This man makes some well thought out fire boxes. I love this off the ground fire box with grills. Sometimes you have to get your fire off the ground to leave no trace. Consider this man's set up.
Thank you so much Bill. I did get some Ideas from Johnny Nix but I did tweak it to make it my own. Thank you so much for your kind words we really appreciate it.
That was a fine display of ur fire box n excessories n very nicely done n l haven't decided if this box is the right size or should l make a smaller one fir our yard we live in Illinios right by Ohare airport n l keep transforming our yard with garden boxes n yard n patio furniture n it's been a tough battle.. n out if all the grills n boxes from everywhere especially Agentinian style l like urs the best it's simple n extremely effective ..l l pay attention to ur speech silvery n it tells me about ur character n l believe you are good holsim family man full of respect n talent keep in doing ur thing nicely done
Well thank you so much. Yes in hind site I would have built the fire box a little narrower but I would still keep the length. The way I built the box has let it warp over the years. I plan on rebuilding it so maybe keep an eye out for that. I do love the length and would never change that . Everything else has been working great though and I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you so much again
+TheDanVan thank you Dan. We sure are like to see all of your adventures. Do you have a Dutch yet? If you don’t you need to come over to the darkside and get one lol.
Thanks for this one. I'm in the UK and managed to find a smith to make me one very similar to yours, couple of modifications to suit me. Ive been searching for something like this for a couple of yrars, Happy it is being made now. Thanks,
Glad we could help. That is so awesome to hear that you found a smithy to make it for you. We would love to see videos of your set up. We have been contacted from people all around the globe that have used this for a set up. As I have always said I got my Idea from Johnny Nix and then made it my own and I am so glad that someone else has done the same from My and Rhonda's video. Cheers and I hope your set up gives you as many great cooks as Ours has given us.
Thank you so much. I really am proud of this set up. Yep we need to get one of those big coffee pots. We have had several people send us pictures of the setups that they have made. Glad we could give you some ideas and thanks for watching.
I bought the same bars, hooks and swing grill years ago for my late husband. We use to watch Johnny Nix cook on his. After my husband died my daughters and their family went to a state park and cooked the entire Thanksgiving meal over the campfire using my set and my Dutch ovens. I wish I had a fire box like you have.
First We are so sorry for your loss. We absolutely love Johnny Nix and in fact he is the inspiration for me building this set up. We have a few videos of us doing Johnny's recipes and are going to do more. I actually built my fire box bigger than the one he sold. That is so awesome that your girls cooked a Thanksgiving Day meal over the camp fire. I bet it was awesome. Thank you so much Jackie.
Thanks for going in depth about your set up! It’s pretty impressive. I gotta say that you’re making me wish we had Bucees here in Kansas😄! Can’t wait to see what you cook up next!
Buccees is so AWESOME! Seriously the one thing I miss about living in TX. Everytime someone would visit we'd tell them we were going to take them to Buccees and they would always ask why were taking them to a gas station. We'd say trust us you'll see. They always got hooked after 1 trip lol. Best thing at Buccees has to be their jerky and cake balls. Can't wait until they finish ours in FL!
wow Billy. I like that kit. nice setup. I have to look that up. I'm trying to get setup in the backyard for outdoor cooking. you got me cooking on a different level now. lol
Grandadz Forge Rob we are going to Christmas in the state park in the morning. If it doesn’t become a complete wash out I will be filming a lot of videos.
Glad it was helpful! Sorry it took me so long to respond. I don't think these will fail. We are going to have a future video with some of the pictures of some of our subscribers that have built the set up with the mortification's that they have made to what I have done. Hope to see yours one day. Thank you so much ...... Billy from Strong's Adventures
Thank you so much. I am really proud of this setup. It really works great for me . Hope you and that family have a great Christmas. I really hope the Real Billy can come up and see ya.
Thanks so much. Yep the ones from scratch are so much better but hey these work good in a pinch. No that reminds me I need to do a from scratch video making them LOL . Thanks and hope you have a Happy New year
I like that hook storage bag. Maybe paint a bright color on handle end of the poker sound you don't loose this one. Buc-ees! Is that a cobbler cooing in the dutch! Awesome set up for sure. Good job Billy and Rhonda! Darn, it was just chicken in the dutch.
