If you've never changed a tire before, hopefully my dad's instructions can help you out. I still feel proud of myself 😊. Hopefully I'll have a new tire within the next couple of days and then I can continue heading west. See you in the next one. Thank you for being here.
Your dad ROCKS! You ROCK girl! The instrument on your dash that still says 4 psi, needs to be reset. Check your manual. I learned that on my car. Cancel that roadside assistance!
Great job! That was so beautiful. Watching you call your dad and him talking you through changing the tire! It made me miss my dad. He passed away a few years ago. Be safe and thanks for sharing your journey with us all.
If your Dad don't get his own RU-vid channel 🥳He is the real MVP! I love watching your interaction with him! It's such a blessing the way he takes care of you and respects your independence at the same time. 💜
Aren’t fathers amazing? You’re truly blessed to still have your dad here! Thanks for sharing the not so pretty side of van life! God Bless and safe travels!🚐
I am so proud of you...your dad told you exactly the right way to change your tire. I change my own tires (and brakes) the same way and I'm a 52 yr old Queen. I'm so proud of you 😊
Your dad gets the dad of the year award. You changing the tire, I was literally so happy for you. I learned how to change a tire, Thanks to you and your dad. Awesome. Also, the pain you got the day after was your trophy 🎉
Cherish, these times with your father, I had such a close relationship with my father. His passed on and watching your father being there reminded me of my dad! Cherish it! Your father reminded me of my dad!
YOU DO HAVE AN AWESOME DAD!!!!!!! My dad showed me how to change my tire. Unfortunately, that was many years ago and I have forgotten what he told me. Thank you so very much for sharing your conversation with your dad on this video. He was super detailed and explained what to look for and everything. I am definitely saving your video...just in case. 😊 Dads are such a blessing!❤
You have one of the best dads out here girl! He’s so knowledgeable and measured in his instructions. You did amazing to stay calm, listen and got it done 👏🏾. I save this video and will share it with my young adult stepdaughter.
Your dad calling you Pumpkin while giving instructions was so heartwarming. A good dad is SUCH a blessing. I learned everything I know about cars from my dad. I’m a total daddy’s girl & miss him terribly. I was blessed to have him. 🥹🥹🥹
That price she quoted was excessive… i could see a 50$ charge but over 1200$ so indicative of what’s going on in the world today!….Teally good video sis!👍🏿😀
Your Father 🙏🏾 💜 What a blessing. Truly loves his baby girl. I enjoyed watching your patience AND learned how to change a tire! Thank you both! So proud of you, Sister! 👏🏾 💜
You should 100% file a complaint on that company. I can't believe they gave you that quote with a straight face. Good job on changing the tire tho, mama 💪💪.
Monique, have a small can of WD 40 in your vehicle. Spray a bit above the LUG NUTS. They will loosen the nuts in a few minutes. ALWAYS WORKS. You won't get disappointed and TIRED taking off tires. There will be another FLAT down the road. Longer u go without changing, the lug nuts get TIGHTER by rust.
Hello! I enjoy watching your channel , and I enjoy watching you cook. You inspire me to eat healthy. Congratulations on changing that tire thanks to your dad. You’re blessed to have both of your parents.
Awe, you just made me think of my Dad. 😞 He used to say there's two things a woman should know what to do...change/check her oil and change a tire. I know how to do neither. 😮💨 I just married a man who takes care of my car maintenance. 🤷🏾♀️ Great video as always. Edit: I was literally crying and punching the air when your Dad helped you fix the flat. I'm determined to learn how to fix a tire now. Very inspiring Sis 💯🙌🏾🥹
I was so proud of you when you finally got the tire holes in the screws. You go girl. Whole time when you were calling around I was hoping you'd end up doing it yourself. Even though tire changing can be a tedious strenuous process. Now you have the skill and the confidence that comes with more self sufficiency. I love how you were so hype afterwards but the best part was hearing your dad walk you through the process. Musa is a very lucky man not just for having you but he gets to inherit your parents.❤
@31:05 He did a great job walking you through it, you did it! $1,260 my ass.The symbiotic relationship between male and female was an intentional thing by the creator.
Wow!!! You and your dad are awesome! He was so encouraging and you kept a positive attitude the entire time!!! ❤👏🏾 Unless you keep a charged jump box, you may need roadside assistance for a dead battery.
I love how you consiously decided to finish the action w/ the potstickers... you registered a problem w/ price, decided it wasn't worth it, put it back, AND left the area in a better position then when you found it by straightening it up after. 💛
Amazing! This is the best video I’ve seen in so long! This is one of the things that would 😱 me, worst fear etc. I had my tire slashed twice a few months ago and had to drive on it once with my three dogs because they couldn’t wait hours for a tow. I felt stupid and helpless. I feel like I could do this now, watching this! Your family is amazing. Growing up without a father, having lost him at an early age, and the ways it broke and scarred me - just brings me such joy to watch the way your family interacts and supports each other. I watch because I love your beautiful, gentle soul navigate this journey and as a fellow vegan it’s always inspiring but your family is always such a joy to watch too girl! Many, many blessings to you! Surely you’ve earned a few here with this tire! Namaste 🙏🪷🕊️🪷🙏
Great to see. This will encourage many women to at least think about doing themselves if in a similar situation. I am super proud of you and your Dad. ❤
I was literally cheering when you got that tire up on those lugs. You really do have a super awesome dad and your patience and persistence is impressive! $1260?! Not from this woman. Good job!!
Your dad is excellent! I’ve never had a flat tire before but have watched and helped swap to snow tires for years when the seasons hit. 😊. Good going. Lady!
