Best videos on RU-vid for framing a framed canvas. No fancy tools. Really made with an artist in mind - not a woodworking genius with a full blown shop. Thanks!

This is brilliant! Recently started selling my paintings and can't believe how much the frames cost!

Just watched a 25 minute video on how to build a floater frame which basically requires a woodworking shop. This method is so stupidly simple and cheap! Fantastic video. Thank you!

Awesome! The craft store Micheals wanted to charge me over $100 for framing a canvas I made. You just gave me some confidence to try this myself. Wooohoo!!! Update: I just framed my canvas, super easy!!!

You are THE BEST at woodworking and explaining. Who in the world would give this info a thumbs down must be depressed 🙃 I have followed these instructions and made gallery worthy frames. Then a few years pass and I shortcut a frame it’s all messed up so I’m coming back to this great video to refresh. You’re so great!!!!

Great video! I did this years ago and was remembering how nice the frames looked, but could not remember the specifics. Its nice to watch an instructional video like this when the person speaks so clearly without all the "umms"... thank you! You made it look easy.

Great tutorial! That was exactly the type of frame I had in mind for displaying my paintings for sale. I believe a frame, no matter how simple, brings a painting up to a whole other level. I love your explanation of a floating frame, also. Thank you so much!

Thank you for making this video. It has saved me a ton of money, as premade frames cost a small fortune. And to me, strip frames are the most beautiful of all frames. They work for all styles of art. Not to mention this frame is easy to make. Plus the feel of pride I have in making the frames myself. Thanks again!

Good video. Since you have a mitre box, I recommend doing 45 degree corners as it makes your final product look much more professionally done and the only thing that really changes is the type of cut you make on your wood and maybe a little bit of glue. Good luck!

I have an exhibition in a few days and no tools but a hammer. Of course, I have no money to spend on it either. I'd given up on the idea of framing because it seemed too difficult. But I'm going to give this a try tomorrow! I hope the store will cut it for me.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. Custom framing at chain craft stores are EXCESSIVELY pricey. Your technique is extremely simple and affordable, most of all it comes out elegant and so versatile. I'm thinking of playing around with thicker wood or apply Rub n' Buff. Thank you.

Great videos and very helpful. I've always had a problem deciding whether to paint the edge of my canvases, now I don't need to. Gives a great finish, is inexpensive, and what's best is I can do it myself. It fulfills my main design rule - simple yet effective. (and that can be adhered to in so many ways... lol)

Jon: I love this tape! Just one question - the section on attaching the block to the table - I could use more details on that - how big a block and how far from the edge of the table? Also I see in the video that you actually put one more piece of wood on top of that block before you attached the frame to the painting. So if you do have more detail on that I'd love to see it. Thanks! I'm off to the hardware store now.

At last an EASY and inexpensive way to frame a canvas - so thankful I found your video!! I'm assuming if my canvas is only 3/4" I would buy a wood strip that is also 3/4"? I'm a newbie and bought several 3/4" canvases not realizing I would have to frame them to meet most art show criteria...
@chriswhitehouse8982
@chriswhitehouse8982 5 лет назад
Louise, I was wondering the same, but if you watch the last part of the video, you will see that he still uses the 1.5 inch wide wood strip. He mentions that the canvas is inset a half inch or so when looking at the back so that the picture hangs flat on the wall.
