I was just waiting for someone to yell IT"S A COOKBOOK!

It would have been much better ending if he just said: "Ok, see ya!", and went on board. :D

I REALLY wanted to see what life would have been like on the alien ships...

So, first she convinced the poor lad to leave earth and become an alien slave. Then she made sure they get as late as possible along the way, while also criticizing and judging him for hurrying up to the ship. In the end, when he is finally ready to go be an alien puppet, she tells him that he has changed and decides to stay behind and die instead. What a nice story.

To put a Twilight Zone or Outer Limits slant to it: The final ships sound their horns and lift off. With all of the alien's newly acquired livestock/slave labor safely restrained; the signal is sent to a ship parked just outside our solar system to switch its holographic generator off. The purple hue gives way to cool moonlight cast across the beach. The scene fades from the couple's astonished faces to a classically designed room with a lit fire place glowing against the fine wood embellishments of a study lined with old books. Against the crackling of burning logs a shadowed figure raises a bubbly champagne filled glass and pierces the relative silence. "A toast! Here's to a fresh infusion of technology and a population size far more manageable. What a fine punctuation to decades of negotiation! It was a very reasonable transaction." Comfortable in a decadently upholstered chair another takes a sip and contemplates. "Yes, more manageable, but willing to die. There will surely be outrage." "Ah yes, but the outrage is always desired. Its the sweet chorus of confusion and anger we wait for before we provide a solution. The outrage will eventually give way to their pride of staying behind. We'll see to that. And when it does, we'll be ready to 'protect' them and insure such an unfortunate deception never happens again.......as we always have." Scene fades out to light laughter.

Loved the score, particularly during the end. It was really nice to see space ship designs with some imagination too.

For some one who wanted to live she did everything not to. I would have left her to her own fate.

I would've left her the minute she gave away two bottles of water instead of one. She is insane, girls please don't be like that in reality. Thanks

A short film with an actual story and characters. Thats something special in my experience. I like it.

It's her fault they were in the house in the 1st place! She gave their water away!

This was good up until 3:18 when they stopped and the dude started unpacking his entire back pack after running for their lives. At that point I lost any connection to the characters for not having any realistic survival traits. Oh and I stopped watching it and started reading the comments, glad I didn't waste my time.

Fool woiman leaving their water behind. She cased everthing afterwards with her idiocy. She has no right to judge anyone.

If she was a real woman, she would have changed her mind again after the last ship had left. Gotta love em..

Was hoping it would show the alternative, and what the aliens were going to do with the survivors. Nice ship design and supernova design, regardless!

Women can be complicated.... if there was a puppy to save she would go aboard.

Not too bad as a whole. The woman though was frustratingly dumb, and took away some of the viewing pleasure.

Beautifully done. A really serious piece of professional film making. No 'edges' no patchy parts, just simple yet deep and moving. And no 'twist' ! That in itself raises it above the average.

Lots of negative comments here but I thought it original. No actor will get an Oscar but I applaud the crew that produced this. .

And folks this is what happens when you fall in love with an emotionally unstable person (girl in the video)...

The comments are mostly disheartening as it reveals a mind that is void of true compassion and has no good heart.

This wasn't bad. Sure we could pick it apart but it made you think which is the most important thing.

I just watched this movie again and saw more to it than the first time around. It has a very good storyline and the acting is good. The special effects are interesting and the ending was satisfying. I don't know why I felt such dislike for the female character the first time around, but, I was not the only one according to the other comments here.

Well that was a stupid choice! Oh yes lets die in a massive radiation storm good one you just killed the person you loved. Damn i hate this story.

I don't understand why the supernova is visible both during the day and during the night. Were there two of them?

The sight of a nearby supernova would reach us the same time as the effects.

Why would fuel and water be scarce all the sudden?

Thats what happens when you let a simple minded drama queen make the decisions - " Lets stay here and be atomized by gamma rays"

Aaand the aliens were just filling their meat fridges.

This shows how most people would react to a situation like this if it was to come to fruition. Ignorant and ill prepared. Trust no one or nobody but your self.

