Oh Mary! Coming on one year. I’ve just enjoyed your channel so very much! Your voice is comforting and you choose music that goes with the book viewing so lovely. I’ve purchased a couple of the books you’ve reviewed and have several you’ve featured that I cherish looking through and revisiting like an old friend. Keep up the wonderful job you are doing so well. God bless you, and Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸 to you and yours!
Happy Fourth of July, Mary, and a happy birthday to your lovely RU-vid channel. I so look forward to your videos. I will try the fruit cobbler…it looks so delicious. And the book is such a homage to Catherine’s home. I so love my home too and I am excited to receive new ideas. 💕💕💕
For good or bad, I've become a RU-vid junkie, and by far I enjoy your channel the most!!! You have perfected the art of presenting your topic, and I'm really loving your personal shares after discussing the book. Happy Anniversary and sleep well -- you've nailed it!!
🌿~OMG! So much beauty I can barely speak! ~Just every single thing that I love! ~ I will be hunting for this book! Kathryns got "it" for sure... and...what an adorable puppy doodle!! ~Loved this Mary👍☕
Fantastic book. The recipe looks simple enough that I will try making it, plus it looks delicious! Congratulations on your one year anniversary! I am so thankful that you are sharing your collection of design books and for taking the time to create the videos. They are so inspiring, educational, and so calming. I do look forward to getting a notification of a newly uploaded video! Thank you, Mary! 💝 Happy 4th of July weekend 🎉
I'm sorry- I often think about Thomas Jefferson. He really hated debt, whether it was his own or the governments. He struggled with personal debt and when he sold almost the entirety of his library to The Library of Congress; with the proceeds he received from this sale (instead of paying debts) he bought more books.
Mary, I really enjoyed that you made a recipe from the book. I am definitely going to make it. Wow, has it been a year already! Your channel resonates with everyone looking to make their homes beautiful. It's also the small things we do in our everyday lives that we can make special. I look foward to you next video.
I so love your channel! I love decorating books and sharing your garden ventures. There's something I feel I must hare with you about a company you featured/recommended recently. It was when you showed your daughter's birthday gift's. I saw a post today warning people about the many dangers of having/using the app for this company. It sounded pretty serious, and I thought you might want to double check on the background of TEMU. Not trying to get in your business, but I like you and what you do, so thought I would follow my gut feeling about sharing this info. Looking forward to the next book.
Thank you- I have since taken that out of the video. I try my best to research the companies or websites that ask me to advertise. I have said no to so many and, in this case, I think I didn't listen to my instinct. I have refused any further sponsorships with them. The products were fine but other things that I will not get into made me second guess this. I do appreciate the way you brought this to my attention and the ad is no longer in the video. Thanks for being kind about it.
This book features timeless decorating that I really enjoyed viewing. Mary, thank you for the baking lesson. I have been wanting to make a cobbler for quite some time, now I know how to do it correctly! Blessings.
I’m so glad, just a note- if you make the cobbler use self rising flour. I accidentally said “all purpose” in the video. Blessings to you as well, and happy 4th of July!
It was so lovely being able to go through the book with you. I must be so relaxing having all those beautiful books to page through on lonely winter days.
YES- it is on such days that I feel especially comforted! Oddly enough, it's the periodicals that I love in the summer (they travel better) and the books that sustain me in the winter.
Thank you! I so much enjoy your videos! Question: do you think I could bake your recipe with a lattice pie top? If it doesn’t hail or rain here in Colorado I thought I would serve it after our fourth BBQ.
Yes - the lattice pie top would be a great idea. I've corrected this, but in the video I said "all purpose" flour and I meant "self rising flour''. The recipe in the description of the video is correct. I hope your weather holds out and you have a lovely Independence Day! Thanks for watching.
I didn't realize this was your first year!Congratulations🎉 I love your channel, I could watch you all day! The cobbler looks delish and I will try it on the 4th! I love how you make it personal at the end of the book review! I haven't seen a book i haven't loved❤
Thank you so very much. I really do appreciate the kind comment. Also- use self rising flour when you make the cobbler. I said "all purpose" in the video. 😮
Mary, love this book. Please let us know where you purchased your runner on you kitchen island. Love the pink in it. Also. where did you purchase your kitchen tablecloth? Love the green! Thanks for being so inspiring.
