I already replaced my jointer switch with a magnetic paddle switch, as the previous owner had replaced the original with a regular light switch. I am going to do the same thing with my table saw. Right now to turn off my old Powermatic, I have to bend over and reach way in to hit the switch to turn it on and off. You can't even see the switch when you are standing in front of the saw. I like how you attached the junction box to the wood, did you just drill a couple of holes through your iron fence and bolt the wood there?
Maybe someone can help me here. I have - 1948 Unisaw that was in a high school shop. They put a manual starter and magnetic switch. I bought a paddle switch some time back for another saw but intend to use it now for the unisaw. If I use the paddle switch, there’s no need for the starter and other switch correct? Or do I need the starter and use my new paddle switch?
Sorry, I don’t think you should trust me on that. But google the model of the switch and I bet you will find one. If not, ask for help on the Everything Electrical forum at owwm.org
Joshua English the box is 3.75” square. I don’t remember the kind of wire, because I took the switch and a picture of the motor tag to an electrical supply store and they sold me a few feet.