Maybe the end never happened.. It could've been a lie to trap everyone.. The ones who stayed could live on with what the others left..

Excellent! Packed a tremendous amount of character development into a very short film. High budget photography, likely on a low budget. It's time to make a full feature, you're ready.

I think I would stay on earth by the beach at the end if given that choice, it will be quick.

I love the acting & premise of this film, now for some facts: It's pretty unanimous among scholars who study this that being from 50 to 100 light-years is the closest safe distance between Earth and a supernova. We're pretty certain which stars will go supernova in the future, they give off unmistakable markers. Spica a is the closest star that could go supernova it is 240 light-years from Earth. Spica has several times the mass of the Sun, & it shouldn't go off for a few million years yet. The super giant red star Betelgeuse, located in Orion's belt will definitely go supernova, in fact it may have already happened, it's located 430 light-years away, so if it went supernova 400 years ago, we wouldn't know until it's light reached us in another 30 years, BTW this would be one spectacular light show, but not have any effects on us...

Such a beautiful yet unsettling movie. One of the few that usually leaves a lasting impression on me. This isn't about their technology or detecting them from space. It's about the Human Condition.

Wow! There's a lot packed into this 20 minute film. VERY provocative questions. Highly original. Can't believe the negative and idiotic comments here. Probably from adolescents who've never done anything more challenging in life than a video game. This 20 minute short This film is sci-fi at its best. Presenting uncomfortable and even unpopular viewpoints.

After all that hard work, leaving water for those children, killing a man, get to the fance line just here those words.. should've stayed at home & waited.

The trouble is that it takes a particular type of star to go supernova and there aren't any of them "nearby".

A supernova multiple light years away wouldn't be an End Times issue, and our Sun will never go nova. Those complaining about the behavior of the actress...heck, there are people like that in reality.

So this was basically a relationship crisis with aliens doing their best to stay out of it. OK.

why couldn't they revolt against the aliens once they get to their planet?

The thumbnail description seems misleading to me: It's never clear whether the aliens offer only slavery as the price of survival. The film strays from its original theme of a life of slavery vs a death in freedom. The slavery bit is dispensed with in the second half of the story; it's just about the couple's race to survive, only to turn away at the moment of rescue for the most emotional and irrational of motivations. The female character is indeed a pain in the keyster, but nobody's perfect, and the man can't bring himself to leave her behind. Oh well, scratch two.

One that is not the woman you want to have your six. Two I’d die free first. Third I’m pissed there was no glimpse of the slave life. Just saying.

Great story, should of showed the aliens and their true purpose of helping.

The ladies go emo in every film genre and it ends in tears, it would have been more interesting to know how the humans and aliens interacted.

Most have been good short movies. This one, not so much and I couldn't finish watching it.

Touching, yet moving. I get what you were going for. Special fx off the hook! And IT WILL come to this at the end, and probably much more violent. I like your tranquil ending. Gives a little hope to the situation we WILL be in. Quality time.😪

The soundtrack helped portray the emotion so much.... allowed the desperation and sadness to be more at the forefront of the story

Well i loved that! But what i find funny is that the person who complained about there not being enough time, stalled and wasted time at nearly every opportunity lol

I like the story of supernova coming, alien ships arrive promising salvation but not knowing their ultimate intentions leading to the big question as posed by The Clash: Should I Stay Or Should I Go? That said...Miss Goody Two Shoes wouldn't last long in that scenario.

So she “can’t let” him make the sacrifice of going on the ship for her - but it’s okay for her to die to fulfill his wishes? She doesn’t want to lose more of him, but she’s willing to lose all of him? The plot just seems contrived to me.

Death by sypanova or Aliens? Which do you pick? I pick Aliens. Remember they could've appeared long before the supanova threat to invar but they only appeared when it happened, when earth was in distress mode.

To those that chose a life of slavery over death: Remember...having something is sometimes worse than wanting it. Or...to quote an old favorite: be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.

Rare to see this terrible acting. And on the top of that she looks like a rhino, acts like a menstruating rhino. Hope they don't want to make out a living of this nontalented misery, hope they don't want to be actors, do they??? 😞 Catastrophic.

