Would I go out of my way to listen to sea shanty's? No. Would I go out of my way to listen to Home Free sing anything? Every single day. Thanks for recognizing the HF talent. I think you'll really enjoy the rabbit hole you're headed down.
Lovin the reactions to Home Free. It may not be your kind of music, but your faces reveal quite clearly how you are enjoying the music. ♥ >_> Country Fried Pop next. Shout out to all my Home Fries.
This is the medley that the VIP's at UBISOFT heard that caused them to contact Home Free and commission them to create a new Shanty for their upcoming game of the same name "Skull and Bones", since covered by The Bass Gang. Chance is the shanty guy in the group, so he wrote and took lead on that shanty. He was also the one that talked the group into doing this medley, and it went viral. There is a professionally recorded live video as well from a concert in MN that shows you how well they sound live. This medley was released on TikTok and went viral, it is recorded in portrait mode, black and white, with the floating "HF:" logo and banging on the back of the guitar as a throwback to the original viral Wellerman video.
Home Free was touring in Europe when covid was creating havoc. They had some of their shows cancelled and ended up having to haul ass in the middle of the night to catch a flight out before the borders closed. It was a crazy time, but some really creative gems like this video came out of it. They have a bunch of “quarantine” videos, created each at their own homes and then pieced it together to make something really great.
It wasn’t just one song it was a medley (or collection) of songs. You’re right it was during Covid and it attracted Ubisoft, the game maker, to them. They asked them to write a new song for the new game Skull and Bones and you should check that out…it’s a banger. The bass was Tim who was dressed as Capt Jack Sparrow. He didn’t move much as he was standing in a boat and was afraid he’d fall out. They put out a lot of content during Covid and I was so appreciative. You might like Listen to the Music (a Doobie Brothers song). The beatboxer was great in it. 😄😍
you also need to see the Live recording of this one by Home Free at the Mankato show So Damn good ! Shows the entertainment value of HF Live with a crowd. Plus you'll see that their transitions are every bit as smooth Live.
Loving your Home Free reactions! We Home Fries are a very loyal and fun loving group! If you want to see a Home Free original try Catch Me If You Can or Playin’ With Fire; Patriotic original Land Of The Free, for fun songs Jump Right In or original Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget and fan favorite Listen To The Music. Enjoy and I’m looking forward to your next reaction! Have a great day!
Lol We HomeFries tend to be a pretty cool bunch. 😉👍We just love watching new people discover our favorite guys on the planet. Sometimes we may get a bit over-eager (haha), but rarely are any of us mean/nasty/etc. Try *American Pie* or *Listen to the Music* for a treat! 🎶🤯😘
Factor in that they made this during lockdown. Your "motion of the ocean" gesture reminds me that rolling waves is the feeling given by Adam Chance's exquisite rendition of "Leave Her Johnny," the third song in this medley, which he does solo and very differently: it's premiering tomorrow, Tues. the 14th, at 8 am PST on the Adam Chance channel. Tune in and be part of the party!
This is so much fun. There is a professionally filmed live version which is fabulous. It really showcases that they are THIS good live. Highly recommend it.
How good are these guys? The fun & energy in this is infectious. This was done during quarantine so none of the guys were even together. The editing of this was great & was done in the Tik Tok style. Love all the guys parts, with Tim's rumbling bass underlying it all. And Adam's beatboxing is phenomenal as always including sea swells & castanets. Amazing how he increased the tempo from one song to another. They recently released a professional live recording of this medley.
I hear ya and feel the same. I wasn't interested in acapella at all, but Home Free changed my mind. The talent. I mean they sing so clean and their harmonies are amazing, the beatboxer has skills and their bass too. I went to see them in concert and was hooked, one of the better concerts I've been to even without the instruments it was a party and the beatboxer does a 10 to 15-minute beatbox solo in the middle of their show. I really love them now.
Home Free has also released a live concert video performing this Sea Shanty Medley in front of a live audience which is just fantastic and worth watching even though you have reacted to this video. Plus they have done an original sea shanty. When Home Free released their "Sea Shanty Medley" during the lock down and it went viral, the game company Ubisoft saw it and was so impressed by them that they reached out to Home Free and asked if they would be interested in creating an original song for their game (which was in development) Skull and Bones. Of course they jumped on that and their one and only sea shanty enthusiast, Adam Chance stepped up and wrote a master piece, Skull and Bones. Check out their official Home Free video performance. It is like a short film. Of course there are many other Home Free covers and original songs to check out.
