I've said it before, but another game you can play once is Tunic. It may seem like a generic adventure game at the beginning, but when you discover the real part of the game, it becomes a game you remember forever
I played it months ago, and I actually sat down and decoded the language. IT CHANGES SO MUCH. Also, I move that we change written English to those runes.
2:12:16 in case there is some confusion here: None of the travelers around the campfire during the ending are really there. They all died in the supernova. Solanum died/lives in a Schroedinger way and the real body of the Prisoner rotted in the sarcophagus long ago. You can see and talk to them at the campfire (even Solanum and the Prisoner, who normally can't even speak your language) because the eye is reflecting your memories of them in some surreal 2001 Space Odyssey way, but they aren't really there in the flesh.
1:13:06 can I just say how unhinged it is to bust into someone's planet, make first contact with a new species and the very first things they hear is "Explain me."
and me wondering how soon after we visit a planet with life on it we just assume an animal species has no intellect based off our flawed preconceived notion based on earth species. and get curious what they taste like.
This playthrough was a joy to watch, I just finished binging it over a couple weeks. I loved your obvious enthusiasm and passion for the game, even when chasing red herrings/false theories. You did a great job and should be proud that you ultimately figured everything out without looking it up.
I love the fact you went back into a game like Outer Wilds and tried to go back to things you may have missed in, loved this video and it’s the play through or near onto the period where I started watching your videos and eventually subscribing to your channel and haven’t missed a video since👍. I have to say, I’ve watched other play throughs of this game even before yours and that’s the first time I’ve ever seen the scout fly through the end part after the credits run😂. Hope your weekend was awesome Maggie, take care👍.
29:15 you keep saying the autopilot has a landing procedure that you never use. But there is no such feature! I'm not sure where you got that idea haha edit: She's talking about the landing camera, which is unrelated to autopilot
learns to meditate until next loop, immediately opens pause menu and sees new entry "meditate until next loop", doesn't think that has anything to do with what she just did lol
Hey, you've yet to delve into the heart of Timber Hearth. The geysers offer a path within. Consider capturing your journey on video; there's much to uncover in that sacred space.
You didn't notice it, but after warping the Vessel over to The Eye, there is something moving across the stars. I wonder what it could be... The scout and such is of less importance, but I do think doing the ending of the main game again is far better conclusion to the DLC.
Thanks for going back to OW. It deserves. You wanna know what I did after completing OW and the DLC? Since I´m a big fan of movie Soundtracks (Interstellar, Chinatown, Taxi Driver, Islands on a Stream, Cast Away), I managed to download the complete soundtracks of both games, put them on my cellphone, and for a long time, a played them back to back on a loop at night, after going to sleep. You can imagine how peaceful those nights were. BTW, I´ve done the same with other game soundtracks (Journey, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter)
You should also see some of the speed runs some people have done in this game (even the devs reacted to a speedrun and had fun watching it) , some people managed to complete the game without ever using either the spaceship or spacesuit (not both at the same time yet), both base and dlc. Also check out all the achievements as some of them are pretty cool. Maybe you can go for a try at some of them yourself one day.
This is another awesome Friday afternoon with Kasta and Ginger in the Outer Wilds and i hope that you both have a beautiful weekend Thanks again Kasta and Ginger.🖤🐈🖤
A shame that you only did this after having played through it already, wish someone would have told you not to cut it short before. The ending felt abrupt and uncomplete. I am glad that you went back to it for yourself though and it seems like you have a better picture of it now. Replaying it is kind of impossible because you know everything already, but thats why we religiously come back to watch other people play it. I agree, most people still look at games like a childish thing that is just wasting time. They dont know how many great and mature stories we have in games these days. I hope many will discover these masterpieces over time.
I have watch all your Playthrough of Outer wilds. that was great ! i see a lot of people recommended tunic and yes that a great game. But I think Return of the Obra dimn is a best fit !
