I grew up with their voices and now I all I have is the memories, these two marine voices helped me through so much and helped mold me into the young man I am today and I pray that their voices never die in my heart, that would be one big empty hole that no other voice would be able to fill.
Steven M--Nonsense. Spoken like a typical nay-sayer who denigrates the service of better men and women than s/he will ever be! My family has been US Navy since 1776 and NOT ONE of us got "being there" ribbons. You have to EARN them to get them. My son has "chest candy" that was earned in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other interesting places.
Steven M--Am I supposed to be impressed by your list (which could be made up, as many posters do to sound important)? I repeat, you have to EARN them to GET them.
THESE TWO MEN ARE TWO OF THE TRUEST AMERICANS WE HAVE TO LOOK UP TOO. BECAUSE OF THEM MORE YOUNG MEN IN OUR COUNTRY HAVE JOINED THE MILITARY THEN ANY BODY ELSE. THEY REPRESENT THE TRUE FIGHTING MEN OF OUR GREAT COUNTRY I THANK THEM AND I HOPE YOU DO TOO. ( the old man in south florida)
I LOVE THESE TWO MEN, FROM A 26 YR VETERAN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. MY FATHER A 20 VETERAN HAS PASSED YOU BOTH REMIND ME OF HIM, THANK YOU FOR THAT, I'M A 4 YR ARMY AND 22 YR AIR FORCE VET, SEMPER FI, ALWAYS
I met Capt Dale Dye many years ago when he was XO of the Omega Group, which published (among others) Soldier of Fortune magazine. A really nice guy. No nonsense, great sense of humor and presence. Natural leader, or one who learned to be one.
thank you brothers for your dedeaction loyalty & love for our country & the marine corps , with men like you & my dad & my brother & uncles & many family members from both sides of my family who fought & gave there lives for our country is what makes me proud to be an american ! if our flag offends anybody out there , then me & my family will help you pack up your stuff so you can go back to your country ! "God Bless" American & all of our branches of military ("marines, army, navy, air force") "ohh-rah" !
puro americano 100% We thank you sir for your courage and commitment to the brave men and women protecting our freedoms MOS: 0311,0331-69 from: 1988-2011 Semper Fi !
Jose Robles My Flag isn’t offensive if someone says it is then they are a snow flake, yes we took this country, but we aren’t the only ones do you think everyone else just showed up to empty land, the only reason people still talk about us is because our country in comparison to other countries is young.
I was stationed at Edwards AFB and Cpt Dye came and gave us a morale boost pep talk, told us some stories, and answered some questions. A very approachable man and "Awesome" speaker. He gave me a sense of how those old school leaders really were. Kick your ass while you're in the field, but greet ya with a handshake and a beer when your at the club. Great Experience for me!
In all fairness, The Big Red One also had Lee Marvin and he helped out as well. Before the 1980s a good deal of the actors were WW2 vets and they had to contend with censorship and financial restraints.
ed salisch Lee Marvin was a Marine. Charles Durning was in the Big Red One at Omaha Beach. Forced to bayonet to death young German soldier, it haunted him the rest of his life.
My 7th grade teacher, former Pfc Robert Dunning, Baker Co, 506th PIR, 101st Airborne Division, was a technical director for A Bridge Too Far. The script even had someone swimming across a body of water as he did back then.
R. Lee Ermey, what ever you do Pvt. Pyle, don't fall off my obstacle, that would break my fucking heart. greatest line in a movie. for me anyway. both men, brought honor to those portraying soldiers. thank you.
Ah yes I remember he was consulted for the first MOH games now. Kind of sad the way the series went with the 2010 + Warfighter games killing the series
I met Captain Dye in Normandy at the 75th anniversary of the D Day landing in which my father took place as a rifleman with the 29th division. He was with a group of the actors who were in Band of Brothers. Nice, personable man.
if you really served then you would know better. Never call a Marine a soldier semper fi Airmen are not soldiers Navy are not soldiers Army are soldiers
I was an Airman boy! And there is no disrespect in calling any branch a SOLDIER! I was called Airman, I saw Marines called Marines, I saw Army called American soldier, LOL I don't know where your comming from calling an American A Soldier wrong. If that isn't good enough, you want a shot of my DD214? No, you ain't getting it. I served and that is enough. There is no need to continue this. Good day Marine.
RIP R Lee Ermey. Dale Dye played Colonel Sink in Band of Brothers, also an adviser on that show. He also did the voice for Sink in the game Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. Dye advised on The Pacific as well.
A salute to both the captain and gunny. They're good people both and they've done a lot to honour their brothers and sisters in service, past, present and future.
In every movie in Hollywood for the past twenty years were someone's wearing a uniform Dale Dye is in it. From Private Ryan to JFK. He's a technical advisor. Good that someone recognises this soldier and veteran.
Even though I was army and my whole family was army, these men are the very best of America! !!!!! As are ALL of our veterans from EVERY branch!!!!!! SEMPER FI,DO OR DIE!!!!!HUUUURAAAHHH!!!!!
God bless these guys for their service to our great country as well as in Hollywood. And God bless ever US marine who served our country. US marines are our white nights.
Ermey is a great actor. Retired airwinger. Staff Sergeant was the grade at retirement. No Combat Aircrew Badge, CAR or specialty badge tells me that he talks the talk but never took the walk. But damn if he didn't do wonders for Marine recruitment. Therefore the honorary Gunnery Sergeant.
Ernest Turnage Amen to that, brother, but didn't I hear a rumor somewhere that ALL Marines are trained infantrymen, just that some are assigned other duties? ;)
13thBear Don't bet your ass on every Marine being a rifleman. It sounds good in theory but you fight like you train and there is a helluva lot of Marines who can't seem to make it from behind their desks. They tend to keep combat arms, wing and support units seperated there's a reason for that. Combat arms MOSs tend to not play very well with others.
Met a ww2 vet today and put his basket back. While at the store but not before i thanked him for his service , shook his hand ..😜 stud still had a ww2 grip ...Don Eugene
Who says the US is "pussified?" The US has millions of veterans, alive, today. Are you possibly trying to say that ALL veterans are pussies? Vietnam, Lebanon, Germany, Italy, UK, Korea, Somalia, Central America, Grenada, Iraq, Afghanistan, and more places that escape me right now. Say that US veterans are pussified, out loud in public, and I bet you get your chickenshit ass kicked left, right, and sideways, dipstick.
I remember Capt. Dyle from that scene in 'Platoon', when he bravely called in a direct airstrike on his own position. I thought he was just another actor at the time, but never realised, until this video, he was actually out there, like Gunny was ... now I really feel stupid ... [Edited for even dumber mistake ... blame my migraine on that one ...]
God bless and RIP Gunny! Heaven's Arc Angel's are in for a big surprise! Our Lord took you there to prepare for the final Battle. He couldn't have picked a better Marine for the job...
R. Lee Emery on one episode he played in SpongeBob SquarePants as a tough guy who had some criminals on at a prison. SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick thought it was a summer camp. The criminals were at the summer camp.
Wouldn't really say "They bring dark moments from our past and show the glory of it". maybe say "They bring dark moments from our past and tell us the sacrifice what those brave men and woman have done for us.
Bummer; they flipped the photo of R.Lee Emory to fit their little video. There's a reason men's shirts/coats button left over right. And Military people know you wear Medals on the right side, over your heart. In formal dress, Medals on the right , ribbons on the left.
I love that Emery gets to reprise his FMJ role over and over, they even sell his voice as 'DLC' expansion packs for video game announcers, so you can have gunny screaming at you in game :)
