Hey I’ve got 2 questions. 1. Are Widmar knobs good for tether traps? I’m mainly looking at the Stubbies. 2. Is there a way to make Widmars more grippy? I tried a friend’s and they kinda just slip out of my hands at times. Do you have that problem with them?

Yeah I find that the widmars or any 3d printed knobs are way too slick. Are you just liking the light weight of them and don't want a silicone knob? I don't know of a way to make that knob any grippier. Now on tether traps it depends on your rope. Doing them with static rope is terrible so something more flexible is better. A smaller rope like 8mm would probably work really good, anything bigger than 10mm makes them harder to do. I had a set of XLs with 10mm vpc and they were doable but not as consistent as I would like. I do think Stubbies are the best vs XL or Regulars though. I find them very consistent with rubber knobs

@@ThePoiMechanic I’m actually wanting quite heavy knobs to make my contact rolls and such easier. I’m rocking Pom Grip V2’s and 10mm AeroTech rope. I kinda just wanna switch it up to get a new feel ya know? I’m not opposed to silicone- I actually love the grip that my Pom V2’s have. My main attractions with the Widmars is the amount of washers you can fit into them and the shape is seemingly beneficial for tether trapping (which I’d love to be able to experiment with with my new setup). What kind of suggestions do you have for me as far as overall good, grippy, trappable handles? Should I stick with the Poms? Grip is more important- I can make tricks work if I need to

@@trevorbarnhart7501 I love the Eggknobs (not featured in this video because we hadn't made them yet) but thats for led handles. I love play and have been using them for years now. They came out with a version 3 which is like the first version but with a bigger rope hole and bigger washer space. You can get plenty of weight in them. The best tether trap spinner in the world uses them if that says anything

Thanks for your review and all your content on RU-vid. I'm wondering how many washers I could add to the Ultraknob Pro handles, either regular or Widmar? Thanks!

Im trying to decide between pom grips and sphere handles.. any advice?! I have been spinning pod poi with sphere for a few years and like them but it seems the pom grips are most popular on contact poi and I'm curious why?
@ThePoiMechanic
@ThePoiMechanic 3 года назад
I think the most popular are probably Widmars because it makes contact easier. The heavier knobs add a counter balance though and I love them for contact and it makes tossing much more controlled imo. Everyone's different though. Pom Grips are nice but version 1s are harder to find. Version 2s have an issue with bigger ropes causing them to split. Play spheres are grippy and feel great in your hand. Been spinning them for many many years now

I love tosses and contact rolls what is a good weight / style I should go for with 97/100mm heads?
@ThePoiMechanic
@ThePoiMechanic 4 года назад
Well tosses and contact is my main thing and I like a heavier handle like the play knob. But really it's no one size fits all. Most people like light handles especially when doing things like fishtails. I can't stand light handles because I feel like it really throws my tosses off and especially when doing contact because I don't have any weight pulling the tether around. I feel you have to put more effort into anti tosses especially. Chango is one of the best contact spinners in the world and his handles are 5 grams and stupid small. Chris Kelly is probably the best I've ever seen and he has something like 6 washers in his. I may try to make a video later talking about how knob weight and style can effect your tricks.
