Important for Indians who r listening why MSP is a bad idea,and v should actually get rid of it, specifically for those who opposed farm reforms in India,they r responsible for farmers being poor
@blockchainman861
@blockchainman861 Год назад
MSP is not good or perfect. However, almost 50 percent of the population cannot make money by engaging in farming. Developed countries have 2 to 3 percent of population engaged in Agriculture. India needs to do more on moving people in other sectors like manufacturing industries, services industry, construction industry etc. More nutrition for poor, more skilling and education in line with the market requirements. Agriculture will have more robotics and machines to increase production. India needs to be better at engaging majority of citizens on more productive sectors and not Agriculture. Farmers want MSP because they want economic security which with MSP will not work as technology is taking over farms in more productive developed countries

Exactly those so called farm protestors are biggest enemies of farmers.

@@Trials_By_Errors Maybe uninformed and not enemies. However, we have to bring more farmers in India out of farming and giving existing farmers technology

Lol.. Annadatas would come on roads demanding free electricity and free water along with increased MSP, and if govt of the day refuses the demand then useful idiots will cry fascism garnering suppprt grom Western anglo idiots. And there is always a political party ready to submit to these demands. Who will feed us if not crooked rich farmers afterall. A very erudite economist once said that we have to thanos the agriculture sector in order to save farmers from it. There is no salvation for india, we would continue to grow at avg rate, there would be no Pakistan like crisis but don't expect China/korea style miracle too.

@@blockchainman861 no,recently surveys hav shown from nsso etc that,38% ppl r in agri,but i knw that's too high,for it to reduce,v need more PLI schemes which will increase manufacturing thus,move ppl from agri to factories

At 21:35 this is the flip side of Minimum Support Price Vs Open Market prices that in India - was behind the Farmer's Protest. Sadly some people who say they represent a section, usually land up doing disservice. There were certain issues in Farmer's bill which weren't ideal but completely quashing it is typically Throwing the Baby out along with the Bath water

I am from India so obviously I am bound to like your channel....but what I really like is your point of view on the economy of a country. As an Indian I still agree with your advice, the way you create your bird's eye view of an economy is something which should be considered and studied by policy makers. Hostile behavior between our countries would continue as a default, you might be a reason for reset. Congrats

One way to develop economy is to close thousands of madrasah and open thousands of liquor stores Madrasah education is more dangerous

I think the food example is probably one sided, as food security is also an issue. If any country doesn't subsidise food and needs it from abroad then that's a risk, especially for core food.

Hi uzair, i have no formal training in economics, my limited knowledge and understanding comes from TPE podcast and the occasional online research so bear with me. As someone in the manufacturing business i feel that it is important to highlight the issues businesses face at microeconomics level. Scaling up requires capital, even if that capital is self generated scaling up can prove difficult because larger firms are harassed more by government employees looking to make money and with the volatility to shocks in the economy most small scale enterprises opt to divert their investment towards the safe haven that is the real estate sector and now with the current interest rates more and more of that revenue is being diverted towards the banks (it's strange to personally witness how higher interest rates and recession play out at the microlevel.) I just thought i would share what i have witnessed being at the ground level, how investments in businesses are hijacked by either the real estate sector or the banking sector.

Mr Uzair Younus, your vLogs are very informative and much interesting but i may suggest, do programs in short versions too. May be around 20-30 mints max, so one can see n listen in one go and comfortably in a single sitting. Hope you would like to think about it.

Thank you so much for this conversation. Some important takeaways for people genuinely looking to learn. Uzair, I did a report in the early noughts on women's economic empowerment in the transport sector of Pakistan with a case study of stewardesses in the Daewoo buses. It's old, but remains one of its kind, as far as I know, and shed an important light on aspirations of lower middle class women here. Let me know if interested in a copy.

I think the biggest problem is the rate of reinvestment or saving ..Pakistan is appx 13 percent while India ia appx 30 percent . I cannot understand why it is so different . Think what would happen if government had 17 percent of GDP more to invest into industry. In India too the savings rate is 34/35 when the growth is high and inflation is low ...while appx 30 percent when the inflation is high and growth is low . Multiply it by 5 and that is what Pakistan is today.very low savings rate .

Punjabi cultural issue of show off, competing with India, high fertility rate are main reasons for low saving rate in Pakistan and in general among subcontinent Muslims. Mullahs are also responsible. In pre partition Subcontinent Sindh, Sindhi Muslims used to make fun of Sindhi Hindus of saving money, saying that they will loot one day everything from Hindus. Problem is now in Pakistan everyone is almost a Muslim.

@@vinsin328 The rich always save most of their income and the poor always consume most of their income. thus any rise or fall in savings rate has direct correlation with income distribution.l the more the income is taken by the rich/corporate sector/ gov . the more the savings rate. Behavioral analysis as to why people are saving more or less is not a significant factor. Chinese savings rate is high not because Chinese people have some cultural norms of saving more, its just that the policies of Chinese gov are such that the corporates & local gov keep most of the income.

Why doesn't Pakistan increasing fuel prices to Rs 600/Litre by charging Rs300 extra tax. It will be a good way to tax the rich and the middle class will need to car pool, or reduce their luxuries. Lower Middle class and Poor people anyway don't use personal vehicles that much. Yes it could raise inflation on goods too, but then you can manage that in several ways

Educate your male peers to respect women instead of preventing women's access to public spaces to "protect" them. Aurat insaan hai, aur kamana har insaan ka haq hona chahiye.

What is your problem with one-day aurat march ?? Everyone knows about south east asia women rights issues. If you want to test you can see so many places where ladies cannot work and go to places safely or just hangout with friends without restrictions in public places or go in public without cheap looks from men and there are so less women working in shopping bazar areas and ofcourse all industries are male dominated..... Or you dont want women to have freedom because 50% are women and if no women in working places then 50% competition is less for men ??

@@sak1086 I think you haven't visited big cities of Pakistan where all this crap is going on.. Otherwise you would've known the big cities don't face such issues like staring or women can't hangout with their friends publicly.. Marches in these cities have more to do with allowing women to do whatever they want and to be precise allowing them to wear short clothes have premarital sex etc So before lecturing here visit the ground realities

Ground reality tum women ke point view se dekho tab pata chalega.
