A response to Hamza Maqbool (Deobandi/Maliki) - Mufti Abu Layth al-Maliki 

MALM is rational, sensible, and backs up his arguments with evidence added with his unique style of laughter...

I really enjoy his sense of humour. It's infectious. Like.. there's a part of me saying, don't agree with this guy and then there's another part of me saying.. geeza's a BAALLLEERR. LOL. Just seems like a really down to earth guy. I just hope that his views and opinions aren't misguiding our youth.

I would understand if he'd never been to your home and seen your personal library. That was actually a very important point. Mufti, I don't agree with you on some points of philosophy and creed, and I'm Hanafi anyway; but if I were Maliki, you would definitely be the one I'd learn from. This is all such a shame. It's a silly distraction, muqallids of other madhhabs challenging you when they don't know the Maliki madhhab (or they imagine and then insist that it works the way their own does for some reason), but another Maliki, who you'd think should know better, is playing the same games. Shameful.

Awesome reply mufti! I just started following you and have learned a lot from your videos. Unfortunately, this is just the start mufti. Brace yourself, for just like you said, hate runs deep and there will be much more who will come bashing you any opportunity they get. You have my support and I wish to sit in your company and learn the school of Madinah once Allah gives me a chance. JazakaAllah!

They are committed to some basic dogmas. That older rulings and interpretations are fundamental to the religion and not open to questioning and discussion. That the interpretations of their dominant schools cannot be questioned. That Hadeeth and Quraan are not open to interpretation. They are also particularly vulnerable to class and gender prejudices. They are really dominant here in South Africa and have had very positive influences on some areas of Islamic revival, and less so in others. An extremely closed compact that won't admit mistakes made in the past. Slow to change. But still, with time, they do adapt their positions.
