We are a family of 5 living life in North Pole, Alaska! Where Santa Claus House is right down the street! We love spending time together as a family, having fun, learning through homeschooling, growing in our faith, and building our forever home! My parents 93 and 94 in senior living 2 miles from me. Haven’t seen since March. So sad and Moms bday today. Mom hospice now too which adds to all. Merry Christmas and don’t forget our elders in long term care 🙏🏻

Love this! Ever since I can remember, my mom would always have a little cake on Christmas morning and we’d sing happy birthday to Jesus. I’m 32 now and I still do this and plan to continue the tradition when I have a family of my own one day.

I’m very emotional right now. My Mom was in a nursing home for 2 years with dementia and I’m happy she’s in Heaven and not still there without her family being able to see her. That breaks my heart for all those that have to be alone. I just adore you guys and how you spread kindness and caring.

I'm really sorry to hear about your mom! My mom is in a nursing home with dementia and she just recovered from Covid and we won't be able to spend Christmas with her. It's going to be a really rough Christmas day for her and I and I wish it didn't have to be.

To not be with your Mom for Christmas is heartbreaking. Prayers for you both and thank you for your kind words. I miss my Mom so much but know I’ll see her again.

My 91 y/o Mom died November 11th. She lived in an independent senior community but had aides helping her the last 9 months. She fell and broke her hip in Sept. and it was downhill after that. I am sad but grateful we could finally spend time with her during her last 6 days at home with hospice. I am angry that we barely saw her this year because of the virus. This lockdown has had a HUGE mental health impact on our seniors. Frustrating because we can’t do much to change the situation.

I work at a Retirement community and Care Center (nursing home). And they love and appreciate the things people do. They will love it. And yes you do get attached. I've been at my job 20 years this coming March. So God Bless you greatly.

Thank you for doing that! My Aunt died Dec 13 of Covid in a nursing home and she was so alone and sad. It was heartbreaking to know that someone who always cared for and did for others ended up that way.

I have held it together purty darn good!! But hearing Old Lang Syne just made the tears flow, it always had. And I must say I love you guys and the love and kindness you show to others is what I so wish I had taught my child. I guess I just continued with what I never received. God love you all and have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, From Marilyn, Ayron and Symon ( the man puppy) from Tennessee!

I am a nurse at a long term facility, the residents do indeed become part of your family. Even without covid, we see them more than their families do and that forms a special bond. They get excited when they see that you are working. Thank you so much for visiting with these elders and bringing them cards, it brightens their day.

Rhonda Hernandez, First, thank you for doing the job you do. It takes a special kind of person to work as you do!!! I was shocked when a friend's parent went into a nursing home at the lack of visitation for many of the residents. When my husband's grandfather was there for 4-5 months prior to his passing we visited EVERY other day (M-W-F) and on Sundays after church so that the kids could sing to Grandpa (we only had 3 kids back then and they were 5-3-& 1) and they would talk about their week with GPA and he just loved it. The last couple of months many of the residents GPA had made friends with started coming to the day room when we came to see GPA, and every time we went to leave a couple of the residents would cry. This broke my heart because the nurses and some of the aides would tell me that a lot of those residents hardly ever had visitors. This is when it became my personal mission to go to the retirement home every other Sunday after GPA died. When the kids got older as a Sunday School teacher, I planned trips to the retirement homes in our area for different holidays and the kids in Sunday School all make cards each week to send to the residents too. I'd take photos of the kids doing different things and so when our kids and some of their church friends would visit the retirement homes with us, the residents felt they "KNEW" the kids and the kids really seem to have a connection with the people too. *************************************** Hopefully next year will be different for all of us! :)

I used to cook at a Nursing Home and it was sad, most of the residents relatives hardly ever visited. So it's sad that you couldn't go in, because I'm sure they would've enjoyed you playing and singing some Christmas Caroles, and am sure they loved their cards and gifts. I was fortunate to be able to bring dad into my home when mom passed. I enjoyed the 2 years that he lived here. I miss both mom and dad and I'm 70 myself.

