I head high up into the Inyo Mountains to reach a mysterious and historic miners cabin! Patreon: / forestyforest Merchandise: foresty-forest... Summit Map: drive.google.c... / strava / forestyforest
Foresty, you pointed out in the logbook at the cabin that a lady named Kim Gardner had been to the cabin numerous times and that she is well known. I had never heard of her. I found an online article about her in Adventure Sports Journal. Her story of overcoming serious difficulties in her life by running up and down mountains was very inspirational. Thank you for noticing her log entries and mentioning her in the video. You and Kim have a lot in common because you both are people who serve as good role models and sources of inspiration to all of us. Thank you for that also!
When did Rocko get her license?!?!?! 2 summits in one vid, plus a hidden cabin make for a fantastic Foresty Friday! The scenery is gorgeous, thank you for sharing it with us.
7400 feet gained! You are an animal! With an animal. Congrats on bagging that summit. Not only boocoo elevation gain, but you also had to deal with the thin air at 10,000+. I have trouble going above 9000 unless I've spent a few days at 7 or 8 k to acclimatize. Totally cool you made it to the cabin as well, and an 11 thousander to boot! What a great area to spend a week or three in the middle of winter
Supreme effort to reach a heavenly rest. The dynamic duo cannot be stopped !!! Verticals of straight up ? No problem...knee deep wet snow,no problem Dad is carrying me...but the views...we are on top of the world ! Thank you for a hair rising epic adventure, done in the winter none the less.Eat well, stay warm,rest...you both did an amazing thing X2 both ways up and down to this remote cabin.Go easy on yourself young one,we need your inspiration...
Thanks for bringing us along on your adventures! Loved seeing the old cabin! Say Hello to Brent Underwood at Cerro Gordo given how close you are to his place! (Ghost Town Living on RU-vid)
Another great video foresty. Tbh i also enjoyed your creativity moments you put in a couple videos ago, especially when they failed haha it shows that we’re all human and can overcome our nerves with practice even if it fails. This is coming from a creative mind from Ontario who doesn’t have the balls/platform that you have. Keep making the videos silly with your ideas and I can guarantee at least one view and like from me!
What an incredible video Forestry! This one was worth the wait. Thanks to you and Louie, I've been watching a lot of rudimentary climbing videos on knot tying. Now you've sent me down a few more rabbit holes about Kim Gardner and mining and this cabin.
Loved seeing that old cabin! How can you ever think you’re wasting your energy- I’m seeing more of my USA than I have traveling through the years! How you navigate all this blows my mind. I hiked 5 miles and got myself disoriented in a loop on a simple nature preserve trail,ha! What you accomplish is amazing 👏⭐️👍🙏😊
I loved this video. So nice to see Rocko starting to pull her own weight and help with the driving. I think she also wants to help with the cooking/eating. You come up with excellent meals. The info about Kim is exciting. She's an inspiration. So are you, BTW. I look forward to your videos, no matter the length. And thanks for all the shots of Rocko. I 💗 her to bits.
Nice to see Rocko taking you along on some of his adventures! lol ;-) Loved this .. beautiful scenery and I love old stuff. A statement to the quality of build.
That cabin perched up there is so picturesque! Fantastic scenery! So beautiful. Thank you for sharing your adventures. You and Rocko get some rest and enjoy your family time! We will be waiting for your next adventure! ❤❤👍👍😊😊🐶🐶
Wonderful episode! It is always such a pleasure to watch your videos. I've been following you for years, and you never fail to capture the essence of your adventures.
Foresty, I know that you do not like to answer silly questions, so maybe you will not answer this... But I was wondering if you have ever had any strange experiences in the many remote historical cabins and fire lookouts that you have stayed in. Personally, if I stayed in a place like that overnight by myself, I do not think that I would get much sleep because I would be concerned about a possible encounter with some sort of spirit of a former old miner resident who used to live there. That cabin was incredibly cool and historical, and you are very brave to stay there alone like that! Glad you had Rocko there with you for protection!
Hey man I gave you a hard time last year when you hesitated on a little off roading, you've totally redeemed yourself bro I can see the confidence. Another awesome video👍
What a great adventure Simon. I love looking up places and mountains when you and Rocko climb them. This was truly an amazing place. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Only 9 hours to get to that Cabin---noooo sweat for our Foresty Forest and Roccooo Baby!!!! Beautiful shots as usual---In my opinion you are THE MAN OF THE YEAR!!!🎉🎉
Great effort. I love the old cabins too. Lots of respect for people who worked the land and survived in very harsh climates. That particular place is a desert during the summer and surviving the heat takes a special breed.
I just love EVERYTHING about your videos. Before you know it you'll have Rocko filming each episode! I appreciate all the trouble you go to to film your adventures. ❤
you know rocko is now going to ask for the van to go on her own hikes/trips. once she has been biten she'll want to drive all the time (but not when you try to get her to go to the store. like all kids if it a chore they don't want to drive. (if to a dog friend, yep off they go).
We always enjoy your adventures ,Foresty Forest and the amazing little jack Russell Rocko.Take care of yourself and Rocko you are both soooo fit,to do what you do is incredible but we all appreciate it otherwise you would not have as many followers.
Foresty, If you are planning to see DUNE, please try to go and see it in a movie theater. It is definitely a film that NEEDS to be seen on a big screen. Thanks.
I agree with notquiteultralight's comment below. There are lots of great peaks to climb and places to backpack in the greater Southern California area. I did a lot of backpacking when I was in high school with the Girl Scouts. Mt. Whitney and a week on the John Muir Trail, Mt. San Gorgonio, Mt. San Jacinto, Taquitz Peak, plus many overnighters on various weekends in the Los Padres National Forest. These areas are not as scenic as the Purcells or the Canadian Rockies, but they are still a lot of fun. Those backpacking trips were the high point of my youth, and I will always cherish those memories. I don't know if Foresty will ever venture into some of these areas or not. But it is amazing that a person can be fairly close to a major metropolitan area, and once you get a mile or two into the back country, there are very few or no other people around often times. It is possible to be totally alone out there in the mountains of the greater Southern California area.
Hey Foresty forest that was a fun video seeing that old cabin was amazing. Thanks for taking us to the mountain top and the most beautiful places you guys be safe out there and stay warm. I look forward to your next video.🇺🇸♥️🫶🙏👍🐾🏔️🚐🇨🇦
As always i so enjoyed your climb and the effort you put into the video. , I would never get to see any of the beauty of our country if it was not for you and others that do all the work and share it, thanks much and God Bless you always
ru-vid.com9fX0EZ-Buw4?si=OvsbbyQ6ZmzHW6Fk This short video is a blast from the past. (A man from a RU-vid channel called DadCam bought Foresty's minivan a few years ago, and DadCam just reposted this short today on his channel. He said that the minivan is still running really good and that he is using it as his daily drive lately!)
I was curious so I googled Kim Gardner and wow what an inspiring story a trail runner from Bishop who suffered several head injuries 2015 to 2018 resulting in brain trauma that is severely debilitating. She runs to escape the pain and noise. I imagine that FF and her would get along well 😊
Another great adventure - I was at Saline last May and wanted to try to get in there in about 11 days from now, of course I realize it'll likely be snowed in, wanted to do the North pass... Last year I took the south pass in and Steel Pass out (In my 4x4 Astro van) - We'll see how it goes. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you, it would be fun to see you out there
