Exactly how to take the grip strength of a spanner and turn it into the grip strength of glue, wirh extra steps, great work.....😂

If you are going to use epoxy anyway, just drill the hole larger. Then the epoxy has the corners of the nut to improve its resistance to turning.

@1090yoyo 13 дней назад
Correct. Or make a decent job and cut an hexagonal hole in the wood to really fit the nut.

Way to much work for what you need to do. Also a waste of time tools and supplies.

Or, just use a threaded insert, and stop wasting time on stupid shit.

Very good except I would prefer to have the original steel wingnut. It’s far more durable and really easy to flick and whiz it open and closed. I love wingnuts…I am a wingnut…🤪

Simple appears to be a relative term but thanks for sharing your ideas, can’t all be good
@charlescox290

But it's no longer a hex nut. I thought you were installing a hex nut. That isn't a hex nut. That's just making and gluing in a threaded collar.

It’s a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. And not a very good solution at that.

Why not just make the hole bigger or file the shape to retain strength?

Lo más simple era meterla después de hacer la primer perforación cuando la pieza todavía era parte de la tabla grandeen la tabla

Fazer o furo na madeira, inserir a porca antes de outros furos e o recorte, assim não racha.

They sell these at the hardware store made from plastic. Every time I see one I throw it away and replace it with a steel wingnut because its objectively better.

Nice work...but the wood piece that split in half wasnt the knurled wooden knob that he made, or finished the video with...

Seem.simple but with less overall turning strength. Nice try. Still liked the video.

Learned how to make knobs. I’d probably file in some shallow grooves on the now round nut to give epoxy something extra surface to bite. I note too he used two sized Forsner bits to form a shoulder in the star shape nob. Good job.

So much work. This sort of thing is what 3D printers and heat-set inserts are designed for.
@iarde3422
@iarde3422 5 дней назад
You would have to spend time to draw the shape and wait for it to print, so it wouldn't be any faster.

Now that i see this amazing method, i guess I'm going to throw away the 250 pack of inserts (all different sizes,) which i bought from temu for $2.98. How stupid of me buying those things.
