You are such an awesome guy. I love your content and the awareness it creates. I just have to say one thing. I know this show is very hypothetical and unrealistic but you being such an intelligent guy could have killed it with smart, sarcastic humour. You are so much better than using curse words in every line. That just kills the point. I hope you get my sentiment. Keep rocking and keep making awesome stuff. Respect
I love it, you watch medical shows like I watch military shows. I thought I was vicious. Well yeah, if you run in there like that your going to.... CALLED IT
Everything I learnt wrong from medicine I learnt from Hollywood. Like which surgeon take a few seconds to cut into the skin, straight to the ROI? Everyone goes by layers carefully avoiding vessels and nerves. But a serial or movie would be too boring if they showed the real thing....so they show 1 min incisions.
Z- take a film class. I need to tell you, “take the leap.” When my hubs said that in the movie “Cars” the cars could NOT have fixed the neon signs because they didn’t have hands or opposable thumbs. TAKE THE LEAP.
Scrubs is my favorite medical show and is at least close to being realistic, IMO. Code Black is fun to watch and better than some, however hard to believe that every day of the year they are busting out multiple surgeries in the middle of the ED.. :P This new show is verging on Grey's anatomy soapy medical territory. :) :)
I can’t stand these shows. I don’t understand why people ask you to watch them. The commentary can be funny. For instance, as a nurse in a code, if I was instructed to “give adrenaline” I would say...”Ummm...What? Exactly, which med do you want me to give this patient, Doctor? I have a few vasoactive meds here in this cute little tool box. None of them are called adrenaline. May I suggest some epinephrine, perhaps?” I cannot imagine anyone, who works in medical care, not looking at that physician like he’d lost his mind. The CNA giving chest compressions would momentarily pause. 🧐🤪😩
This is why I can't stand watching medical dramas. They run a code, I'm yelling what about..., you can't just call it... Non rebreathers or BVM's without the bag inflated, sucky CPR. The list goes on and on. BTW, our medical director was a grade A, pompous ass. At least this guy is good looking.
The doctor do not do end of life talks the nurse navigators do. But sadly they are few and far between, many are see their job cut because of cost savings. Seen it first hand.
I can't stand shows like this. Especially the insipid actors (like the male "lead") who basically hangs his entire performance on these sideways glances, raised eyebrows, and all-knowing nods of the head. It's complete BS, it's virtue-signaling at its worst, and mostly it's insulting.
Maybe any conversation about how messed up our health care system is..... is better than nothing? 🤔 I completely agree with you in their dramatics and completely ridiculous scenarios.... 😆.... They makes us all look like sexually charged buffoons, who randomly stab shit into people, and always have perfect outcomes. 🤣 Did you guys ever see Pure Genius during the one season it was on? I called it the Star Trek of medical shows. 😂 I’ll admit that I secretly liked the unrealistic premise of it though. Keep up the great content. Your channel is a great binge pleasure of mine. 😎