+PAPA Texas lol nope no cobbler! No cake this time either. Yeah I’m going to make a new poker and good idea on painting the handle end a bright color 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow I’d love the idea of that out door setup and have a picnic with the family soo cool I love it bright idea my friend keep it up anyway thanks a lot for dropping by see you around
Very cool! Jim can you leave a link I looked at your channel and didn't. Love looking at the way other people make grills and fire pits. Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you so much. I really am proud of this set up. We did have a great Christmas, Hope y'all did too. Wishing you all the blessing for the new year to come.
OK, Billy. I'm in love. I've been eyeing up those cook stations for over a year. I'll get there eventually. I have really been enjoying dutch oven cooking and especially with wood. Welding gloves are too bulky for me, so I got the kevlar LaTazas Extreme Heat Resistant Grill Oven Mitts. Love them and they work great in high temps. Nice vid of the setup and cook!
I bought the hooks and uprights for 99 dollars from somewhere out of Colorado. But I built everything else. The set up I have came be about 1700 or more. I have seen the uprights and hooks on Amazon for $65 but they are not constructed anywhere near as good
Captain Hook! Nice set up. Jalapenos looked good. I was going to ask what was in the dutch, but it is chicken! Thank you for showing us your rig, Billy and Rhonda
Love it...Totally inspired. I think one minor modification would be to make a small wall of thermal bricks at the back to reflect a bit more heat maybe just a reflective board. But otherwise, its really great.
Oh trust me this one reflects plenty of heat especially in the summer. I have thought of making a smaller more portable fire pit and that would work really good for that. Thank you so much for that tip. Hope you are having a great weekend my friend.
+David Bierley hey if you do will you please email us some pictures? We have had a few other people that have built them and we would like to make a video showing all the different ways and materials that people used. We love seeing that this video has been helpful to folks. Our email is in the description.
Wonderful setup you have there Billy! I think I could smell those bacon wrapped peppers; } Oh, and I have not ever seen or been to a Buc-ees… must not be in the west Texas area. Awesome upload 👍
C Dub's Journey we only hung out for a little while but you seem like genuinely sincere person. That’s what I look for in a true friend. Hopefully we can hang out again soon.
I feel the exact same way about you guys! You and Rhonda are awesome! So much was going on while we were at Lollapalooza... But I feel so blessed that we met and got to spend a little while together and share some great laughs! @@strongsadventures Looking forward to another meet up :)
@@CDubsJourney pretty sure your closest one would be in Fort Worth. Would definitely be worth the trip! Or past Waco depending on what of TX you are in.
@@littleartsbbqoutdoorcookin8426 I am sure it will buddy. Can't wait to see what you come up with.I think that I will be back to shooting some stuff here in the next few days. Hope you gain a few new friends from Ivey's Forge and Homesteads shout out.
@@littleartsbbqoutdoorcookin8426 Hey we all do what we can to help out my friend. Anson is a really great guy too. A bunch of us all started our channels at the same time.
Now that's a nice set up sweet. I love to cook outdoors well liked more when I wasn't so sick all the time but I love fishing overnight cause I build a fire and try to cook. Thanks for sharing. God bless
@@strongsadventures cool I'll need watching or trying this weather keeps me sick lupas and cold and hot well it hates weather and I guess fat people. Lol. Have a good night.

But ide love to no more to maybe fill better tired of being so tired and sick all the time
@@strongsadventures I made a fire rotisserie out of snow mobile parts and an industrial BBQ motor with a 3/8" spit that we roast meat over an open fire. I found your channel as inspiration for another project I want to do just like yours.
Thanks so much! You are so correct. I actually use one of the up-rights and one of the grills over my Dutch oven tables on occasion and it works great.
I bought the uprights, crossbar and hooks. After I learned how to cook using the hooks I built the firebox and swing grills myself. That way they were the size I wanted plus the shipping on the fire box was going to be $150 dollars. Thanks for watching and if you have any questions please ask.
Thank you so much. I am really proud of it. We have another video that gives the exact dimensions for anyone that wants to build one or have one built. Thank you for watching.
I love this, I would love to build one myself.. I'd also have one of the swing grills as a solid grill plate for different frying options, or maybe just have three swing grills/swing out tables. Great set up though man!
Thank you so much. I really am proud of this set up. I like the idea of a solid grill/griddle. If you would like to make a set up like this one I have a video that gives the exact detentions of mine. The link should be at the end of this video. Thanks again for watching and the nice words.
I was thinking the same to have a flat plate for frying but then when you think about it why not just use a fry pan on the grill the grill is a support for anything. A nice cast iron skillet comes to mind.😉
