Honestly seeing you have these troubles is so incredibly valuable. It really comes to show that when we have our bad days, it happens to everyone. I've had countless of these days and was feeling like I'm just not cut out of this... But seeing you overcome all these problems and still have a positive attitude is unreal - I take my hat off to you and I need to take a note out of your book. Thanks Jake :)

*Also side note - Every bad day is a learning experience which is worth more than the money that you got paid as well! It compounds into much more money in the future

It aint easy, some real tough day's but you've just got to charge correctly, if it's a tough job charge for a break and a cuppa and a chill.

As a veteran roofer of 46 years i come across this most days..total lack of maintenance of gutter and gulley systems on properties by the home owners. New 60" flat screen TV and Ipads before paying someone each year to keep gutters and downpipes clean. Be glad when i am out the game, oh a new subscription here matey so keep up the great content.

We find the same problems with narrow gaps between the tile edge and the gutters but use a slim flat attachment for them. Also helps having a triple motor vac if you need extra power. Sometimes you just have to get the ladder out.

I can't do hights so up a ladder isn't an option. I have a various variety of attachments so can adapt to most gutter access sinarios. What I do is go backwards and forwards along the stretch of gutter until I can hear the attachment scape the gutter and when I clean the downpipe once I think it is clear I will leave the tool in the top and put my ear to the downpipe. It always works for me. Never had any complaints!

Get yourself a toy drone. 50 quid and you're golden. No risks, minimum cost, if you break it buy another one... fairly simple. And most of these you can connect to your phone anyway.

The lead it is called a valley. I use a camera and it does help to see as you are going along the gutters. Also handy for checking how easy the nozzles will fit but I tend to only do existing customers ( window cleaner). Those downpipes where soooooo bad. If I had seen those gutters I would have declined as I don't have ladders. Well done for clearing them. Good job the squished hose wasn't the first job of the day. It will be interesting to see if the silicon clamp works out.

Personally I use the camera that gvs supply. It’s awesome, can do up to 4k resolution. I do quotes for free and generally take my before pictures off a ladder as long as access is really easy. Saves the time of setting up the camera but I only do it that way if the zero safety issues/risks. If I have to get the camera out I’m more than happy to. When I’m on the job I barely use the ladder and my post job photos are from the camera. Seems to defeat the point of purchasing a gutter vac and camera to be using the ladder, especially as much as you use it. Saying that, there are the odd time when the ladder is necessary still.

Correct, the whole point of a gutter vac is to not use ladders, to make the job easier, safer and quicker.

I’m pleased it’s not only me with some days like this. I’ve started quoting £70 for a standard size home. Typically a 3 bed semi. The a extra £5 for a add on like garage or conservatory. Hope this helps.

Dont forget to add on fascia cleaning as extra, £25to £50 depending on how dirty. Can either be done with spray bottle and cleaning agent or if you have water fed pole system and brush clean after. An easy add on per house, and increases your ticket per visit. Average house gutter and fascia cleaning £130. Every little helps.

If you come across heavily blocked downpipes again you can use your hose with pressure on full to clear the blockage.Easiest way if you are already using a ladder.

I use a go pro with mine mate. For survey. But before and after if I can access I will use my phone. That flashing is called a valley. I've cleaned some absolutely mental gutters. Pulled out literal football fields out 🤣🤣🤣.

If the builders did there job right they wouldn’t need any screws to connect the down pipe’s. I’m on my second camera, the first is a right pile of crap, the second isn’t too bad but not the best. I mite just stick to going up the ladders to take the photos. I think something mite of run over it

I use a go pro hero 9 and it's spot on l. I use it for checking the gutters using gardener go pro attachment on the wfp and take a screenshot so i don't have to mess around and I use it on the gutter vac and I would say it's halfed me getting a ladder off the van. I use gvs camera goose neck mount and a phone holder off amazon that has claws that screw tight to the pole so it can be remove quick and easy

I have a skyvac atom, I bought it second hand and it failed on me yesterday. I could smell burning from the motor, and water was spitting out like on your video. Is there any cheap fix for this or do I need a new motor? Any help is greatly appreciated

A bit late but ive got an atom and they replaced my motor for free (i brought the machine direct from them though) they said next time it goes ill need a new whole top body section

I do not use a camera and don't do inspections to help the owners decide whether they need my services. I have a camera and a drone but it is not to let people know that one side needs cleaning and not another. I assume when people call me then they ought to know they need the service. I was told by another contractor in my early days to not tell your prospects that you can look because they pick and choose where to clean and waste your time and so I just agreed and continue to operate that way. On another note, wow that job you are showing is terrible. Oh, that reminds me of another point; when I see plants from the ground, the price goes up by at least 50%.

Don’t worry mate, I’ve done a lot worse, I’ve got one I do every year which is my worst one, A mansion, just did it took me six hours with my new GVS Shadow 3,400 watts) filled it up about four times! Blocked the filter twice, Still had to get ladder off for one down pipe, I’ve even had a long sausage of rotten leaves in a down pipe explode in my face & all over the drive, smelling like sewage, Because of pressure built up inside, as I took it apart! & I was doing it for free, for an elderly neighbour! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Always charge more than you think if you don’t go and view the job. I under charged so much in the past. I now have a minimum charge of £80. There’s people around here charging £40 any house. Great if you’re there less than an hour, but imagine charging that and you’re there 2hrs. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

What is this obsession with putting screws into swan necks and down pipes? Never used screws myself. Don’t the fools using them know they are almost certainly adding to the problem of blocked down pipes.
