I went to NTTC Meridian MI in the summer of 1983. I was in one of those units--we called them "mods", and it looks like they are the same. That locker looks identical to what we had. We had 3 to a room, with a bunk bed and then a single bed. So it doesn't look like they've changed much. The brief shots of the outside of the barracks as well as the schools looks the same. It's a relief at my age, knowing that SOMETHING is still the fairly close to the same! I went to Boot Camp in Orlando, and that was bulldozed away years ago. The ship I served on, USS Truxtun CGN-35, was decommissioned and chopped up into razor blades back in the 90s. I was a Navy PN, and we learned on typewriters and the old OCR forms, with lessons in binders, not computers--and there were no such things as cell phones, and Smart phones were not even in our science fiction movies. This video is already two years old. If you read this James--treasure these years, whether you stay in the service or not, these are the best years of your life.
Takes me back , was there in 81, Yeoman "A" School training, looks a bit different, base looks same. Was only there 3 mos or so. Graduated early, transferred to San Diego, CA to the USS Cleveland LPD-7. Home for 4 yrs, and several Wespac deployments. Went to several other commands, but it all started here at NTTC after bootcamp at RTC, Orlando Fl. (Since closed down). Had great time, great friends, shipmates at NTTC, MS. HOO YAH NAVY! ANYTIME,ANYWHERE BABY. Retired for some time now. Still miss it everyday! Go Navy!
Takes me back. Went to SK school there in 1986. Buildings and grounds look the same. Inside except furniture is the same. We had 3 to a room. Lots of memories. We were strongly encouraged not to leave base bc of racial tensions so base had lower minimum drinking age.
I went off base every damn weekend bro out past a Walmart it was a little hole in the wall club met a couple of girls there I might have some kids in meridian lol I even ended up getting stationed there for 4 years after a school
Pretty much looks exactly the same as it did when I was there in 2008. They were building or refurbishing the barracks. I was one of the last ones in the old barracks so I ended up having a room allllllll to myself for like a month. Very nice :-) Also, I'd get lost in in Yeoman school sometimes. That square layout and white walls was so confusing to me for some reason. I never knew which part of the building I was walking out of LOL
I went to Supply school there long ago, 1986 on the Marine side, not sure if they still have it there... stay clean, its super easy to get into trouble... you work hard to get promoted, and that can be taken away in heartbeat, so be careful....
Wow I did A school here in the mid 90’s looks exactly the same except those sand piles in the middle of the barracks front space used to be beach volleyball courts. Enjoy your time there. Thank you for your service
I'm glad you choose that path. Keep going to school, strive for promotions. Stay until you retire if kaya mo... it will benefit you and your soon to be family in the future. Good luck
My nephew is in the Army. So I've been to a number of camps where he was assigned. I've been to where he was assigned in Syracuse and in Columbia. When there, I was not allowed to use my camera. Just saying and hopefully, you don't run into some troubles. Be safe!
Huwow, English speaking na talaga. Keep those vlogs coming, I enjoy watching them. Your innocence and new experiences are fun to watch. I just hope the military life won't change the happy you! Keep praying. Take care always.
MFSRN 12 I found the right word . The innocence ☺️ Yun actually tlga kung baga raw vlogs Masyado madami nayAbangan well that’s all comes from experience at mukang bata pa sya Wala pa masyadong experience sa buhay nakakatuws nga eh nadocument nya experience nya ako ng dumating kami ng anak ko more on pictures Lang . Pero yung mga nashare nya halos ganun din kami prang comparison sa lahat not in the bad way ☺️ At Pareho kami ayaw namin sa lamig haha
My husband is a US Navy (part time reserve) and he never allowed me to take photos even the sign at the gate. Why ? Just because , it's the policy. This is the thing you should know. You can get kick out in the Navy by showing it.
@@raquelmay5817 My husband told me now that certain areas are ok. He's in New Port, RI (Navy War College, OCS and NAS) right now and he sees foreign military student were taking pictures. For his sake I was afraid to take any pictures.
Shipmate you are living large compared to Navy barracks living at NAS Memphis NAS Willow Grove and NAS Oceana 38 years ago. Use that experience to motivate yourself that once you have served honorably to live better, earn better and don’t cut yourself short to just doing one thing for 20 years as there is too much money to make in life. BZ
Thats my dream i past the exam in naval but i failed in interview..1,500 applicants kami lahat nag take ng exam but we were only 20 applicants past the exam
i'm currently in the process of enlisitng navy right now. only thing that remains is to pick a job.therefore my recruiter gave me a list of jobs that i qualified for and 1 of them is PS.so from your experience what are the pros and cons? i want to learn more about the job l tried to look it up on youtube but couldn't fine enough resource
Wait ur a Filipino?! I'm officially face blinded..haha.. I'm planning to enlist to Navy this year and hopefully get LS, IT, or HM. I tried Airforce last year but they don't wanna help me at all so I'll switch this year. I just need to gain a little bit more weight before I talk to the Filipino recruiter 😂
Fix your spelling... why is this in my recommended.. It's Meridian, Mississippi. Appreciate your service to this country. I live in Meridian, only a couple miles from my house.
"As long as my roommate is quite". Aray ko po. E ang evaluation ko sa vlog mu ket madaldal ka hehehe just kidding. Haha nice room tour! I saw this place dun sa movie ni demi moore.

He just graduated last february 2019,mahilig din sa music play ng guitar. Deploy sa pa europe pero daan muna ng bahrain ang sinakyan nya is USS IWO Jima (LHD-7)
hey question.i'm currently processing for the navy right now. and when i went to meps PS wasn't available and i told them that i'll wait till it gets available. so my question is that when you went to did you wait for tghe job to get available? if you do how long did you wait for the job to get available? any suggestions for me to get the PS would be appreciative.
It also depends to your asvab score. How long its gonna take is it depends on when its gonna be available based on billet requirements, so theres no specific timeline.
James Barrett Vlogs Yeah i qualified with everything including asvab, medical except the job isn't available and the jobs that they offered me is jobs that i had no interest on.
Mahirap ang bagay pag tamad ka. Pag masipag ka lahat madali. 🤣😂😆. Pero hindi naman. Need lang medyo marunong ka sa communication skills kasi lagi ka kausapin ng mga service members.
please tell us about your brother. he has a different job has he? he didn't train for navy. was your dad ever married to your mother? has he gotten married to an american? do you have other siblings from your father? Have you got other siblings from your mother? thank you if you could tell us more.
Simeona Rasing So true! He should ask permission first if it's okay to video inside the Barracks or in any Military facilities. It bcuz there are many classified areas on base that 📷 not allowed specially @ working area. The Military might think that your spying! So be very careful.
