Such a great renovation. When they were walking through the before house I was like OMG it’s the Land of Doors. It’s great they were able to reconfigure all the spaces and make it less compartmentalized and maze-like without going full open concept
I wish I could get you guys to renovate our home 😊. I feel I have seen all of your episodes and I have loved them all. Y'all truly listen to the homeowners and put "them" not "you" into the homes. That is something that makes y'all special ❤.
Ben looks Great , so glad he is feeling better . I liked what they did with this home especially opening the porch back up to a screen in porch . Just wished they would have opened the kitchen up more it's pretty closed off .
Nope, not an open kitchen. This is a faculty house, not an individuals home. They must be able to entertain guests in the living room while food, snacks, drinks area is separate.
I agree abt the lack of an island. There's quite a bit of empty floor space, which feels like No Man's Land. Not much counter space considering the square footage of the kitchen is generous. Plus, isn't the kitchen really important for entertaining to this couple? That's where ppl hang out!
I live in California, too, and was just mentioning them to my husband today. We're renovating a house to rent out, and I chose the front door color from the last Hometown video I watched. 🙂
This is a repost. I've seen it before but it was a shorter edit, I think. I remember that someone asked if that house belonged to the university or if the couple bought it. It used to be the "President's House" and usually those houses are occupied by whoever is president of the school/ uni at the time. When his/ her tenure is over, then their family has to leave the house. Anyway, it's another great reno by B&E. I'm glad that they didn't make it fully open concept. It's a newer vid since Ben has lost weight - must be after his health scare & shoulder surgery.
Er hatte einen Herzinfarkt glaub ich also da hat's ihm die Kilos so runtergehaut. Ich finde er sieht blass aus, er muss jetzt mehr auf sich achten, der Stress tut ihm nicht gut. Beide müssen eigentlich auf sich aufpassen auch Erin hat immer wieder Krankenhausaufenthalte. Sie haben Kinder und da zählt Gesundheit.
Very well done. One thing I wish would’ve been done though, is on the front walk when it bends at a 90° angle, to have the inside of that angle, a wider width than the rest of the sidewalk, and have it curved to match more of a natural walk flow, rather than have to walk straight, sharply pivot 90°, as if you were doing a military marching turn.
Erin is back to the exact hairstyle she had in 2009. Lol. Short hair really suits her. She has such a cute wardrobe, too. I didn't recognize Ben's face in that photo because he has so much facial hair. They are such a cute couple.
Finally a wall oven instead of a stove or under bench oven. Having had both I will never choose to have anything other than a wall oven and a separate cooktop. Easier to maintain both.

I HATE those posts holding up the awning. It destroyed the entire Craftsman vibe. Then Erin complains about some institutional vibe she wants to get rid of. But her constant choice of ugly ugly institutional green is annoying. Same choice in darn near every design she does. That's lazy. I'm obviously over her 3 trick pony designs. Including those trapped refrigerators.
Really pretty. Did it actually meet what they asked for? The living room has seating for five the dining room has max seating 10 maybe 16 even tho they said dinners for 20+ people.
I thought the house was beautiful just the way it was, minus the cheap cabinets. It seemed such a shame to destroy something that already looked so nice. But now it seems more usable for this cute young couple. I'd love to hear them play some more of their music in that gorgeous music room. Ben always builds something so special for the new owners, and this was no exception. That changing table is so, so nice!! What gorgeous wood. It sure is nice to have a room already set up for their baby. 🤍
