This mouse has so much potential :( but we always have to remember it’s steel series first lightweight gaming mouse. Hey maybe steel series sees this video and improves the build.
I got one yesterday, seems they’ve updated the mouse as all of the issues with the clicks and build quality are gone! Skates still trash but this mouse is great now they’ve improved it
I'm glad that now we have an honest review for this. It is a bummer because I was rooting for steelseries. At least it was the first lightweight mouse from them.
I disagree. I modded my 100g g305 to be 69G. A world of difference. And if you would go even lower in weight, you would also see a big jump. I can now do shots that I couldn't do before
I changed from an 85g Zowie to a Rival 3 Wireless 106g.. Honestly the difference in weight doesn't matter at all and hasn't impacted my gaming experience in any way
I've been using it for a week and haven't noticed any wobble or creaking. You should not base 50% of your opinion in that. You mentioned nobody pushes the mouse from the bottom and that's true hence focus MORE on other things. The cable is bad I agree and feet glide good but are too thin. In terms of shape and aim this is one of the best out there and weight is great and that matters the most. Clicks are great, snappy and responsive, side buttons bad. Coating is amazing and improved from rival 3. Weight balance is great.
I know this is review is like 7 months old but I just picked up the Aerox 3 on sale for a great price and while it's a bit creaky pressing it from underneath, I can't activate the side buttons via pressure on the frame. There's also barely any left and right click button movement. Using a mouse bungee also eliminates the stiff cord argument. I think you may have gotten an early production model as my unit has none of the faults you list and is actually very well put together considering the price and weight. Just food for thought for anyone watching this.
DO NOT TRUST ANY of steelseries's claims as to how waterproof this mouse is. I set down a glass of tonic water, a literally raindrop size bit of tonic water flew and went into the mesh at the top of the mouse, now DPI select RMB and LMB are permanently fused functions and its like unfixable and doing random inputs sometimes aswell, maybe i just got very unlucky.
Wahooo! I was the 1000th like! Love your videos Techne, your miles ahead of all other reviewer’s and where I come for all my review needs, you’ve helped me make quite a few purchase’s and for that I Thank you, keep up the great work man, I’m here for the long haul 😊👍
I have bought it and everything thing that you have pointed out for me nothing is wrong the leds do save and the mouse buttons dont wiggle at the top the quality is pretty good also
Hi bro I was thinking about buying this mouse the 2022 snow version Is it good or nah Build material/ comfort/ sensor I play mostly Rainbow six Do you recommend it?! Thanks in advance
I just bought this mouse today. I think they may have improved the overall quality since this video was uploaded. While my mouse does have wiggly LMB and RMB, they don't wiggle unless I'm actually trying to make them wiggle by using my fingernail on the side of them... But I can do that on every mouse on the market. Also, there is no creaking and the cord is very soft and flexible.
I gotta say The Techne... I have watched countless youtube videos on tech reviews and yours is always the cleanest, most detailed, and well rounded reviews I can find!!! Thank you for your hard work boss! 😊😊
It is Steelseries' first venture to the lightweight gaming mouse. Despite their reputation in gaming mouse before, this one seems like a miss (1 minute mark into the video). That bottom creak and flex is a red flag for me. Thanks for bringing this up. Hopefully, in their next lightweight gaming mice, they can fix the build quality (hoping it would be an upgrade just like MM710 to MM711).
weird... My Aerox 3 wireless is very solid and though i can activate the DPI button by ressing A LOT on the top and bottom, I never was able to activate the side buttons, ever. Same thing for the two primary triggers : My copy does have some wobble there, but not near what you have on your copy. The top of the button has straight NO WIGGLE what so ever Same thing with the cable I got with my wireless one. Miles better anything I had before on a wire mouse, not quite like a paracord, but not very far. Definetly on par with the cable on my Viper Mini Again, for the software on my wireless device, I close the software and nothing happens, everything RGB wise is stored on board Is the wired version with a cheaper build?? Also you are not one of them (and I'm not one of them too) but a lot of people on youtube have troubles with the mouse feet on this mouse scratching the mouspads. I guess the quality control department has fucked up somewhere with that one, maybe they rushed it I really don't understand it. My aerox 3 has solid build, solid feets, I've been very happy with it for the last few days, but some people get crappy copies and stuff that just very unfortunate
@@TheTechne Its still on its way but i think they purposely made the side buttons flushed to the body so that you dont get accidental presses from the other side when using it in a certain hand.
Im just using a cheap logitech wired mouse thats over a decade old, been in the family for a long time, used for school, work and now gaming. I have no problems using it but I do want to go wireless. But all this mouse stuff has been made over complicated, ill just stick to my old trustie, still getting top of the leaderboard baby! Mouse speed shouldn't matter when games these days are so glitchy and delayed, just take Battlefield 2042 for example.
I got my aerox 3 wireless in a couple of days ago and mine doesn't have the 1 and 2 wiggle maybe just your copy maybe the wired version. Can confirm the wireless has the same cable. My mouse does save the settings to the mouse tho. I absolutely love my aerox 3 wireless tho I do think the unboxing experience was a big downgrade from the rival 600 and arctis 5 2019 edition
I got this mouse today. I didn’t know why I didn’t like it, watched this review and you pointed out why. The sensor is at almost the back of the mouse. I’m coming from an Air 58 which is bigger and the sensor is higher up. Also the side buttons really do suck.