I lost my mom in February of this year, Dementia took her before covid hit the place she was in. She was in a special nursing facility for dementia. I took care of her for 12 years so she could stay in her own home. Then one month to the day my brother died of covid. Its been a tough year for this single mama and my 3 kids. But God puts people in your life that helps with the tough times. Yall are some of those that God sends in others lives to brighten things up. May God Bless yall. Merry Christmas.

Jean, from the bottom of my heart, I’m so sorry for your losses. I, too, haven taken care of my mother. Since I was 17, actually. I’m now 34 and I still care for her now. It’s been my life’s greatest honor to be her son. Sending you very Merry Christmas wishes to you and to your family. ❤️

My husband was in a nursing home for awhile this year recovering from a brain injury. I couldn't visit him because of COVID. The people who worked there were outstanding and compassionate during this most difficult time. May God bless all of them!🙏❤🥰

Yes my daughter help out with the nursing home with gifts with our local bank here in our town and we had a friend that lost his mom Dec 2 . It was right before Halloween she fell and broke her shoulder then she gotCOVID-19. So yep we are praying for them .

My church does a "giving tree" every year. You pick an "ornament" off the tree and buy the listed gift for a senior resident. We do this for five nursing homes in the area. We were able to do it again this year, but couldn't deliver the gifts to each senior in person. 😕 🎁🎄

You guys are so sweet love watching your videos. This reminded me so much of my grandma who was diagnosed with cancer a few months back and has endured so much, she is in at home hospice care. My mom refused taking her to a facility and cares for her at home. I’ve been very emotional because I can’t go visit.

My church used to hold church services once a month at a local nursing home. COVID 19 stopped that activity.

Such a beautiful thing to remember the nursing homes. My 90 year old mother lives in an assisted living facility/ memory care about 10 min from our home. We found out this afternoon that one of the residents on the memory care side was exposed to Covid 19 and tested positive. Due to that all of the residents are on 14 day quaranteen as well as the normal lockdown. We were looking forward to being together Christmas day. Only 2nd time since March. So it is sooo nice to remember those situations. Thank you so much! ❤️❤️

Yeah Bert, having someone in a care home It’s heartbreaking. It’s not a nursing home but my grandma thinks she has her own apartment. The staff is shocked by our kindness and if they miss a facetime we understand. We follow up but are nice.... it goes along way. It’s not their fault we can’t be with her or have to be six feet apart. Just be nice. ok, thanks for making me cry. ( it’s ok❤️)

I worked in a. Nursing for three years started out as house keeping ended as a CNA I loved it seeing smile on their faces means I did my job. I got a injury on my arm which made me stop doing CNA. God bless yall in that field.merry Christmas

When our 2 Daughters were young and in Girl Scouts their troops would go to nursing homes and sing and spend time with them, have snacks, etc. The girls really enjoyed it and I am pretty sure the nursing home residents did too...

I love all of your vlogs but this one especially. I so appreciate you highlighting the true meaning of Christmas and thank you for being a blessing to the elderly. My grandmother lived in a nursing home for 9 years before she passed away at age 108 1/2. We spent a lot of time visiting and playing our instruments for her and the other residents. They just want to know they are not forgotten! Thank you for all you do! Merry Christmas!

Thank you for visiting the seniors home. My wife before covid used to volunteer at senior homes. She helped feed them and visit with them. There are a lot of seniors that have been abandoned by their family and friends. She has sat with the dying as no one should die alone. If one can spare an hour or so at a time senior homes will welcome you any time. My wife goes when she has time and when asked to sit with the dying.

From the other end of the world...Merry Christmas from the bottom of the South Island of New Zealand. It’s currently summer here, long sunny days where we have to wait till 10.30pm to see Christmas lights while it’s dark. We have no COVID and no restrictions or limits on gatherings so Christmas as usual but really feel for the rest of the world particularly those alone at Christmas due to COVID and other circumstances. Thanks for cheering me up during the year. I have appreciated the love you exude.

I used too work at an assisted living home it’s beyond sad a lot of those ppl have family who could go visit, back before Covid of course but they still never really had any visitors and it was very sad I think the elder are forgotten too much we should all help and be kind too our elders after all we all age and what if that was you or myself I sure would want as many visitors as possible especially if I didn’t have family.... again you are such a beautiful blessing too this world Somers keep up the great things you do ❤️