This was so awesome to watch. DIdn't know you had done this until I was rewatching the series again and got to part four of echoes and saw a new video I hadn't watched! So cool. Hey! Quick question...did you ever establish a PO Box for fan gifts? Would still like to send you book one of my Sci-fi series book! I think you may enjoy it! :D
I'm not sure what platform you're playing on, but if it's PC -- and forgive me if I sound like Oliver Twist asking for more -- I'd love to see you play some of the Outer Wilds mods, some of which are really excellent, especially "Astral Codec" and "Magistarium." (the latter is like an alternate ending to the Hatchling's adventures).
I'm so excited to watch this!! I'm so glad I subscribed to your channel and I found your content through this playthrough and I've been enjoying watching your videos they're amazing 🎉🎉🎉 you're the best 💖 I hope you have an awesome weekend
still surprises me that the developers have watched lets plays and the LS lock on issue isnt something they could be bothered to fix? must be some weird thing about that specific issue that fixing it would be too complicated? weird how its the only key that doesnt auto switch back to controller when you alt+tab out of the game. yet you can just locking with the mouse in game then press LS and it fixes no needing to mess with menus or reload or anything. not that the information is useful now lol. So many people make such a big deal about the footprints. i mean its your hint that he ended his own existence. if you can call it that. he knows they are all dead. i imagine part of the shared vision with him was you letting him know you are also dead but they kinda gloss over that. so he gives a happy vision of "lets sail off into the afterlife together" but yea obviously there are real codes to open the vault while alive so you can go back and see his corpse if you wanted but nothing really special there just that he is dead.
I'd like to think they choose not to fix it, or possibly it was intentional, so you don't depend on it always. She got much better flying and landing throughout the game play because the auto pilot didn't always work.
I am so glad to watch your playthrough and hear everything your said about Outer Wilds in the credit, it remind me so many emotional feeling from the first time finish it.
I've been saying the same thing about appreciating video games and how far they've come. Trust me I've had the same talks about it with others too, haha. It's nice to relate about it with others finally
1:44:00 - Good news is that you don’t actually HAVE to do it all over again. Just like Solanum, once they’re freed, you’ve done your job and nothing changes, no matter how many resets you make (you can go back and visit them again, but they are now a part of you), you will still meet them At The End Of All Things (TM).
Oh, right, but you wanted to see the beach again. So yes, you do need to free him again for that. Just like if you wanted to talk with Solanum about the nature of The Eye or whatever.
Even just hearing the music in this game just brings a smile to my face. Glad you revisited this. Seeing the prisoner with everyone and no longer alone was a great feeling. I like that his species gets a fresh new start with everyone else.
The "meditate until next loop" option appears after Gabbro tells you how to meditate. Its a handy QoL feature but can be too easily used. That may have been me after falling into the black hole so I did not discover the white hole station till much later. A quicker way to move the shrine is to use your flash-light instead of the shrines light, the same way you did at the ending. As the Owlks had long since been dead physically the prisoner knew what walking into the water meant, his body would also be dead. There is not normally a way to free the prisoner without being dead however people have brute forced (or data-mined the game code) the codes so is technically possible to do it without the glitches. I think I have read that if you unlock the vault without dying you can enter it in the real world and see the body. You could have just marked the vessel instead of escape pod 3 as you have been there before as it would have saved time, but you had plenty compared to the literal last second you did it last time. For the scout to do anything it has to be fired into the vortex of the Eye. It's not much, you just see the scout fly by in the new universe (it actually showed if for you so it must not need to be fired directly into the vortex). There is also an extra exhibit in the museum section from the DLC talking about the Owlks. There are still other things to see if you are curious, some endings and Easter eggs to find. I don't know if you saw what happens inside the ATP when it is activated. There are still new things I discover even after watching a load of playthoughs. I saw something new today on Hollows lantern from watching someone.
I love your analysis of the Prisoner choosing death, while the others of his kind were too afraid of death. I hadn’t thought of that before, but I love that interpretation. Remembering the Prisoner’s last projection to us, they treated death like just another adventure, one they were glad to embark on with us. 🥹
