It feels like these lovely ladies have been gone for a long time. When they stopped uploading videos, it broke my heart.😢 I truly hope these two Heartbreakers are back for good.
The job of being in MiB isn't about making money. It's about giving up your life to protect an entire planet. You never being known is a small price to pay for billions of people being safe.
Sadly, Linda Fiorentino not being in the sequel is also probably due to her having her career destroyed behind the scenes when she refused the advances of, you guessed it, Harvey Weinstein. She was as big up and comer in the late 90s but all her gigs dried up.
I love the music video for this movie. Which so happens to include "Mikey". My favorite line IN the movie is: "This definitely rates about a 9.0 on my weird shit-o-meter."
My understanding was that Fiorentino’s very popular character was axed because Jones & Smith refused to work with her again. Fiorentino was notoriously difficult on the shooting of several projects, which led her promising career to flame out early. A couple of years later she was a central figure in a scheme to steal FBI evidence and fix a Federal criminal trial. Yes, really. Her ex and her boyfriend faced charges and her career ended abruptly.
wiki: "Fiorentino later had a relationship with Los Angeles private investigator Anthony Pellicano and dated former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Mark T. Rossini. In 2009, Rossini pleaded guilty to illegally accessing FBI computers during the prosecution of Pellicano. Law enforcement officials said Fiorentino wanted to assist Pellicano's defense.[26] According to prosecutors, Fiorentino was then dating Rossini, told Rossini she was researching a screenplay based on Pellicano's case. Rossini conducted searches of government computers for information related to the case and passed the results to Fiorentino,[27] who then handed the files over to Pellicano's lawyers in a failed effort to help Pellicano avoid a 15-year prison sentence.[26]" Too bad, cuz she had a promising career...
I'm happy you both enjoyed it, with a lot of franchises, I have a cut off point, sometimes it's the first two movies I'll buy and not the rest, somtimes it'll be the first movie only, thanks for doing a reaction to this movie, be safe ladies :)
It's a shame Part 2 isn't better. I put off watching Part 3 for so long because of how disappointing 2 was. Linda Fiorentino would have been great in 2 instead of all the time wasted bringing K back. She's also very funny in Kevin Smith's Dogma.
I love Men in Black 2. I personally think people should watch all 3 at least once if you want to watch any of them. After that, then i understand if people want to stick to their favorite.
If you've never watched The Cell I would highly recommend it if only for Vincent Donofrio's performance and also the visuals are so beautiful/ disturbing. Never mind JLo, although her acting in the late 90s was fine. I will always love her as Selena, in The Cell and in Anaconda 😂
Criminally underrated blockbuster! I wish the sequels were as good, but I cant wait to watch this reaction, regardless. (huge tangent, but has Jessa watched X-men 97 at all? If not, I'll hype it up by saying that today's episode was probably the best X-men has been in years! def recommended, on or off the channel)
At 12 minutes I heard Tony say "insensitive jerk", but remembered "insensitive prick", which is what the subtitles here say, and I've found the clip elsewhere using the latter. Weird thing to have different versions for. The prick delivery is better.
Men In Black the comics were a interesting blend, The X-Files with dark humor. Published by Aircel & Malibu comics from 1990-1991. Then Marvel Comics got the rights and kept the series standalone (non Marvel universe) with one shot stories and an comic adaptation of the first film. Barry Sonnenfeld directed 2 of The Addams Family films and the original MIB trilogy (1997-2012). Smith & Jones worked so well together. Jones is usually so serious (still is) and did have some laughs. Smith was on the rise as an movie star and proved again he could hold his own with veterans of film. No.3 film of 1997, Academy Award winner for Best Make-Up and Sony's biggest film for 5 years (until Spider-Man). The Predator 2 sunglasses by Ray-Ban wore in the film sold like crazy. The title song by Smith is his first-ever hit single as an solo artist. Later re-teaming with DJ Jazzy Jeff to record his 'Return To Rap' album, Big Willie Style (Gettin Jiggy Wit It, Just The Two of Us, Miami). The animated series ran 4 seasons (53 episodes). MIB 2 was so so and could've been better. MIB 3 was as good as the original and an worthy ending. MIB International aka MIB 4 (2019) is not as loved as the others. But you'll have to see for yourself.
