Great question! For ones starting out I would first start with doing work for free to or work for a discount build up your skills portfolio and get testimonials. So I would first ask myself?- do I have expertise in the field or do I need to show my work? Based on the answer I would then decide how to proceed. If I'm starting out and need to show my work I would contact a friend or local business and ask how I can help them. For example I could send an email or text and say- How are you doing? I am a (insert skill or trade) and I thought of you because _________. My skill in X is designed to help you Y to achieve Z. If this is something you would be interested in let me know.
