Sixty years ago I was a young crewmember @ Jib, sailing at TLYCC, on the family E-boat, the "Stars and Bars with a collective crew of teenagers. We also had a Sailfish which I recall racing a couple times. I am not a sailor anymore but I still retain the "muscle-memory" from the activity. I sort of sailed away from Michigan in 1975 ending my days on the water. Now as I am watching Torch Lake Scow sailing on RU-vid.....feeling the heel of the boat, trimming the jib and yelling to the captain, "Luffing" and the chaos of bringing the spinnaker down..................thanks for the great video!
I crewed on an A Scow on Pewaukee Lake Wis. In the 1980's,. One race the boat was cruising at about 30 knots downwind and the skipper wanted to hoist the spinnaker up with a green crew. We agreed not to and the race was called, to much wind.
Great filming! Did you use a drone? These boats really fly! After dousing the spinnaker it was nearly motionless rounding the mark, but it just jumped when the sails filled on the new tack! Looks like a lot of fun.