I love the worms! Their voice actor says it was just improvised jibberish, but it definitely sounds similar to huttese. I’m pretty sure George Lucas was among the secret aliens 😂 Laurel is actually in the animated show, which is a quasi-sequel, like a lot of animated shows based on movies, with details ignored and changed. Like she works in the lab rathern than as J’s partner Supposedly, Laurel’s actor (Linda Fiorentino) was difficult to work with and Tommy Lee Jones only agreed to come back if she wasn’t in it. This hasn’t apparently been confirmed by either. I would not at all be surprised if sexism was a factor. Edit: I see someone else says Harvey Weinstein probably messed with her career. That tracks. MIB2 definitely isn’t great, but I have a soft spot for it, I think it has some good bits. I wouldn’t mind you guys watching it. But 3 is definitely good and worth a watch
The opening credits "font" is actually hand drawn - there's a specific artist who does this style of credits, which also appear in the 60's film, "Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb."
I unironically love MIB 2! Although it doesn’t quite capture the “magic” of the first (nor the “heart” of the third) it’s still a fun, sci-fi romp! Absolutely worth a watch (just keep your expectations reasonable) 🛸
Sounds like Fiorentino wasn’t fun to work with. Tommy Lee Jones wanted her gone and Kevin Smith directed and co-starred with her in Dogma and said: “These are some serious accusations, but Ebert wasn't the only person to write about this. Not only did Tommy Lee Jones allegedly have a problem with Fiorentino, but Kevin Smith, who directed the actress in Dogma, was rather outspoken about his time with her and what it was like to work with her. Per Smith, "Linda created crisis and trauma and anguish. She created drama while we were making a comedy. She was ticked off that there were other people in the movie who were more famous than she was."
1 Edgar/Bug = Vincent D'onofrio played Gomer Pyle in "Full Metal Jacket". 2. Tommy Lee Jones' roommate in college was Al Gore.🤮 3. Jones has claimed that he's never had a part that he didn't love and doesn't have a job. Just a hobby that pays very well.🤑🤑🤑🤑 4. "Congratulations Reggie........It' a squid".🤣 5. Having a weapon with a recoil like that defeats the purpose of a human using it. 6. Tell me this wasn't a fun movie. I dare you.
For whatever reason Linda Fiorentino's career fizzled -- and whatever happened in her personal life -- I remain disappointed we were denied more of her work.
This is a true classic. They don’t make comedies / sci-fi movies like this anymore. But MIB 3 is actually really good, I think you guys should skip 2 and check out 3
I will forever be a frequent watcher of this channel SOLELY because every first time watch for Alex is a movie I’d assume (based on the way you present yourself) I’d imagine is a film you’d call a favorite or hold dear to you. Jessa is a great friend for showing you all these masterpieces Edit : I’ve read the comic it’s nothing like the movie
So, I totally understand if you don't want to push forward, and the second movie isn't as good as the first. However, the third movie is _spectacular_ and IMHO it's worth watching them as a trilogy, even with the weaker 2nd movie.
You two are a couple of my favorite reactors. I especially enjoy the old movies as opposed to the series (with the exception of Ted Lasso-love Ted Lasso). Glad you’re back.
You guys are just the best reactors. And I'm not even drunk writing this. MIB is a blast (but no need to watch any of the sequels, the cringe is real).
Men in Black is from UFO lore about who wear black suits. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_in_black Vincent portrayed the best Thor in _Adventures in Babysitting_.. Linda Florentino had to go on a mission for god in _Dogma_.
