Honestly was never a big fan of the rounded turret I like what they did with the t90m and that is the only compliment the Russians are ever going to get from me
A combination of 8.7-10.0 being by far the most compressed area in the game for Ground Forces in terms of vehicle capabilities and mobility being meta in RB, which the T-72 sucks at.
Wish 9.3 wasn't full of people constantly leaving after 1 death cus I do enjoy the T-72A so freaking much but at the same time avoid playing it cus while I know I can do well it's all in vain really. By the way, you need to revisit the ZTZ96, it's also been 2 years since you covered it!
I would join you at 9.3 Since I bought turms and T55 (wallet warrior I know, don't worry I get 3 kills atleast) but I abandoned war thunder and never felt better
I used it a bunch of times when my brother forced me to play at 11.0 (US him, Russia me). I was totally surprised that even using a T-72A, people aimed for my LFP constantly...he didn't understand but i do, how top tier turned to a muscle memory game. Still, it was fun to use such tank even at 11.0, what APFSDS can't do HE surely does. At it BR isn't really that bad but for sure having both 2S25 and T-64B with more capable firepower and protection put in a little shadow the T-72A.
T-72A isn't bad at all at its BR, but the constant uptiers to 10.0 premium hell kill it. It has no fighting chance against Abrams and Leo 2's. Even in a full downtier the T-64BV at the same BR is better in everyway other than mobility. Better UFP, trolly Kontakt-1, 3BM42, LRF, and better turret and hull traverse speeds.
@@jetnavigator 8.7- 10.0 is now such a horrible power-crept BR bracket. That's all well and good, it sucks and it will never change. The fact, however, I have to oppose vehicles at night with no thermals only with Gaijins idea of what night vision is (a green filter) makes the T-72, 64 and many others completely obsolete. Hell, even the T-72B 1989 at 10.0 falls into this bracket. Literally nobody wants night battles. 9/10 it's a horrible experience across the board regardless of thermals, because when in 3rd person you can't see shit. The shitty flare or whatever it is that pops up for 10 seconds and then dissapears is not enough to justify playing them without f****** thermals!!! Just have the map constantly lit for christ sake.
@@Corellian_Smuggler if we want the map constantly lit, it may as well not be a night battle. No matter what, in order to make a night battle not shit it basically requires it to not be night. So in other words we want them to fucking remove them entirely please and thank you. No one likes them.
donno brub, not justifying night games because i also hate them, but its as simply as just leaving the match and play something else, not a solution but it allows me to skip shitty maps
@@taelorpickel2830 Not sure what you're talking about? There was the T-72 Ural, the original variant, which was quickly replaced by T-72A. T-72A had new turret composites, and later received additional hull armor to protect against the development of American APFSDS. There was no further domestic development of T-72A, as T-72B was just as cheap to make and entirely superior. T-72A lived on as the T-72M1 for export, and some foreign nations did develop the platform further as they were not given license to produce the T-72B, which saw very limited export before the Soviet collapse.
@@henryatkinson1479 The variant isn't too well known but extremely common in the Soviet Union in the '80s. It's arguably a T-72B, as the T-72AV is just an T-72A with ERA, the T-72B is mostly known for having ERA, but there's a known ERA variant as well. People commonly call it a T-72A, like a T-72A 1984, so it's a fifty-fifty thing. Look up T-72A Mod-1984 or T-72B without ERA. Kind of weird, and sorta derails what I said, but whatever.
@@taelorpickel2830 T-72AB was never an official designation until the 90s when T-72As were exported with Kontakt-1 to countries like Syria. T-72A Obr.1984 adds the hull applique armor and nothing else.
T-72A for me was just a practice vehicle for the T-72B which is alot better tank but same as shitty optics. Overall i liked it when i only experience 9.7 uptier and some 10.0 and at that point. You'll have to cheese abrams at that point coz 3BM22 cant pen pass the fuel storage of abrams or a lil bit of angle.
In my opinion the biggest problem for 9.3 russia is the lack of decent teammates. The amount of teams where im left with half a team or less after the first few minutes is getting out of hand. You look at the scoreboard just to see half your team is gone with 1 or 2 deaths and practically nothing done. Meanwhile the dude you happend to kill is a US-main and spawns in US CAS planes and helos. CAS is stupidly strong (especially US) and your own AA with toiletpaper amounts of armor gets killed off way to easy. Also another AA between the shilka and 2s6 would be very nice to cose the AA gap. The lack of reverse-speed and gundepression certainly doesnt help either. At least russia has some very good helicopters too.
Thanks for the video I really needed more vids on the Soviets at 9.3 since I’m about to unlock the T-64A. Been using the T-62M-1 and T-55AMD at 8.7 and really need some foresight for what I’ll be using in the future. Auto loader is a must because the (with expert crew) 10.2 second reload on the 115mm really hurts especially when everyone can out reload you. Gonna miss my 4 crew and -5mph reverse speed though. And the fact that the ammo is way safer on the T-62s/T-55s.