Happy one year anniversary! Your videos are on my favorite list and I am always looking forward to your next one. And I agree that your voice and the music are so comforting. Thank you so much,
Haha! Dump-It-In Cobbler, is my kinda cooking! On the different subject, I keep meaning to ask if you know of Julie Vos jewelry. Your bangle, etc remind me of her designs and she'd be a perfect sponsor for your channel. Happy 4th!
Hello Mary, Always a pleasure to visit with you! I have never heard of Kathryn Greeley however I enjoyed this review! Watching you bake the cobbler made me chuckle....I do not look like you when I bake! My kitchen and I are probably wearing more of the recipe than what is in the mixing bowl! LOL! However, I am going to try this recipe. Have a wonderful day and I look forward to the next review! Hugs! :)
You're funny- that's what my husband looks like after he makes pancakes...flour and butter everywhere! This cobbler was delicious, but use self rising flour. I said all purpose in the video! (never trust an overly neat chef) 😁
I always look forward to your book reviews and your personal walking tours ... your style and home are a real inspiration along with the books. Congratulations on one year ...,🌼
I saw the recipe for the cobler and it looked like the recipe called for self-rising flour. I wonder why you used all-purpose? No salt or baking powder? this is a very old southern recipe, my mother used to make an almost identical recipe.
Yes, you are right- I added a caption to the video with the correction. I inadvertently said all purpose. My recipe in the video description is correct. Thanks for catching this.
Dearest Mary, I appreciate your videos, sharing the wonders of gracious living via the many books that you have shared. Because of this, I am making quite a collection of favorite books. The passion that is shared in these, as well as yourself, have aided in opening up a world that I had only dreamed of, but never allowed my time to be invested in it, as I shared my time with my family and students. Now that I am finally retiring from 41 years of teaching, I am embarking on learning as much as I can about decor and gardening. Thank you so very much for your site! Warmly, Karen
Forty one years! WOW! I was a teacher for 25 years. I received a degree in Interior Design, but chose to teach so I could have the same schedule as my children. I hope you enjoy this new chapter in your life. It's exciting!
I just want you to know that your show is lovely but the real reason I like it is because I like YOU! Your voice and calm mannerism just relaxes me soo! Blessed are we to have you to watch and learn from! xxoo Ava
Hi Miss Mary! Fantastic book - full of beautiful, colorful, and traditional ideas - love it! I could almost smell the cobbler - you inspired us to try it and you were right, super fantastic! Thank you and wishing you and yours a Happy Independence Day! Looking forward to the next one and celebrating you!
Thank you Mary for another beautiful book review. This one is a must buy. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think I will also have to make a cobbler this weekend. Happy 4th of July!
Congratulations Mary on your one year anniversary 🎉 ❤ the cottage book. And like always the back ground music 🎶 A friend many years ago, taught me how to make a recipe, it’s very delicious! Happy Independence Day!!!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Freedom is awesome 🤩
She is a FAVORITE of mine ,I have that book ,and James Farmer is too .I know she works a lot with Replacements. I would love to meet her, she was in Asheville earlier this year for a book signing but wasn’t able to drive over that day .I have been making that recipe for over 50 years ,we called it A cup of cup cake ……any fruit works ,it can be made bigger or smaller,if you have 2 cups of fruit just increase the other ingredients according, but I really prefer a pie dough lattice for cobbler and South Carolina peaches 🍑 are ripe Now Enjoy the holiday.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Our peaches (NC) are not quite ready, so I used frozen. This recipe was so easy and I look forward to making it using various seasonal fruits! I also like the idea of adding a dough lattice on top. Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comment.
The Collected Cottage caught my eye as I purchased it several months ago and have read it twice.♥ Loved your review, soothing voice and the recipe demonstration was perfect. You won me over and I’m now a new subscriber to your channel. I look forward to viewing all your past and future videos!🌟 Oh! and Happy 1 Year Anniversary!🎉
Thank you for this lovely review! I've had my eye on this book for a while and will be purchasing it this weekend. 🙂 Congratulations on your one year anniversary! I've enjoyed your book reviews and appreciated the personal touches you've added to the end of your videos. I look forward to more in the future.
We love your Tartan Topiary book reviews and welcoming home visits! Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! I share your interest and joy in interior design and gardening and look forward to each uploaded episode! Thank you!
What a lovely book today. You always seem to find such inspirational books and doing the recipie is a real treat. Always enjoy your videos, have a wonderful 4th july.
Amazon has a good price for this amazing book. Great opportunity to get this book. I like how Ms Greeley displays her collections especially her white and blue porcelain. Mary what an easy cobbler and great to serve next Tuesday on the porch. Happy 4th to you and your family !!
