As promised the second guide today is about research bureau ships :D ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l9Rz5Bx9sS8.html The coal ship guide will be released tomorrow! I would really appreciate if you could sub to the channel so we can soon reach the magic 20k! Thank you for everything! Stay safe and healthy!
Am mostly a potato player... But your uploads and advices really help me understand the game and improve myself... Thats pure community contribution, you have not only my gratitude, but also my respect... Keep on doing such a great job!!!
Slava is hands down the worst spend of resources I've ever made in the game. Through either the combination of players I encounter being higher quality than average (maybe due to my play times), my lack of skill in BB positioning, or likely a combination of the two, every time I play the Slava I have 12 ships with their bows pointed at me all game. I hate playing it, it is not a fun gaming experience. Even when you do find someone that makes a mistake and you dev strike them, it doesn't make up for the other 19.5minutes of the match there were boring as shit. 100% recommend skipping it. God damn.
Ok, got Ohio, next Illinois, then Vampire. I hate Slava and the people who play it. If they're on my team they just sit up the back and do nothing useful. If they're on the enemy team they snipe the whole match then run into the border like chimps.
I've watched John the Ruthless play the Colbert many times on his Twitch stream. I think it's his favorite ship. It's absolutely amazing how he plays it. He's actually very aggressive with the ship, and uses a good deal of angling from oncoming shells, and for the most part doesn't spend the match hiding behind island. His typical game is somewhere over 200k and 3+ kills. It's got a high skill ceiling, but he has mastered it and it's a joy to watch. (Edit: meaning that what Trenless said was right on... It's a very difficult ship to master, but in the hands of an expert it's outrageously deadly.)
I'm excited about the coal ship review upcoming. There's been a lot of new ships added since everyone else's rankings and it's hard to locate up to date opinions.
THis is what I needed since I am finishing the grind of RB Points and I need to decide what ship to take. I have Ohio, Slava and Illinois. But I dont know what to go for next, so this was helpfull :)
I do have Vampire and Slava. Vampire i really enjoy playing it with the smoke+hydro and good DPM for contesting caps to dds. SLAVA i do love this ship it is not an OP ship because the 406mm on bow in enemy ships overpen or they ricohet, i rarely do 12k on a bow in ship. But when the enemy show their side my GOD the amount of HP u can deleted from the enemy. And this ship helped me to position and be patient to release my shot on the perfect moment
Appreciate the advice. On the fence on the whole Research Bureau thing, but may give it a try. I only have four lines unlocked to Tier X, but on reflection I don’t play the U.S. tech tree destroyers and battleships that much ( too much power creep at individual tiers for my modest abilities) so may give it a shot.
Thank you sooo much for these guides. btw: It would be high skill *floor*, Dear Master Trenlass, not skill-gap. ;-) i.e. The skill-level / floor you need to reach (or gap I would need to close, viewed from my potato position) in order to be effective with a ship. Sometimes skill-level or skill ceiling, although the latter is used wrongly most of the time. Aiming with Colbert is taxing, when you try to avoid being dev-struck by a Yamato and an Iwami at the same time. Perhaps I should go for shorter range and faster reload ? - Hey, how about a series about CVs and Subs ? - LOL, OK, now I'm just messing with you. - Keep up the great work.
Heavily diaagree on Gibraltar. Yes the side armour is much worse than Goliath, but the bow armour is much better. Goliath notoriously takes weird citadels through the bow area, when you'd think angling would protect you. Gibraltar can sit bow in and tank anything smaller than 18" fairly comfortably. Gib also moves like an RN CL, making it much more comfortable to play and reposition. The AP is strong and the secondaries are decent (same as Goliath, but i fibd Gib tends to get closer). Gib is my go to ranked ship. Kills dds so quickly and handles everything else fairly well.
Everything you say about the Druid's weaknesses is true, making it very situational. BUT, if you can get that situation, very strong. Yet, I picked up the Vampire after the Ohio. If someone asks, that's still the first two ships I recommend. Enjoy the vids.
Then you're playing the Druid wrong. So in a division, the Druid is OP. Let's be honest, most of the DDs I meet ride broadside. You can do dmg easily enough. You also have British smokes, heal, with cunningham even +1 more of your coms. after you kill two xD. Of course you can't shoot from the front row, it's best if you have a good Div driver who also plays DD and who drives 1-2km in front of you. When the dd sees your colleague, he moves away and you just shoot at it xd it always works. But I'm totally against the vampires, as others might say, super good. Precisely because you have the creeping fog... EVERYONE OF THE OPPONENTS knows where you are, and you can't just stand there. The puff is so small. Daring is much better, heal, small lots of smokes... my Z52 or Z42 also has the 5km hydro or better. How often can you easily take out a V2 because it smoked and you simply have 1km more with your 6km hydro xD, even when I played V2... I was outplayed so often. Of course they were Unicum players like me, but that's the point. But as you can see, everyone has their own advantages and favorites xD. I got Hector recently, it's decent but not amazing. The guns are small and the rof isn't great, but the torps are great. It feels less survivable than Colbert sometimes Overall, I enjoy it and have had one really good games in it. It's like a weird crossbreed between the RN and Pan Asian CLs. I found you almost always want to be kiting the enemy, if possible.
I love slava but when I get uptiered into a supership game the satsuma always focuses me first when the cv isn't spotted, and having yamato levels of meh armor on a ship the size of a small city, those 20inch guns hurt even when bow on. So that's why I would prefer the ohio because overall the armor is better and with a improved heal and one more heal than slava eating 30k - 40k salvos doesn't feel as bad
I made the mistake and bought the Druid as my first research bureau ship and i totaly agree with you! Unless the enemy DD sucks you will lose against any other DD that will fight you for a cap. Only 3km hydro, no HE ammunition and such a bad stealth value that any enemy DD can turn away before you even see him. In comparison Marceau is far faster, has many torps, has HE and STILL has better stealth. All of that for what? A Daring with less hydro range and no HE ammunition? It just feel like a far worse Daring to me.