@@112mirai if you like the T-62 you would like the T-62 M-1, plays the same but you get uptiers a lot more often. I'd suggest the T-72A solely because its more competitive in said uptiers in comparison.
T 62 M1 is worth grinding if you want to stay at 8.7 for a moment. It is better than T 55AMD at almost every aspect with some nice spalling with it's top rounds.
It isn't that bad that you can't get used to it but it's simply not worth playing it otherwise, I can't say that the 9.3 lineup is good either way. Also: T-72 Variants - Carry 22 rounds T-80(T-64) Variants - Carry 28 Rounds
@@OtterMusician No point in not bringing the full carousel as the way ammo is laid out means unless you bring like 4 rounds you're going to get ammo racked if shot down there. Just don't bring over 22(28) as that puts ammo in other parts of the tank.
T-72 is good back when it is same br with the t-64a which make it a good tank with good firepower, speed, armor compare to the t-64a but now it is same br with the t-64b i think i will choose t-64b rather than this but it is still a good backup vehicle
Mate I'm so bloody close to this thing, currently researching T-62, now i'm just trying to get the Leo 2av and sell it so I can get the AM-1 and grind faster
Hey Justin, have you thought about maybe making a Twitch highlights compilation? I think the highlights are pretty funny, and I'd think there'd be enough to make a standalone video.
It shouldnt be 9.0 theres already not very many nations with vehicles at 9.3 that can pen it anywhere other than weakspots at point blank let alone at long distance. The ones that can have very select vehicles that can do it and they are also not main nations so not many people use them. While on the opposite end it is able to Lolpen 90% of the things it faces up to 9.7.
@@prizrak-br3332 armor is not the only thing going for it lmao, USSR is basically the only nation that people seem to be completely ok with them being able to LOLPEN the things they face at all map distances at any angle. Yes it doesn't have the 3BM42 but it doesn't need it. It has good armor and a low profile with a gun you rarely if ever need to aim. The only time you need to aim is if you get uptiered which shouldn't even be a thing anyway, that's a problem of it's own that everything suffers from. Few tanks get to claim they have good armor around these BRs and the T72A is one of them. The tanks that can negate your armor, again, are mostly in trees that arent played often, and even then you arent even guaranteed to see them and thats also not accounting the fact that they can also be fighting WITH you. The amount of things that can pen you the way you pen them at 8.3 (it's current max downtier) is not very large. You move it down to 9.0 and that pool is even smaller. Not to mention the weak spots on your tank for the tanks that can't LOLPEN you back (the majority) are small ESPECIALLY at range, and very easily hidden.
Got this before rank 7 was added and before you had to get the T-62M-1 first, Used it to grind Russian top tier along with my T-55AM, Had so much fun killing abrams when they were very common and is still my favorite T-72. (I still never got the T-62M-1)
T-64B is overall is better option than the 72A, it has the armor and fire power but slow as hell even without its ERA. But its just a suffer because everything is faster in term of every aspect(mobility, gun handling, reverse)
i prefer the 72a to the 64B or the spruts. the spruts gets worst in class protection, sub par firepower, bad depression, big-ish profile, for barely above par mobility. but i played 9.3 mostly when you had full 9.3 matches and not full 10.0 matches so thats that
@@JustinPlaysTV yeeeeyy thank u thank u to see if it's worthy buying it to be honest ( cause no one covered Chinese top tier anti airs lately phly hunter koala.......)
Seems like everyone I know who plays the T-72A has bad luck with it. Not just because of the armor and firepower, it just seems to be a bad luck charm.
Getting uptiered in this and the T-64BV isn’t even that bad anyway, yeah you don’t have thermals but the scariest tanks you face are the Chally MK3 and Leo 2A4, maybe the occasional Abrams? With the fact that the BR just got moved up again for top tier MBT’s, the Russian 9.3 line up is super stronk.
Justin I need a tip: I'm a general grinder of all the tech trees, ground and aviation, my main nation is Italy and I only have to grind 6 vehicles to complete it, the other nations are all at rank 4 with rank 5 unlocked, for Russia I have some rank 5s, would you focus on Russia or grind some other nation? PS: I don't like German 6.7, too slow for me
That's no mod, it got added to the game like yesterday (see "it's fixed" blogs). It should be enabled by default, otherwise you have to enable it in the settings.
I've been playing the Cheiftain mk10 quite alot recently and having to fight a T-72 that is just 0.3 BR higher than it really makes me question Gaijin's decision making. It is a night and days difference between the two which makes me question Justin's conclusion in this video. Yes the T-72A is old but it has still got the nasty 125mm that can easily one shot any Nato mbt especially the Cheiftain yet they are so closely BRed together
Both the Chieftain and Chally should be better at range. IRL British tank rarely go anywhere without some infantry, a totally different tank doctrine to most other major powers and why they tend to be a little slower but make good snipers
i carry HE and sometimes HEAT rounds with my AP to kill soft targets, idk how many times ive seen a radar spinning right above cover on an SPAA and i load an HE and nuke it just by hitting the radar lol