This is nonsense, no cottage has such a fancy (and cluttered) obsession with expensive bibelots and tkotckes! I grew up in an English manor house that dated back to the 14th century, and this sort of display is nouveau riche silliness.
Thank you, I am doing well. YES- we adopted a 2 year old sweet girl that had been taken to our local shelter. She is a gentle soul that loves sitting in a lap, chin rubs and nose taps. We were lucky to find her. I hope you are doing well.
@@thetartantopiary sounds lovely. I have an elderly (14 years) pug, who like your kitty is a gentle soul who rarely leaves my side. 💕 They are precious. Happy July 4th to you and yours, and thank you. 🙏
Another beautiful book! I just bought it. So much eye candy I didn't need the cobbler, but I love the baking too! This is a very old cobbler recipe. Very similar to the one my grandmother used and she died in 1975. We called it Grandma's One Cup recipe, since she taught it to us, but she got it from some other source. 1 cup sugar, 1 cup self-rising flour, 1 cup milk, 1 stick butter and 1-2 cups fruit of choice. Peaches or blackberries are my favorites but I've used other fruits and I've even used canned fruit cocktail for a last minute from the cupboard dessert. I like to take it out 10 minutes before time is up and sprinkle on some sugar (to make the top more crispy) and some cinnamon (in the fall) and then put it back in the oven to complete the baking time. So easy and always a favorite. Thank you again, Mary, for all you share with us!
My grandmother's recipe called for 1 cup also, but I wanted to bake the one in the book. It was just as delicious. Also, in the video I said "all purpose" flour and I meant to say "self rising"! I have the correct recipe in the description of the video. Thanks for sharing yours!
Hi Mary, I am so thankful to have come across your channel. I just spent a rainy Texas weekend devouring many of your videos! 📚 🫖 ❤ I enjoy the beautiful book reviews and look forward to your personal touches even more. Thank you so much, for sharing this cobbler recipe. I attempted it this afternoon- very easy and absolutely delicious!! Thank you again, so much for your channel. Your genuine spirit and eye for beauty and presentation make this my new happy place! 😊💐🌷
It has been raining here also. Sometimes I need those days, as they force me to stay inside and relax or complete various household necessities. Your comment was very thoughtful and I appreciate it. Welcome to the channel!
Hi Mary! This book is full of so many beautiful ideas and the table settings are gorgeous. Love your reviews as you highlight the contents and inspire us! I once made a blueberry cobbler from a phone conversation with a friend and made it with all purpose flour-ugh-she said flour and assumed I knew it should be self rising-LOL. When you said all purpose, I knew it couldn’t be correct. LOL! You provide calm and joy to my life along with learning and beauty….thank you!
I had a panic attack when I realized I had uploaded the video with me saying "all purpose" flour. As a younger cook, I loved Martha Stewart. When her recipes didn't turn out as good as I thought they should, I would tell my husband that Martha gave the wrong ingredients! This was just karma coming back to get me for saying that! 😁
Oh my goodness, I could totally live in the beautiful cottage, every room is a delight. I can almost smell the cobbler baking, I will have to make that! 😊
Happy Anniversary! I so enjoy each episode of the Tartan Topiary including this one. And I loved your homemade cobbler at the end; looked delicious! Thank you for sharing.
Congrats on a year of wonderful color and life through the pages of many books and more to come as we all go with you Mary. Needless to say, I got spoiled quickly with two book reviews a week and missed that, this week but I understand and life gets busy. Thank you once again for a lovely book tour ~ Your dessert looked so good and enjoyable. I always look forward to see what you have in store for all of us each week. Happy 4th !!! 🔴⚪🔵
Thank you- and yes, I often have a little more free time in the summer and I'll try to fit in an extra review when I can. I appreciate the kind comment and encouragement. I hope you have a happy and safe 4th of July also!
Wow! What a book and what a marvelously simple recipe! Another video beautifully presented and so enjoyable to watch. Like others, I didn’t know this was only your first year, what a pro you are. Keep up the terrific work. We love you Mary. 👏👏👏
Such a beautifully presented book 📚. The cobbler looked absolutely scrumptious ✨. Looking forward to celebrating The Tartan Topiary’s first year anniversary 🎉
It was great, but in the video I inadvertently said “all purpose flour” and I should have said “self rising”. The entire and correct recipe is in the video description. Thanks for watching and have a lovely 4th of July!
