SOME individual players were punished during the steroid scandal, but owners, managers, and MLB officials were not. While owners made proposals to deal with the problem through drug testing, the Player's Association DID NOT AGREE. Therefore, owners did not press hard on the issue because they had other economic concerns ($$$) and advantages to gain. The problem was widely known across baseball and management, owners, club officials, MLB turned away from the problem. In this scandal, Luhnow and other managers were fired, the Astros' organization was fined, they were stripped of their first and second round picks in the 2020-2021 drafts. The players were not suspended because they were given immunity from MLB in exchange for their cooperation. The Astros organization was punished. Now, if they didn't get the punishment that you people want, that's a different story. But don't say nothing happened to the Astros.

@charleskroon171
@charleskroon171 4 года назад
If you think a-rod took his punishment like a man you are deluded. He was the only player from the Biogenesis case to appeal his suspension, he sued major league baseball, he sued his own players association, leaked names of other biogenesis clients to take all the heat off himself including throwing his own team mates under the bus and still denied he did anything wrong until he had no other choice. Also the astros didn't defraud MLB, it wasn't money driven it was championship driven, if a-rod had participated in such a scheme he wouldn't have done it to win he would've done it for his own statistics and I'm a yankees fan but a-rod is the last person who should be commenting on anyones character given how he lied over and over again about his PED use
@RootzRockBand
@RootzRockBand 4 года назад
Charles Kroon A rod is the same dude who intentionally hit the putchers glove to knock the ball out and he got busted and called out for it. Although A Rod was guilty of his PED and foul play, his statement about the Astros is true. Wonder if he was on the Astros team if he would have come clean or participated like the other Astros. Something tells me, he would have gone along with the cheating if given the choice. Some people will do anything to win.
@charleskroon171

@@RootzRockBand The difference is the Astros wanted to win a world series, a-rod just wanted to break bond's already fraudulent home run record, he never cared about winning only about himself. In Pro Baseball, its hard to call someone a "cheater" just because they took steroids. At the end of the day, no matter how many roid's they shot up, they still had to put the bat on the ball (which requires a lot of SKILL to do, when you take roids in a sport like wrestling, UFC, anything where strength is "required" then yes, you can be labeled a cheater. Baseball, America's past time, doesn't require you to be a strength champ. A ROD still, needed skill to put the bat on the ball and to field 90 mph+ ground ball's efficiently. Astro's knowing what pitch is coming= Absolute cheater's and should be apologizing not only to us adult's that pay big money to watch the game, but to the millions of little kids that watch and love the game!

Yes; I’m an Astro fan. And yes, I am ashamed of 2017 season with the banging. Hence, I think it is remarkable what Cole said that “He didn’t see anything illegal” in 2018 and 2019. My thesis is, that y’all’s focus is to attack the team when y’all don’t have the true facts only speculations. Now, if you could be a bit professional, by sticking to the question, answer this. Cole recently said: "But I'm telling you, we played fair and square that year 2018. I didn't see anything last year either. But no one wants to hear it now." Those were Cole's words as he stated VERBATIMLY. Imagine all of the talking his new teammates are doing against the organization that Cole came from. I just recently saw a video of CC Sabathia trash talking against the Astros with Trevor Bauer and other players. Trevor Bauer ABSOLUTELY HATES Cole. He's talked very bad about him in the past. And supposedly, CC Sabathia helped recruit Cole to the Yankees. Imagine the hypocrisy. The person that helped recruit Cole is contradicting Cole's statement with a pitcher that hates him. And fans will still cheer for him, even after accusing him of being a cheater too. This has to be causing a certain level of friction between Cole and his team. BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES!!!

But the fact nowadays he owns up to his mistakes, has learned from them and became a better person, alright i can respect that. Arod has the highest baseball IQ of any player in the past 20 years, he picked himself out of a very deep hole and turned himself around, plus he tried to take on the hypocracy of MLB with his own bankroll instead of folding to Seilig. THANK YOU AROD!
@yeeerrrrrrr
@yeeerrrrrrr 4 года назад
@Craig O Getting caught using performance enhancing drugs, has nothing to do with talent nor baseball IQ, its something that cant be taught or bought. Look at ARODS numbers rookie year, thin as a twig, he was the natural, so dont confuse talent and baseball IQ, with being greedy and following the crowd. He played short stop, the hardest infield position, mentally and physically, then switched to the hot corner like it was nothing and won gold gloves. You think someone without a high baseball IQ could do that? Astros cheating is another level, they introduced a non human element to cheating, AROD was still using his body and mind, and to be honest you try playing nearly 200 games a year without a little pick me up along with travel and handling business. Sign stealing from center field or other parts of the ballpark has been around since the Brooklyn Giants played at the polo grounds, but they were using humans, not tech strapped to their jerseys or watching video.

I have a lot of respect for ARod.. At least he admitted he did steroids (unlike so many players) Plus he never tested positive but yet was made the poster boy. Suspended, paid millions, got abuse from fans and non fans. I don’t think he deserved the harsh punishment that he received . But at least he apologized, paid his price and came back strong and was still was one of the best. FYI to the ones saying finally he’s manning up. He manned up years ago. He’s the one that admitted it in the beginning. When the whole steroids came out. Hmmmm unlike Barry Bonds and a few others🙄

Good job guys. A-rod nailed it. And you guys did a good job of pointing out the confused thinking of those who see that the Astros will somehow make up for something if they win this year. No one is saying that they didn't have a great team in 2017, so a win this year won't exonerate the 2017 team. *Be clear,* the conclusion is not that the 2017 Astros weren't any good - It is that they cheated to win the 2017 World Series. *That is a fact.*

A-Rod is one to talk about cheating. In 2003, he publicly stated that the use of steroids was in his past. Yet he was the central figure that was involved in the Biogenesis scandal that unraveled years later. I guess it is easier to judge the character of another person instead of your own character.

What Arod said now he seems more apologetic now then when he got suspended for that year. It would have helped his legacy more then. But hearing him say this now still helps and I feel a little more forgiving to him now. If those Astros players would actually come out and mean it then it might help but at this point their only way to show it is to give back their fake championship and say they didn’t earn it the right way. Even if it is just Crane that does it it would help. Astros do still have outs in this but they need to take it.

You're not a real Astros fan then. You and fans who say the same thing that you do, will be the FIRST ones cheering them on, especially if they end up reaching the postseason, which I'm sure they will. I don't deny that they cheated, but I know the FACTS. If you're a real fan, stick with your team through the good and the bad. Believe me, fans of other teams have. Fans still cheered for Arod when he hit .455 for the Yankees in the 2009 WS. He denied using PEDs in a 2007 interview with Katie Couric. Yankees fans will still cheer for Cole and call him a cheater at the same time. A few days ago, Cole said: "But I'm telling you, we played fair and square that year 2018. I didn't see anything last year either. But no one wants to hear it now." Those were Cole's words as he stated VERBATIMLY. Imagine all of the talking his new teammates are doing against the organization that Cole came from. That has to be causing a certain level of friction. Supposedly, CC Sabathia helped recruit Cole, but he's been trash talking the Astros along with Bauer, a pitcher who ABSOLUTELY HATES Cole. All the while, fans will still cheer for him. The hypocrisy is absolutely ridiculous.
