I read Dune once along time but didn't really care for it. I'd be interested in re-reading it one of these days as my reading tastes have changed and in some ways matured. (I mean, I still love Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett...) Anyway, I wonder if I'd appreciate it more now. I haven't read that Clarke book yet, but he's one of my favorite old time authors. I've read that Asimov one, I remember it being pretty good-ish. 🤣

Most of Asimov is “good ish” haha I’m gonna give Dune a shot.

I finally read Dune this past year and loved it! I'd tried many years ago and was lost. For whatever reason, it "clicked" for me this time. I loved it so much that either the same day I finished or a couple of days later I started it all over again. I don't remember ever doing that with a book before.

Now that’s the mark of a great book! I’m looking forward to this big jump.

@@scifibookery I think the key is just going with it and not trying to figure it all out right away. It does become clearer as it goes along. It's like being dropped off in another country where maybe they speak some English, but not a lot, and the culture and customs are completely different than anything in your experience. At first, you are disoriented. But little by little, you start to absorb things and it starts to make more sense. I don't know if he designed the culture based off any real world desert living cultures. It felt so real and the things they did and the way they thought of things made sense in that environment.

@@Yesica1993 thanks for the tip! I could see that being a great way to approach it.

Animal Farm is a favorite of mine as well, although it has been years since I have read it. I have yet to read Dune, but want to so bad! Great book haul!!!

Haha. In sweden, if you even find sci fi in english its around 5 dollars easy!

Well that makes sense though. It's the same here with anything other than English.

Snow Crash is great. Hope you enjoy it. I couldn't get through Dune. Stopped halfway through No 2. To me it is a fantasy with spaceships. Not true scifi. (I think the same about Star Wars...,okay, so burn me at the stake for my heresy)
