I kinda wish it was more on par with LM3 visuals, but it still looks great either way. Played this on a friend's 3DS years ago, and I'll be glad to play this game again. From what I played, it was great.

Now that I think about it, if this game is using a hybrid emulation approach that’s actually a feasible proposition. For example, hybrid emulation made Pikmin 1+2 (financially) feasible because instead of fully rebuilding both games from the ground up, they compiled the source code to work on the Switch’s CPU and used emulation for the GC/Wii graphics. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if LM2 HD is using a similar approach just with emulating the 3DS’s graphics, as there doesn’t seem to be any new visual effects outside of the higher resolution. Since Luigi’s Mansion 1 is both on GC and 3DS, Nintendo probably has the resources to do a cheap hybrid emulation port to Switch and could easily bundle it with this light remaster.

@@johnclark926 That's what Mario Galaxy in 3D All-Stars did as well, the game's source code was a native port to the Switch but the Wii graphics and sound were emulated, though for some reason they didn't do that with Sunshine despite that being a Gamecube/Wii game too (both 64 and Sunshine were fully emulated).

I entirely agree. If they are going to charge full price, then at least it should have included Luigi's Mansion 1 and Luigi's Mansion 2 Dark Moon remastered, charging full price over an extremely modest HD port from 11 years ago is a rip off.

Last I checked Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is $59.99.

Seeing trailers for this on the Nintendo Channel on my Wii was my childhood (never actually played the game myself, didn't have a 3DS until this past December). But this is Nintendo UK, where it is £50. If you don't want to pay $60, which is completely understandable (I wouldn't, either), maybe it would be good to wait for a sale? IDK if you can find it cheaper than $60 at launch, here in the UK we can easily find pre-orders for less than RRP (aka MSRP), but maybe it doesn't work like that in the States, I'm not sure.

@@MarshedWS I absolutely agree! I'm only paying £14.63 cash for it pre-ordered as I had an Amazon Gift Card from Christmas. There is absolutely no way I would pay £50 for it, even though it looks very good IMO. I personally think this game should be £40 RRP, but Nintendo will be Nintendo. Instead I recommend people either find a cheap pre-order (often, physicals not directly from Nintendo are under £50 RRP), or getting it later on sale. Or not getting it at all, if one is happy with the 3DS version/doesn't want the game anyway. I reckon there will be some new content they may share closer to launch, or it may just be QOL improvements. We'll see, I guess. TL;DR I agree, no need to pay full price at all. You can easily find it cheaper pre or post-launch, at least in the UK.

Buying it physically from a non-Nintendo outlet is surprisingly a lot cheaper.

Honestly I kinda prefer their pupilless look, it makes them fit in better with Boos since those guys also don't have pupils the "good" look creeps me out more somehow 😭

I still find it strange how the ghosts in Luigi's Mansion 3 never even had pupils and were still good. One of the reasons I still prefer the ghosts in 2 rather than 3.

@@trunguss I guess that's one way to look at it. At least with pupils you can tell if the ghosts are good or not, whereas in 3 there's almost no way of telling if they're good without them attacking you.

The Switch’s manpower is different from the 3Ds’s manpower, meaning its not gonna look like LM3’s graphics

Man LM4 is going to look amazing seeing as what LM3 looks like on Switch. I look forward to that very much indeed.

How is this a de-make? Lmao the resolution is MUUCH better than what it was on the 3DS and most of the models and textures were given higher quality improvements.

I remember that. Another framerate problem was when you are catching a multitude of ghosts at the same time while other stuff was happening at the same time.

@@noodleman4555 two if you count the final battle when he first appears. And yes, I'm aware. I'm just bad at humor. I just think out of all the king boo designs that this one is the most uncanny and disturbing because of the clean texture....3 was bigger and had more expression so that is probably the one that is right now. Just from the footage though, it caught me off guard to see king boo looking like that.
