It's called the bowl test:
1. Get out a large bowl and fill it with water
2. Pluck 3-4 hairs from your head and put them in the water
3. Leave it for 5 minutes and then come back and check on it.
If your hair is floating on top of the water you have low porosity hair.
If your hair is floating in the middle of the water you have medium porosity hair.
If your hair is at the bottom of the bowl you have high porosity hair.
