This is a truly honest review. I purchased the DJI 4D and had to return it due to the terrible rolling shutter and focus issues. Eye focus would be a great improvement. Once they fix these problems, I intend to buy it again. The screen, 4D stabilization and menus are great.
great review! I’m a fan of companies making professional cinema gear more accessible and this one was revolutionary. I’m a Blackmagic/Panasonic guy but I would seriously start considering this or a new version if my freelance video business starts picking up 😅.
Thanks a lot for this review. Just a few years ago, DJI was a complete unknown in the world of cinema. When we wanted to buy a camera, we went to Canon or Sony. I stayed with Canon until last year, but the XF-605 cured me of Canon for good. No effective stabilization and, above all, totally random autofocus. So, after seeing your video, I think my next camera will come from DJI and never again from Canon. We have DJI drones and their quality is beyond reproach. What's more, DJI offers a service.
Great video. I have a question I hope you can answer. Can the dji ronin 4d can be handled as a movie camera? Also does it have a plug to plug in a microphone? Hope to hear from you soon.
@@TomWadeCine thanks for the reply, I just have one more question. Can you mount a canon lens to the ronin 4d, I’m aware that there are mounts that you can put on the gimbal, I’m just curious to know if you can put a canon lens on. Hope to hear from you soon.
Man I’ve really been in a dilemma of selling my fx6 for this. I like the fx6 but I also love gimbals, the fx6 and gimbals dont really go together perfectly so i guess this would be perfect for me
I can honestly tell you I love mine. It’s just such a great story telling camera. That being said, I use my A7S3 far more often only because I keep it bare now and its convenient to grab it and go. Serious work that requires planning and a team, the 4D every time
thanks for the info, would you say this is a good cam for a solo operator? The fx6 works great but i think this camera would work way better in my workflow. I do mostly weddings and commercial work. Im planning on buying the remote monitor too if i ever want a second crew member@@TomWadeCine
Yes, it shines as a one man band but for weddings, I would personally go with a Sony a7s3. Story telling, hands down this is my main camera. I’m actually shooting 2 stories currently and we do about 1 client shoot with the dji a week. It’s a beast.
I currently have the S1H but I'm seriously considering upgrading to the Ronin 4D, what would be your take on this. I want to invest in narrative and commercial film making for my company so for me, the appeal is in the innovative shots and the ease of use, no matter the crew size
You hit the nail on the head. The ronin 4D is the perfect “one man band” cinema camera that excels at versatility and can go toe to toe with the big hitters.
I think you should try to test out the L Mount with the LUMIX and Sigma lenses. It’s a night and day difference between the E mount both in Noise and Autofocus.
Just posted a video yesterday lol. I’m using the Smallrig ad-100 currently. SmallRig Fluid Head Tripods AD-01 vs AD-80 vs AD-100 | Which One Should You Buy? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HUah6K0m-Jo.html
Whoops, I just posted this...3 months late! LOL! But that's not the only channel saying it's better. The "Erwin Marionneaux" channel does a nice comparison of it against the Sony A7IV
