In the midst of February 2024 a gathering of computational Sanskritists from around the world took place in the beautiful forest city of Auroville. This film tells the story of the 2½-day event and includes interviews of scholars who have dedicated their lives to this field. Auroville is an UNESCO-endorsed city where people from 60+ countries come together for research, education and creating a society based on "human unity".
Sanskrit, having the largest corpus of pre-Guttenberg literature is one of just a few language having regular dedicated international symposia of this nature and it has played a pivotal role in the development of general linguistic understanding. The computational-like structures of Panini's grammar have significantly impacted the development of pre-computational thought, grammar, and logic.
This film was shot 15-17th of February inside Auroville and at the French Institute in Pondicherry.
