So much emotion in that skyscape. No one captures the horizon quite like you, good sir.

You have a therapeutic effect on your students as well. Well, at least for this student. During COVID, I was stressed and not sleeping well. I found you by serendipity or AI, and started watching and listening. I fell asleep while following along with your demonstration, and slept the sleep of deep peace. Thank you. Your voice, and your words are all part of the magic.

That is such a sweet thing to say. Do you know, I found Stuart when I too was quite unwell, & it felt like a relaxing respite from my symptoms. I could lay on the sofa and watch, or close my eyes and listen while I rested 🙂

I'm truly amazed, how you can take a painting from our Zoom class, that I liked and then create a new painting that I enjoy even more! BRAVO!!!

The sky is better than before but why is there no reflection of it onto the sea? The sea is only a dark mass. I dont understand.
@StuartDavies

Google sea photography and look for photos where there is no direct sunlight on the sea. All will become clear! :-)

Sometimes a dark area reflecting on water, will not be a mirror image, but a silhouette of the shape, showing the color of the water..no reflection. Eye level, distance..light..can get complicated to understand. So many variables.
@perolofnordstrom-us1xp

I see what you mean Broody but I dont think I’m after a mirror image. Perhaps I myself might have maintained an enigmatic sea. Still I would have tested another tone on the water to enhance any possible correspondance to the sky. Perhaps also a few lighter strokes on it?

Amazing transformation. It's definitely a great lesson to show if you're not happy with original painting to go back and enhance, fix, or change it. After all, it is only paint. Thanks for sharing.

Sir, I would like to thank you for all of your labor and effort to contribute to the progress of fellow Artists and our ability to paint more effectively. You have helped me so much in my understanding of how to pain instinctually, and to enjoy painting from my imagination more freely. I am actually begining to enjoy the process and expiriance of painting without being intimidated by the unknown work that exists beyond the brushstrokes. Thank you so much, and I would like you to know that I have been praying for your health to be restored to you by faith in the power of Christ Jesus. God Bless You Sir!

The changes you made… it just goes to show you the difference in one’s ability when one isn’t feeling well. This turned out absolutely stunning. The changes you made were perfect. I was smiling as I saw you create a beach with rock and seaweed with a quick few strokes of your brush. I could see it already. The colors are glorious together. I’ve watched you long enough to see you were on 🔥 as you made your changes on this one. Just phenomenal!

You do have a cat…do I recall your cat has his own room you are yet to show us? Doesn’t have to be fancy especially if he recognizes it as his space.🤷‍♂️ Edit: responding to a cat hair removal segment

Yes, I do have a cat and she does have her own room. She's a bit of a Diva and insists on no cameras, but perhaps I'll sneak in and take a few pictures. If you never hear from me again it's because she caught me!

your technic does work with professional grade thick bodied acrylic, the trick is to do it in a controlled room temperature. but most art studios do not always consider this. its not the paint its the studio, also the amount of thick bodied paint and gawkin is also key. I even use the same brushes from Home Depot...
@dshepherd107
@dshepherd107 3 месяца назад
Is the process the same, or do you use drying retardants to slow the drying time? Do you do it in stages, or can it still be done Ala prima? Also what brand of acrylics do you use, if you don’t mind my asking? And do you use any specific additives of a specific brand, like Liquitex or Golden?
@Broody58
@Broody58 3 месяца назад
I used to add glycerine & water years ago. It extends drying time, but not as long as oils, so you'd have to glaze if not satisfied. Working smooth helps with layers of glaze. Or you'll get hard ghosts of previous strokes.

@@dshepherd107 TY for not taking my post as I was fussing, I was not, only I can't afford oils and to do this style you can't have amounts as a reason... In college I used thick body paints like golden open, but added marble dust, the smooth one, for creaminess however, artist touch thick body works very well... artist touch I didn't need to use marble dust but used only gawked to keep it wet longer... but as I said you have to also control the temp in your studio... this is a big factor.. I usually place my thick paints under a moist paper towel in the veggie bin in the fridge... Im just saying.
@artistkailadsa4706
@artistkailadsa4706 3 месяца назад
@@Broody58 I should also mention it works best on wood panel, as Davies uses mostly glass also.. I used what I could afford and made it work, it's the creative way.. 😀
@Broody58
@Broody58 3 месяца назад
@@artistkailadsa4706 a bit of ammonia cuts it thin too. We used to make colored ink out of it..watercolors I suppose. Theres supposed to be a good extender by golden, but I've never tried it. All I paint with is oils now.
