This movie always felt like it was a stand alone film. It really didn't have the Pink Panther theme or the name in its title. but it's actually my favorite entry in the whole series.

This is probably because unlike the other Inspector Clouseau films, this one was evidently based on an existing stage play.

It was, originally. No one realized there would be such a response and demand for a series of Pink Panther movies, so this one was being made before the reaction happened, as I understand it.

This theme is catchy I wanna dance because I’m a huge fan of Henry Mancini’s score since the entire the Pink Panther franchise. One thing for certain, it representing the Inspector cartoons. What a great intro.

Yes, they did... the first one ever, "The Great DeGaulle Stone Operation." They then re-appeared in a different form altogether in a series of their own, The Brothers Matzoriley, which was a segment of The Super 6 (the first TV series DePatie-Freleng had ever done) which ran on NBC from 1966-67 despite not being related to the segments seen before and after.

My favorite "non-Pink Panther" title sequence, even though Blake Edwards/Henry Mancini were involved. 1964 was a very good year for movies during that decade.

I felt that 2019 Academy Award nominated film "Knives Out" inspired by this film about the idea of Italian maid being suspected by the rich family but the Inspector is the only one who trusted her. And in Knives Out the South American nurse being suspected by the rich family but only the detective trusted her.

Can anyone explain why the official Pink Panther cartoons RU-vid channel removes or silences the opening credits and endings of all "The Inspector" cartoons? This theme plays throughout the shorts anyway. They don't do this to "The Pink Panther" cartoons.