Meh... Survival would be the ONLY option in that situation, because it leaves HOPE for a change in circumstance due to human ingenuity or otherwise. It would suck, but until you're dead there is always hope.

The music is good but it reminds me of the soundtrack from "Inception" - same chord progression, just different embellishment. By the end of this I was wanting to kick the girl in the butt. I know it's a "woman's prerogative" to change her mind but that implies that she must have previously made a decision. She seemed totally undecided about anything from beginning to end. Too bad the plot wasn't about her slow realization, due to events as they traveled, and a final change of heart rather her flitting back and forth from one view to the other. Frustrating for the guy and viewer alike. Now, shall we talk about the make believe physics this film assumes for an impossible event like this to happen on this Earth?

This could easily be a TV series. Spread the story out over 5-10 yrs and you have a captive audience.

Hey, Jason- I gave you a thumbs UP for content and creativity. I really enjoy spooky Sci-Fi. Take a hint from a Master like Stanley Kubrick- ALL these Blockbuster space-based movies have one common thing wrong- with their weapons, engines, things blowing up- There is no sound in outer space. There isn't enough medium to overpressure and modulate to carry any sound waves. Sure, the sounds add to the dramatic effect- as does a beautiful score- But- it's just so wrong and tired.

I get the impression Mr. Whitmore isn't a big fan of the ladies

Good plot concept. Just hate knowing people like them would rather see the human race go extinct than make a small sacrifice and risk becoming someone or something else to survive.

A once in a life moment humans have an opportunity not to be enslaved yet they board a mothership to be enslaved? You just can't breed out enslavement from the human psychological brain. Great story 👍

Hell no! Who knows what the future holds for the people who went up in the ships. We know next to nothing of the ship owner’s intentions. Like the graffiti said, I’d remain on Earth rather than possibly be a slave or worse. There are worse things than death. A supernova crash would be so fast, like an ant’s experience when killed by a shoe stepping on it. At least that is how I feel about this!

I just started watching this,and the first words I hear is "This is the image of the supernova if it's in our path." Here's a tip for the movie. If you capture a image of the supernova; then it's in your path. 🤣

Dude! You got skills. This is an excellent short - You definitely have to get a budget and make this into a feature length film. Good job on the characters too. The woman still has compassion, while the man is cold and calculating. I think I like the woman better. If I am going to die, I want to die with my humanity in tact. Viewers who disagree are the sort of lame people in politics - survival at all costs - cut throats to the end - me me me - to hell with everyone else.

I was afraid of another ending of the film. That the aliens simulated a supernova explosion to get rid of people from the planet. The apparent evacuation of people would prevent contamination of the planet that would be inevitable in the event of a war with aliens.

Maybe a Super Nova is how our “Simulation” developer RESETs everything.

Yeah, sure. A civilization with the technology to build star ships is going to want "primitive" humans for slaves. Makes perfect sense.

Apart from some scientific inaccuracies, i was troubled with the side most filmmakers take on: The worst and usually the most irrational way of human behavior. I am referring to the shootout at the house with the old man, a man who without reason would rather choose to shoot a girl in dire circumstances. Of course, it is an easy way to create some drama scenes, but still is something I do not like seeing in many films. Take the convenient way isn't always the best thing to do to create some action/drama scenes. Other than that, the film is well narrated and with good acting. The story is very good as to the dilemma it represents. What I would like to see is a continuation of what is life in the slave spaceships.

Loved the short, well done but man... She's the type of personality u don't want w/ u when shit goes down. I'd agree w/ giving those kids 1 bottle since they only had to get to the ship but trying to save the life of the guy who just attempted to kill u & ur partner?!? And she picked up the knife but didn't attempt to help stop the guy actively trying to kill her partner? And then after they go through all that BS & she says she doesn't want to get on?!? We certainly need very compassionate ppl when we can afford to show compassion in good times. They make this world a much better place. But when shit goes down u need to know how to turn it off for the safety of those relying on u & for yourself