1st vid and subbed =] was going to buy this to have a light weight mouse as i only own all headset, keyboard and mouse from the same company saved me 60 quid ty
I bought this and returned it. The type C connection is a weak link. I would freeze mid game often. I got the wireless and it was much better. Seems steel series built a wireless mouse then said how do we add a wire and sell this for cheaper.
wow, I knew steelseries was going to make a lightweight mouse one day but can't believe the build would be that bad considering steelseries has always been good in terms of build quality but we have the pulsefire haste and roccat burst tho which is amazing.
Appreciate your thoughts on this SS mouse. I'm not sure if anyone will ever make a better mouse than the Razer Mamba Elite...comfortable for small hands, tilt scroll wheel, and epic RGB. I own three of them (keeping one as a spare, just in case). :)
I own an Aerox 3, and have to comment in defense of it. Sadly, I believe you got a very bad/faulty model. Your buttons have a lot of wiggle. The buttons on mine have zero movement and are very stiff. Your mouse also creeks when you apply pressure. Mine does not. Unless you apply so much you're about to crack the plastic. Also, my RGB settings stay where I set them after closing the software. Even after unplugging the mouse! Are you saving your settings? I dunno whats up with your model, but my Aerox is infinitely better built, and I believe 99% of them are. Please don't count this mouse out. I've owned it for a few weeks and love it!
Hi. I'm using rival 3 wired it is my main. Shape works great for me and i tried lots of mice like xm1,ul2, hati s etc. But i think this shape is golden spot for me. I thought purchaise aerox 2 for lightweight design and cable but it not looks solid as rival 3. Do you recommend me a same shape mouse if you know any exists? I thought roccat burst maybe similar?
I just got my aerox 3 wireless. The build quality on that thing is hella nice. Only stupid thing is that it won't connect to the dongle after the firmware update.
Hey, just found your channel. Good reviews and I appreciate your enthusiasm. One thing I would like to see, is if you can measure your hand size, which would help us with mouse comparisons. Rocket Jump Ninja has a method of measuring, and how it relates to grip styles. Judging by your grip style and the mice you choose, I bet it would be around 19.5-20cm by 10cm, which is my hand size, and I prefer palm. Also, considering I have Deathadder Chroma, and I would like it to be a bit bigger, or to have a hump more towards the back, what would you recommend: Mamba wireless or Rival 310 or ZA11? Thanks.
Under $40.- bucks You’re Killing this little guy ☠️ i have both Aerox 3 & Rival 3 🐭 for the Price there fine butt i do Prefer the Rival 3 over Aerox 3 🎬
Side Note : when building Computers i try to Stay with the Same Companies : Gpu’s + Mobo’s + Psu , etc …. Because of the Rgb and other features, Today everything is Lite up & they all Come with apps to install 😤 My Current build is Mostly Msi & Xpg & Steel Series 🖥
The build quality is ready unfortunate. Still gonna get a wireless because if there's any issues I'll just return it, but hopefully the qc is improved. I've seen a couple reviews with a solid copy but it's awful with most.
@thetechne Yea I too was real disappointed in the Aerox 3 wired version. Was a disappointment from the get go. Scratchy feet, heavy chord, and the fact that it was just the Rival 3 with holes and a detachable chord. Here is where I had the biggest issue with this mouse. Keep in mind I got the mouse on opening day... The mouse was randomly shutting down while I was using it. When I would unplug it and plug it back in it would go right back to working. Happed about 5 or 6 times from the time I started using it. Either way I sent it back for another copy. Being like you, a Steel Series fan, I am willing to give these guys a shot with the second copy just to see if I had a bad copy. It will be here Saturday. Either way even if it gets fixed it isn't worth 59 dollars. It's the Rival 3 for Christs sake. Come on Steel Series. You guys don't have any artists down there that can draw up a good mouse to make? I know you can do better than this. Your fans and customers deserve that. I would expect shouty craftsmanship like this from a low level mouse producer. Even the HK that hasn't been on the market long is better than this mess right now. Anyways Thanks Techne for being the first one to do the wired review and being totally honest with everyone for the review of the mouse and I agree with you 100%. Great video as usual man.
Hey I had the rival 3 and I switched the colors on the software, third time I tried to change it to rainbow but it was stuck on the one color I had chosen
Yes the Steelseries software is just kind of bugged in general. Settings don't apply properly, and sometimes it mixes two configs together into one, when switching from one to the other
@@entrpy978 No it's on the Rival 3 Wireless. When I change from one config to another it sometimes mixes the settings of the configs, and also with the Apex 7 it sometimes just stops actually changing when you switch between configs
I used it for about two months and then the connection of the usb port was a bit lost, but to get back to normal, I need to clean the mouse specially on the connector. i try to use a blower to get rid of the dirt inside :(
Yeah had this mouse for a decent bit however not sure what happened its died on me, cable is fine, it just doesn't move my mouse cursor at all. Really sucks since it worked fine on my end.
I have the aerox 3 wireless, the rgb settings wont save and it’s a bigger issue than wired bc it’s eat battery. I was surprised no other reviewer has mentioned anything about this issue.
i was confused when you stated razor products don't keep RGB settings without an app open and running at all times. are you referring to background processes? because i've never had issues with razor products losing my settings upon closing apps, etc.
I understand your sadness about the Aerox 3 ... I truly love Steelseries, but I still think the Aerox 3 series is a rip off ... For the wired, its basically a lighter Rival 3 with removable speedflex cable. As for the Aerox 3 wireless, its just the Rival 3 wireless but with a rechargeable battery included... It's a no go for me , unless they make a limited edition just like the Neon Rider they have done a few months ago for the Sensei Ten. Even better would be seeing them making a Cyberpunk limited edition version... Can't really count on it for now unfortunately :/
