Contrary to popular beliefs, a retwist is not supposed to loc your hair. OK. Then what locs hair? Time . If you want your hair to loc faster, wash it frequently. #krismcdred #locs #dreadlocks #retwist
@davinbuchman it seems like some of my roots are thin my hair was to soft to start with twist or anything else then braids.. after the braids I tried the pal roll but I sweat ALOT so they didn't say I had no choice but to interlock and now some are thin😞
Not going to lie your the reason i started my loc journy and now i feel like they are more than just my locs their my unique foot print throughout my lifes journey.
All facts. I’ve had interlocked and palm rolled, interlocks locked damn near in a week 😂 Palm rolls look crispy for a few weeks but start to unravel and puff up quick. Both look dope af to me 🔥
This makes so much sense. I have fine hair and the only thing that locs my hair is crocheting and interlocking. It was easier when first starting my locs bc I could just let it do it’s thing and take all the time it needs to loc. But after years, I can’t wait 6 months for that new growth to loc up. I don’t even palm roll anymore. Just interlock it!
Yessss! I get questions from others asking why their roots won’t lock… they’re not supposed / going to! 💚🌱 unless you’re using one of those other methods you named. Just takes time as they move on down.
It actually depends on your hair texture. My hair has always locked just fine. Interlocking shortens your true length and crotchet is a new method. Two strand twist works just fine and coils just give the cylinder shape. It’s just moisture, time and patience that actually locs your hair if it’s not INSTANT LOCKED, simple
Disagree on interlocking shortening your hair, it depends on the technique . I have sisterlocks and use a 4-point method for retighten, it’s basically a tool-assisted woven reverse-braid technique, it doesn’t make knots like other methods
Advice for anyone starting I started with a bald head and just let it grow I used a sponge for 4 months washed once every two weeks and used citcus oil and aloe Vera gel and let it be it grew now my hair is damn near at my shoulder after just one year. You have to let it be we're all different what you eat matters. It's so cool never had long hair before. Just let it be and remember to wash your hair. Dirty hair does not grow and it will break off.
It all depends on texture but time is definitely a factor for all hair types. Some locs longer to loc than others. Ive started most of my clients w/2-strand twists & palm rolling. The silkier hair takes longer than nappy hair textures, in my experience... and i have caucasian clients as well. Gotta be patient either way. But yes, interloc'ing is immediate results
dude you’ve just about been the best damn person for loc advice i’ve been able to find over the years. your videos helped me start my first set of locs in high school and they helped me start/maintained my current set
I disagree. Interlocking is for those that desire to shampoo their hair often. Palm rolling vs Interlocking should be recommended based on the client's lifestyle. For example: those that workout regularly & sweat in their head. Its to maintaining good hygiene, not a sign of impatience.
When I was considering locs I saw this video. I installed instant locs using the crochet hook. So thanks!! That was the best method for me and I LOVE my locs!!
I’ve been retwisting(palm rolling, etc) since I started my hair and my hair started locking in the first 3 months. It’s been locking just fine ever since.
I am relieved. Thank you for this information. I wear two strand twists and refresh bi-weekly. Palm/finger rolling my roots using glycerin/water/oil mix caused some concern about my twists locking. Not interested at all in the loc style. Just not for me. But thanks again for the info.
This hair is EVERYTHING. im ponderimg if we would consider these small wicks or thick locs. Im feeling like he achieved small luxurious wicks. Which makes it even more impressive.
I’m five months in, and retwisted 3 separate times. My locs unraveled every time I started interlock the roots and my hair hasn’t moved. The man isn’t lying.
I’m almost 4 months in. My initial installation was comb coils and it didn’t last a month. I went back and switched to interlock. I haven’t had any maintenance for almost 3 months and my hair is locking up and growing like crazy! He is so right!👍🏼
@@moniquerandall3853just so you know you can't switch from interlocking to Palm rolling.. The introduction hair sheds off over time... Is either interlock or Palm roll... Not Both
@@wildwaymonee8o8 I switched to interlocking because the comb coils did not work for me. That was my initial installation, a one time event. I’ve been interlocking every since. I have no intentions of doing both. Interlocking works for me.
💯💯 Yup! I’m 7.5 years in and I just discovered this. Palm rolling pissed me off. But I just started interlocking and I used the .5 crochet needle to seal them as well. I will NEVER palm roll again.
Exactly! I went to a new loctician. When she pulled out the slop I said no!!!!! I had to show her how to crochet myself 😡😡I explained that the slop/dryer doesn’t work…ugh!!!!
This is true... I let my hair free form for 3 years and i didnt do anything but put water on it every day and massage the water on there everyday and it locced on its own ..my fiance use to ask me after she sees me ..." Did you locc your hair". I always say no.. i just wash it everyday and let it go sooner or later it became loccs... I literally just got it done Friday...
It's been about 3 months and im already loc-ing! It def depends on your hair type and your hair regime as well, but moisture, time, and maintanence is key.
I started mine with calm twisting now I get my palm roll but my hair is locking up just fine. I’m not saying you’re wrong because obviously you’re doing something that works but it’s working for me.
I just separate and light twist my locs after every wash to catch loose hair. Just water and time...for sure. I lost 2 loc crocheting, but IDK what i was doing 😅😅
Ima be honest, everytime I get a retwist, sometimes my retwist do loc up from the my root at times like 40%, my hair is already locked because I use the crochet needle of course to lock it💯
Palm rolling in fact DOES lock your hair. Crocheting is not a requirement. My locs were palm rolled, my father’s locs were palm rolled, and so were my grandfather’s. Everyone’s hair is different.
he saying the act of doing that doesnt lock up the hair, which it doesnt. doing that and leaving it allows it to lock naturally into the sections that you want instead of being all over the place like freeforms are. its still just time and water like he said.
I just started my journey a week ago. I got the two strand twists. I washed my hair already. I think it's senseless to not wash your hair until the 4th week mark. Even though my twist didn't unraveled, it did loosen up. I think i have to interlock my hair.
When I was in my 30’s and early 40’s I had two strand twist done. This was so long ago, I’m now 60. People would stop me in the streets to find out who was locking my hair. It was very thick back then and not so today. I had to tell them my hair wasn’t locked it was just twisted. They would give me a puzzled look as though I was lying or they were confused. For whatever reasons that’s what my hair looked like and I always retwisted every two weeks. I think my hair was semi locking and that’s why people thought I had locs.
When it’s time for my next re-twist I’m going to take your advice and not bleach my hair, but I do wanna lighten it and I’m also going to try interlocking
Thank youuuuu so much this makes the most sense I been so scared to interlock since I started my move because I don’t want them to thin but they be so frizzy
My hair is so thick and tight it will lock in 3 months. I semi free form locking my hair by backcombing my hair today. I am done doint my hair its getting way too expensive and taking alot of time and i am grinding more right now so dont got time to detangle and do hair foer 2 hours.
