Dr. Madigu’s path from textile engineering to economics shows that it’s never too late to find your true calling. Growing up, the current Dean of the Strathmore Institute of Mathematical Sciences was captivated by the mysteries of the scientific world, sparking a lifelong curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. This passion led him to pursue an undergraduate degree in Textile Engineering, with dreams of contributing to Kenya's promising textile industry.
However, when Kenya's textile industry unexpectedly collapsed, Dr. Madigu faced an uncertain future. Refusing to let this setback extinguish his ambitions, he adapted by retooling his skills and boldly venturing into the field of economics-a discipline in which he had little prior experience, but which he approached with the same determination and curiosity that had fueled his early interests.
As Dean, Dr. Madigu now shares his journey to inspire the next generation, encouraging them to persist in the pursuit of their dreams, no matter the obstacles they may encounter.