❤❤❤ Seeing your father help you! So beautiful! Thanks for sharing this part of your video! It really means a lot to many of us who have never had a father to help us. ❤
Awww, you’re so lucky to have such a good dad. I saw on a previous video that he showed you how to protect yourself and now he helped you with the tire. Man!!! So sorry the tire went flat, but you fixed it!! You got some good footage also! Thanks for sharing.❤❤
Hey there Sis. Monique! It’s been awhile! I’m so glad you took the liberty and had the courage to tackle tire changing, like you know you could do. Now, it’s a part of your power since you’ve completed the task! I love that your dad supports and teaches you as he did…he is AMAZING and the relationship and love reminds me of my daughters and I. Keep pushing, keep learning and be safe out there in your travels.
*Your dad is so cool!* I loved how he was patient, methodical, and clear, wow. This reminded me of other times when something has gone wrong, and then various things went right. a) your dad! b) you had cell service to be able to video call your dad c) you had a pair of mechanic's gloves d) your spare tire was inflated, it's so easy to forget to check the pressure in the spare especially when it's hard to reach. Hmm, I wonder if mine has air in it. Congratulations on joining the "I know how to change a tire" club! Changing the world, I'm still trying to learn the rules to get in that club. :) Thanks for the video. What a view from your campsite! Oh, and your tire still reads 4 psi because the tire pressure monitor in the flat tire is still sending its data to your van. Maybe the spare doesn't have a TPM sensor in it, or your van can't display the spare's pressure, at least not without messing with the menus.
I am so happy you did the tire change. As a woman on the road we need to learn as much as we can about maintaining our vehicles. Thank God for dads and google.
I almost didn’t watch this because I thought you had paid over $1000 for someone to rescue you. This was so cool! I actually shouted “woo hoo” when you got the tire on the lugs. What a cool Dad for being so calm, cool, and collected. He must have been worried and wishing he were there to do it for you. Congrats to you for being so independent!!
GREAT video! I have never seen a tire changed before. You did a great job. Your Pops is the best! Keep the roadside service because you may need a tow, your car can break down, etc.
I am so impressed with you! 60 years old and I have never changed my own tire, though I have done my own oil many times.. I think it's time I learn the tire as well. You're very inspiring. What a lot of savings :-)
It really easy to change a tire. Every person driving needs to know how to do basic car stuff. Change tires, check car fluids, change windshield wipers and fluid.
I appreciate the content and the time it takes to put it together. Love seeing Black van lifers get more exposure. I love all the travelers of all races. I've learned so much from all of you. But this is valuable information you guys are sharing and you deserve compensation for it. I'm slowly going through all of your videos. Looking forward to seeing your journey. Safe travels.
You changed your tire! Oh my gosh girl you are incredible! It's one thing to learn with hands-on assistance, it's a whole nother thing to have your helper be miles away! Good on you for being willing to learn in an emergency. Subscribed and rang the bell, I can't wait to see how you continue to tackle whatever life throws at you.
Proud of you Monique! Life is funny (sometimes not haha funny) like that. Times like that are such confidence boosters for us and self empowering. Looking forward to next week’s video! Go Dad! Go Monique!!
Also, get a car diagnostic tool for your van (I purchased mine for $17) in case the check engine light comes on or your battery light or any light on your dashboard it will tell you the problem and give you a code. It is a useful tool to have among other road care tools.
Wow! Who knew watching someone change a tire would make me so emotional. My Dad chose to be absent from my life watching your Dad lovingly coach you thru the process made me tear up. You two make an amazing team. You’re so very lucky to have a great present Dad. I’m so proud of you! Yes, you can save the World.😂
I’m so glad that you didn’t really panic or get super discouraged! Proud of you! Sometimes watching you, I want to sell my house and hit the road… then I think, nah. LOL. I do think that I’ll rent an RV and go on a nice solo ride across a few states to see things from a different prospective. Thanks for the inspiration Monique!
YOU ROCK!!! I am 66 years old and I have never changed a tire. Fortunately I’ve never had to. It is a huge fear of mine to have what happened to you just now happen. Please do go and save the world while you’re on a roll.😊
Great job, Dad and Monique! 💪🏾My Stepdad taught me in high school, but I haven't actually changed a tire since then, so great refresher. And great reminder for why it's important to be self reliant, but I keep roadside since mine is just a few dollars and it is a lot of work.
Ooooh GIRL! This video was enough to make me order an electric jack and impact wrench to make this easier in the event I should God forbid need to change a tire. Thank goodness your father was able to help you through the process. And, now you know you can do it! :-)
I am a relatively new follower ( been following since 4/2004). This my first…maybe second comment. I must tell you how courageous and inspiring you are. I have contemplated van life for 3 years. I plan to venture out at the end of this year. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Also, I am a daddy’s girl. I lost my dad years ago. I love the relationship between you and your father. Cherish it. And yes, he is an awesome dad. 💪🏾😁🤗🙏🏾✨✨✨✨
Thank you for being a supporter for so long ❤️❤️. I’m glad you’re going to give van life a try. Even if it’s only part-time, or just one trip, I think it’s something wonderful to experience.
You and your Dad are amazing! It’s so empowering to be able to do things ourselves instead of having to fork over an unreasonable amount of money! I’ve seen folks use tire deflators to semi deflate tires before going in the backcountry. I guess it’s supposed to make it less likely for a rock or something to puncture the tires. Not sure how accurate that is, just something I’ve seen overlanders do.
My heart melted a little when your dad called you pumpkin. I would keep roadside assistance in case your battery dies, you lock yourself out of the car, or you need to be towed. I guess it depends on how much it costs you. You can also see if AAA roadside assistance is cheaper.