Thanks for your appreciation of HomeFree. They definitely are a very talented bunch of gentlemen. This song is my neighbors favorite whether he likes it or not. 😂 ❤
Finally subbed. This is actually HF'S most popular song. When I first saw "sea shanty" in the title, I thought, "Meh." Then I listened because it was Home Free, after all. Sea shanties are still not in my fave genre list, but HF makes it sound wonderful. And Adam's casta-nots! Wow!
Home free was invited to write the skull and bones video game theme song after producers saw this medley. Another elite acapella group, voiceplay has several stellar pirate themed covers. They have a space shanty cover of Warframe's sleeping in the cold below and from pirates of the Caribbean Hoist the colors.
Love the reaction. I won't leave any recommendations as I'm sure that you have a list as long as your arm but what I will say is anytime you listen to Home Free you are gonna be impressed.
When you can, check out the live version of this song they released. It's even better live! Also, Skull and Bones, written by Adam Chance, for the Ubisoft game. Thanks for reacting to the guys again!!!
They were all singing in their own homes Tim outside. This was during the covid lockdown. The 6th member of Home Free Darren put all the music together to make the video. He is the magic man with their music and videos.
You would probably be completely blown away by Adam 's (the beat boxer) "drum solo" performance...it shows off some of his skills on a more in personal way since I it focus only on him.his talent is crazy insane!!🔥🎶❤✌
Oh, you've only just scratched the surface with these guys. LoL. I understand what you mean about maybe not liking a type of music you can appreciate the talent. I'm not a huge country music fan but I love even their country music songs. They have great original music and several of their covers that have become my favorites are songs I didn't pay attention to or didn't like until I heard Home Free perform them. Thank you for the reaction! Looking forward to more.
You can create an impression of unity with prerecording, etc. but they do this live and it is every bit as fantastic. The have a video of their live performance - check it out. And who but Adam Rupp would have thought of doing castanets?
Not my cup of tea either but have to agree their talent seems endless. And these guys harmonize together better then any other accapela group, in my opinion. Luv your reactions and honesty!
My 2 yr old grandson likes this compilation . It’s interesting to watch the in concert version . This one was done during the Covid lockdown . So they sent in their parts from their homes .
I became a great aunt when I turned 2 yrs old. I found it funny when my niece picked me up from elementary school. I am 12 of 13. My parents started in the late 30s & I was born in 67. Yes, I have a younger sister. One of my nieces tried to explain to her grand child that I am her aunt, but I am her baby aunt.
Ubisoft heard their Sea Shanty Melody and loved it and approached them with an an amazing opportunity to write a shanty for Skull And Bones video game .Chance loves sea shanties and everything to do with the sea and loves gaming he jumped at this amazing opportunity to write this .They released an amazing official video of Skull And Bones. They also did a Lyric video sang a shorter version live at Ubisoft Live Premiere. No version of Valhalla Calling can beat the original version Miracle Of Sound.Gavin Dunne wrote it and sung it.
Guys I know there is an ideal way to work through the HF catalogue, (Congrats on pretty much the best discovery of your life! ) PLEASE do their live version of Sea Shanty next, and do a comparison?!
I love Adam Rupp doing beatbox castanets on the Spanish-sounding music. (Yeah this was a quarantine video, where they're each in their own homes. Props to them for keeping it going.)
They wrote an original sea shanty called “skull and bones”. After the sea shanty medly went viral, unasoft commisiined them to create a new shNty for their game skull and bones. The video is cinematic.
Make a comment about the people not looking liken Vikings AND select a thumbs down. IMO, the fact that then do not show the number of thumbs down is Bullsxxt. If it is not important, then why offer it as a choice. Plain and Simple.
I could recommend a lot of there songs. They are so versatile in what they can sing. They sing anything. I will say one thing. Check out there new pirate song that the gaming company Ubisoft asked them to write. It's called Skull and Bones. You will not be disappointed. I promise.
Chance Rob and Austin did a great job on this song. Tim's voice is low and Adam's beatboxing great. I messed up on my first comment. I love Home Free and they are my favorite group.😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
For your NEXT rabbit hole try Voice Play ... They are competitors and friends with Home Free. Tim Foust of Home Free taught Geoff Castellucci some low bass techniques and now Geoff can pull a B zero - lowest B on the piano They did Valhalla Calling and Miracle of Sound actually liked their version. I had one friend who only liked the bass (who does a decent imitation of a Viking WAR Horn) saying Viking songs wouldn't have tenors or the other stuff Meanwhile people who love all things Viking think it's awesome.
New subscriber here to say....Yeah...You are going on a rant...But that's okay, because that's why we are here. Us crotchety old farts gotsta stick together....
