I remember seeing very few of these Lancias here in Finland. I think we only got the Y 10 LX model. Happen to have a brochure of Y 10 LX as well, printed in 1988, and Lancia lineup brochure, printed in 1987 (Thema, Prisma and Y 10 LX). Additionally I have Lancia Dedra brochure as well.
I’ve had two, a 1.0 FIRE and an LX model. Brilliant little cars, the LX had central locking, sunroof, tinted glass, electric windows and alcantara trim. Compared to the Metro City X I had of the same era it felt light years ahead. My friend had a GTie model he painted bright yellow. That was an absolute flying machine. I’d love another (in mainland Europe they even did a Martini version).
@@quarterlight my father took a test drive in the Turbo version when they were new cars. He said it was the most terrifying car he’s ever been in and he was delighted when the thing ran out of fuel. The sales man offered to go get some fuel and let him have a turn. He told him he’d rather just walk back and get some fresh air. I think the term he used was “rocket powered biscuit tin”. Fabulous drivers car, awful for a poor passenger. By the way, my ‘86 FIRE didn’t have a passenger door mirror but my ‘88 LX did.
It looks as though it was pitched as an upmarket supermini looking at the interior and all its features. It looks incredibly striking for a small car first introduced in 1985. It's interesting how the Turbo's alloys look like the trims on the base LX, but there you go. I would've liked to see the fuel consumption figures for the Turbo. An Auto Catologue search shows the highest figure to be 48.7mpg. I think I may have only seen one example, in about 1992. It was red with a matt black tailgate (may have been the Turbo?).
I had lancia y10 fila it was a great small car that was so economic to run insure and service i done almost 190,000 miles in that car then moved on to the lancia HF delta turbo then on to delta intergral
Remember my Dad having a Y10 Turbo come in in part exchange at his dealership, it was silver/grey and I'm sure it had green seats and stitching on the leather steering wheel as far as I remember (it was 1988!). It was unusual even then, never saw another.
My sister got a white fila , and i picked up a 1987 y10 fire lx. I picked up a black fila too, then a nero metallic turbo and then a rosso metallic which i ran till 2001. I did pick up a gtie in 2007? Which ended up in kent iirc . I saw 50 mpg out of the fire, and less on the turbo . .. Was lovely to drive though i went through rear suspension bushes quite regularly
@@quarterlight My sister ended up trading in the Y10 fila in black for a cinqucento sporting. that was terrible , custom pirelli low profile tyres ( so more expensive) no cabin space, fine if the passenger likes getting punched in the leg every gear change and very little in the way of frills that the y10 had.
I have been hoping you would do this Lancia. My Uncle had a Delta and my Aunt had a Y10 in a silver/grey and I loved it. Such a comfortable and roomy little car. Their son ended up buying a Y10 turbo and his friend had a Filla edition. Needless to say by the time I passed my test most I saw had fallen into poor repair...
After watching the review again I keep thinking that the badge on some of the cars looks like the Autobianchi badge, as the car was known in Italy as the Autobianchi Y10.... Great review again of a favourite car of mine ..
A typically Italian design, I'm sure even a child wouldn't get such a side profile so wrong, what a ill-proportioned and awkward looking car in my opinion...
