A Short Film About Ryley Walker 

Ryley is so talented. I've met him and talked to him a few times too and he's genuinely nice and a fun guy.

One day, I really hope people will stop comparing Ryley with Buckley, Jansch etc.... ONE DAY, people will be going "That guitarist chap is pretty good, he's a bit like Ryley Walker but not as good.". Enough with the comparison and influences, Ryley is talented enough to be named checked in a modern day sentence without dragging up the past.

Keeps me inspired as a young folk guitarist myself

Liked the film very much and adore Riley Walker. Such a special voice (btw not in a style I usually love but he transcends that)

... ... Resonance that is inexplicably euphoric to my ear follicles but actually inspired to my sacral nerve root and then some,.. erelong going to ask you to send him to another root of the Planet "Dead OCeans" in the meanwhile Ryley...keep nourishing your "potato" in wild innocent soils.

I realise Buckley is a terribly convenient comparison. But...Buckley had a much better control over his voice, Walker doesn't seem to know that he can't do the same stuff with his as Buckley did with his voice (perhaps that'll come...maybe if he gets rid of the ''huh'' vocal tics Buckley employed as well, seems a bit like literal aping instead of being influenced.) That said, Walker has an enthousiasm for music which is just incredibly endearing to see and hear, his songs are just underwritten (especially lyrically) and that's simply because he hears something and wants to adapt his new influence right away, which I understand very well...yet it's not something everyone can do. Why not take the time to deconstruct your influences, which he obviously did with the guitar, now just figure out the voice. Again, I like him a great deal, I would definitely hang out with him if I could, but music-wise I would rather just listen to Buckley's originals, at least as it is now. Maybe he wouldn't like to hang with me because I just ''busted his chops.'' Pretty nice video though.
